Eclipse, part 1 chapter 1 battle 1.

Spoon Fed Edition
Helicopter Crash at the rock outcropping, Ophelia, Big Joe, Mercer

The trio more or less reached the outcroppibg of rocks where the helicopter crashed. Quite near not more than 10 feet away the leyline popped and crackled. It seemed like the line was holding energy at this point rather than dispersing it along the rest of it. The scene of the crash was horrific, twelve mangled bodies of the coalition research team were strewn across the rocky outcropping covered in the smoldering wreckage of the helicopter (Black Lightening model). At first it looked like all hands went down but incremental movement and soft moans for help from some of the passangers quickly revealed not all hope was lost. Or was it?

A male on the ground, half his face burned, and his body lodged between plates of metal, cried out to the would be rescuers, “Forget us…. Argghh…. The canister, take it back to Fort Eldorado…. In the aft section, Sanchez… You’ll be a her-“ It was almost like he was delerious, but seeing the team at the crash site his words caught in his throat. “Prosek’s B…. It had to be you eh Mercer?” The familiarity in his voice was all steel peppered with hatred. Somehow, through the pain of a broken arm he managed to raise his laser pistol. What could be seen of the man’s insignia would put him at General. “What did I tell you when you left our division Mercer, I’d kill you…. Argghh…” The general’s arm fell and his head went limp. He slipped into unconsciousness but still gulping in shallow breaths.

Amazingly, and surely a credit to the CS manufacturing team in Iron Heart, the pilot, copilot and six passangers in the main fore compartment were in some critical state of barely hanging onto life. Quick action would be needed to stabilize the lot. The aft section seemed a bit worse off than the fore, the group could see four decimated bodies. One of them had a death grip on an intact silver canister. Their bodies were marred beyond recognition. There was nothing the team could do for those four…

But then the dead in the aft moved! All four twitched and rose as one as if puppets having their strings pulls. Three shambled towards the group, while the one with the canister shambled in the opposite direction looking for a way off the rocky out cropping!
Mercer meets General Daveed Davies Maverick
To see the general again, like this, was it something Mercer was ever truly prepared for? The General Belonged to one of the founding families of the Coalition and was as a keen observor of the arcane as any. But his strength lay in his creative thinking of how to pervert the arcane to some advantage for the coalition. Rumors abound as to what his fingers were into. From Juicer uprising, to the Xictic Anti-Monster Hunter.
Ophelia
A wave of arcane energies was unleashed by someone near. Those Bodies turned zombies were being ensorcelled by someone!
Big Joe
You cannot shake this feeling you are being stalked. Once at the rock outcropping you thought you saw something dart in-between two trees close to the rock outcropping.
Science or occult either at -2
You got an explosive rift on your hands.
Ok folks, lets do a bit of a dramatic task time. Each of your posts below has a modifier granted by the speed you were able to get to the crash site. The task also has a negative modifier caused by the trouble the shambling zombies represent.

Dramatic Task: save the dying CS
There are eight possible wounded people to save, so 8 tokens and you have one round to stabilize as many as possoble. Every success and raise you achieve is one token or person stabilized.

Skill: the skill must in some form be able to heal wounds or stabilize. So arcane skill is fine if the character has the heal power. Or you can use the heal skill.
This skill roll is made with a modifier: -2, there is some trouble on the rocky outcropping that is making the task a bit difficult.
Support your self: spend a benny and you can roll an appropriate skill In support of your self(The support roll skill is rolled at -1, and does not share the speed bonus). This can grant up to a +2 bonus to your heal attempt. If you choose an attack roll as the support skill and score one success you also kill one zombie. This is essentially a free action.

Directions:
1) Support yourself (spend a benny)
2) Heal skill roll
3) Narate what it all looks like.
Domes, combat, Clark, Antipas, Cass, Tasura, and Luke

The semi translucent white domes jutted out of the forest floor just fifty feet from a sparkling crackling leyline. An unnatural audible crackle and pop was coming from the line. From the forest floor as you approached it was clear that the Domes had to be at least thirty feet tall. Shadows would appear on the left one from time to time while nothing it seemed was in the right. The group only got 25” from the domes when they encountered forces sent my the Federation of Magic.

The two Domes’ entry doors were facing each other separated by about 20ft of cleared brush. The door on the left opened. A man wearing a CS uniform ran out screaming as he tried desperately tried to get something off his back, “It’s on me, it’s on me! Get it off!!!” He fell to the ground his screaming became more of a murmur.

At the closest side of the left Dome a horrifying amalgamation of someone who used to be a juicer but now an undead horror burst through the translucent wall wielding a pair of vibro blades one in each hand, It growled “Flesh!!”, another one popped out behind him similarly adorned. Both looked at the group of heroes approaching and began to advance upon them.

From up in one of the trees no more than 10” away from the group of heroes a pair of juicers laughed. One of them, a woman in juicer plate, called down at the group. She was suspended by some kind of climbing harness, “That’s far enough. M’ name’s Jenny Jergins. Uh yeah you might was to toss down your weapons mates. Harold and Moe are pretty hungry. This area is now under the control of the Federation of Magic. Drop yer weapons and sod off.” Her eyes flared up matching the color of her wavy red hair for an instant, clearly she was nearing the end of her life. The other one, a male with a salt and pepper beard, likewise suspended was wearing a blue and black tee shirt over his plate armor. The shirt had a stylized font which read Kole Hole. This man was a bit older and he nudged his compatriot pointing down at @Cassiopeia.

The two juicers were not alone, up scattered in the trees were at least three more juicers essentially forming a tree top height picket line the group would have to go through to get to the domes. Jenny Jergins shook off her fellow juicer adamantly nudging her, and barked orders at another two juicers hiding in some brush down on the forest floor while pointing at the fallen CS soldier still murmuring and scratching at his back, “Leave it alone Stern, Kole is dead. Prepare, that one for Daxon Fell. Feds paid us good cred to bring him anything strange.” You see the two additional juicers move through the forest floor towards the fallen CS soldier in front of the open dome door. One of them called back, “You got it Jergins!”

While the two zombified juicers, also known as Murder Wraiths seemed to be lumbering towards the group approaching the domes, the rest of the Juicer’s seemed content to wait to see if weapons were about to be thrown down or fired before acting.
Xander for Luke
”Luke, I have finished my two day analysis of the sludge and have determined it’s origon. It is b-…” Xander went quiet and for a brief second the suit lost all power. Xander returned, “Warning power at critical levels. Reserves almost depleted. Dumping memory to preserve core functions. Warning…” The suit was starting to became heavy and movement lethargic. Luke new he needed to find power soon or quite possibly in three days it would become his metallic tomb. Vigor roll or suffer level of fatigue as your habit for power kicks in.
Notice
In the left dome a series of humanoid figures rose one by one till a dozen of them were standing upright. You could not really see who or what they were. They appeared as black shadows against the white translucent domes.
Ok so we are in combat, I laid out the cards and a place for you to post below, neither side is surprised.

Forest provides -2 to hit with range due to cover.

Whatever, Success; Mercer knows it’s an Explosive Rift: As may be surmised, this is another particularly dangerous Rift. As soon as one comes into being, Ley Line Walkers can tell it’s only got a few seconds before it explodes and disappears. Tendrils of energy lash out violently in all directions as the portal rapidly expands, sending terrain and everything (and everyone) in its path to another world. Anyone too close must make an Agility check at −2 to avoid being transported. After 4d6 seconds (ignore the Rift Duration table), it explodes, doing 3d6 Mega Damage over a large area—a city block, at least.

Saved One Coalition Soldier: Lieutenant Elayna Maverick, CS Commando. Related to Jude I assume 😉

The General spoke with true unbridled hatred. The exiled CS Major watched as the dying man raised a blaster towards him. Jesse Mercer was momentarily frozen. He just didn’t care if his old commander and friend shot him dead.

I betrayed him. I deserve his hate.

General Daveed Davies Maverick had been a mentor, friend and commander to Mercer.

* 102 PA (Pre-Tolkeen wars)

Captain Jesse James Mercer stood next to the legendary Colonel Maverick. Mercer was both excited and scared. Excited to cross through the Rift to worlds unknown and scared of the Colonel and his reputation at the same time.

”Right! Listen up. You four stay close to me. When I go you follow. We can’t be but an hour behind that dimensional raider. Forward observation states the world on the other side hasn’t changed. Sgt. Del stays high in the SAMAS and watches us three on the ground. Mercer is our tracker. Sgt. Vance your head stays on a swivel, don’t let anything sneak up on us. Let’s go. We jump over to this shite-hole world, track’n kill the raider and get back in time for dinner.”

“Yes Sir!”

“Speaking of which Captain, my young ladies were hoping you’d have dinner with us. They would love to meet the man I have been telling them about. I said you might take my job when I retire. They’d like to meet you.”

“Aye Sir.”

The CS moved through the rift.

….

* 109 PA (towards the end of the CS Tolkeen wars)

Mercer’s son lay dead. The spec ops team the Major was assigned to oversee were milling about guarding non-human prisoners and looking like they were itching to just kill the damn D-Bee’s and move on. Mercer had ordered the D-Bee group captured instead of killed. He knew the men were losing faith in him. They couldn’t understand why they were taking prisoners. Especially considering how bloodthirsty the Major ordinary was. Mercer’s son lay dead. Somewhere in the rubble of Tolkeen his only son lay dead. Jesse had wanted revenge but General Maverick had ordered his ops team to a new target. Mercer himself had shot the lizard man mage dead just minutes ago before it could cast any spells. Then ordered the team to capture not kill the rest. Mercer had sent a message to the Tolkeen freedom fighters about their location and detailing they had prisoners. The Tolkeen forces would likely be here soon to save the D-Bee’s.

Gunnery Sergeant Logan Brigham was making his way over to the Major holding out a radio towards Mercer. He could already hear Maverick on the radio screaming to just kill the mutants and mages and move on! Then the cadre of Cyber Knights had cut into them all. Killing his men and freeing the prisoners. Sir Redheart had cut his psi blade across Mercer’s face leaving him to die. He would have too had the freed D-Bee’s not saved him.

Returning to the present Jes looked at the CS General’s head slumped down in death and Mercer felt both relief and loss. There were people that needed saving.

Turning his attention to the crashed helicopter Mercer took a deep breath and toggled the jet pack on.

In and out of the flames. Several soldiers pulled out of the flames and destruction.

Kneeling next to a injured young man Mercer pulled out a med-kit and set about trying to save the man’s life. Triage told the former Major that this particular man stood a better chance at surviving than the others. Cries of pain frothed by dying mouths scattered around him, Jesse concentrated on the soldier before him.

Briefly looking around he was glad to see a few of his traveling companions had joined him in the process of saving lives. He worked fast and quietly trying to not become the attention of the murder wraiths.

Utilizing Ophelia’s mind link Mercer tells Big Joe and the woman of the extreme danger the Ley Line imposed. Telling them to stay as far away from it as possible.

Holding the energy rifle above himself with telekinesis he fires off a shot or two at the wraiths as his hands work on trying to save a life.

Continuing to patch up the soldier in front of him Mercer sees one of the murder wraith jerk towards his location. Grumbling under his breath Jesse grabs more gauze and tape and keeps working on the soldiers injuries. ”Damn fools. What the hells are you all doing out here man.”

The soldier removes their helmet with their one good hand and Mercer realizes they are a she.

”My father, where is he? … Where is my father, General Maverick? … I’m … I feel dizzy. I know you. Dad recommend you for promotion… to General… Uncle Jes?”

Mercer shushed the young woman as he worked, thankfully it looked like she had passed out. Mercer tried to not throw up once he realized who he was patching up and he could hear the undead juicer getting closer…

Joe sees the injured people and regrets it instantly. He was hear to kick ass, but sometimes the lives of others get in the way. What kind of a scum bag would leave them like that? Well, that was not Joe. Reaching out Joe begins healing the passengers. His healing powers where some of the best there was and this was something he could do in his sleep, heck, he did not even need to regrow a limb for these guys.

Looking at Mercer and the bald lady he says. "I can get these guys, it is kind of my niche. The only thing I do as well as fighting. If you stop those things so I have breathing room." But as he speaks he sees the bald lady finally catch up and start healing just as good as he did. "Ah man, what the hell. You are better than me at it. Well, I can at least help."

The work is hard, it was not enough to close up the wounds of the men in the crash. One of them, a very attractive female enlisted, was trapped, her legs pinned under the seat. Joe's remarkable training and fitness was enough he was able to put to work pulling and straining to get the seat off of her. One he healed her Joe smiles and winks at the Corporal. "Name Joe, if you have time after we are done saving you. Maybe we could grab a drink?"

Excerpt from the recorded field journal of Sgt Angus "Wild Dog" Murphy.
Well, after the chopper went down, I thought we were dead boys in more ways than one. Me, Carlos and Corrine were all pretty badly wrecked up, and even if the ground didn't have nasty dead things walkin' 'round,I don't think any of us was up to the task of stitchin' up the other two enough to get anyone moving.

And there were dead things walkin' 'round. The three of us just lay there--Corrine's leg seeping blood with every heartbeat, Carlos's good looks wrecked with burn tissue, my arm looking more like a pretzel than a human limb--and waited for one to find us. Sure enough, we caught sight of one of 'em in the moonlight, about a hundred yards away, and sniffing us out like some sorta hound dog would.

Then all of a sudden, it jerked its head 'round, like it heard something. A moment later, just as it reoriented itself on our scent, it happened again. This time, I saw what hit it--a pine cone! A mother-fuckin' pine cone! The creature stalked off in the direction the 'attack' came from, and I just kinda stared dumbly, still too broken up to move.

Next thing I know, there she was, just standing among the three of us; later, Carlos and Corrine both admitted they ain't seen her come up on us, neither. Some old woman in cheap mall-cop body armor, with a pop-gun laser pistol and a vibro-blade that looked like it might have dust on the pommel. She just smiled at us--and, seriously, it was like bein' praised by your Granny, least it was for me.

"Well, now, this doesn't look so bad," she said, quietly, but with a confidence I've seen four-star generals try to fake. "We'll have the three of you up and marching in step in no time at all."

She musta seen the look on my face--one of us, maybe, but no way she was gettin' out of there with all three. I was about to tell her to take Corrine--yeah, it's chauvinist, so what?--when she put a finger to my lips. "None of that, young man. Arguing will just draw
them back before I'm done." And then she gets to work.

I gotta admit, for an old broad, she worked fast. Sling, splint, gauze, tourniquet, makeshift crutch... she pulled all the basics out of the chopper's medkit that had fallen nearby, and pretty soon I'll be damned if she didn't have us up and walking, if not exactly in parade march style. Which was good, 'cause of course, it was only a little bit after that, that....

Over the mind link he can't help but be snide, "There are some of Dunscons boys here with a couple murder wraiths, should I offer them candied Space Wasp and sing Forge Day hymns?.... That was rhetorical, I am going to kill them." Noting the movement in the dome he first touches the tattoo of the sandals of Hermes on his left thigh."Dome team: note that there's there's movement in the dome. I'll move up to engage the wraiths, the rest of you deal with the tree-juicers."

The Undead Slayer pushes his hood back and gives her a predatory grin, allowing his cloak to also fall open and reveal his many tattoos. "You have until I'm done with the wraiths, or my friends get bored, to run for your fucking lives." He then touches the tattoo of Atlas on his back and his normally dusky hued skin takes on a marbled look and he rushes the wraiths, his magically enhanced pace making his normal walking pace into a full sprint.

As he moves past the juicers he hears the roar of Lukes plasma blast.

She scans the area through her scope, swinging a look past the domes before focusing in on the Juicers in the trees. Cass catches a glimpse of the worn t-shirt just before Luke blasts the poor fanboy to a pile of ash. She'd never liked that fan name anyway.

Jenny was obviously looking for any excuse to go out in her blaze of glory. Juicers were almost like undead in Cass's mind. Giving up their humanity one jolt at a time for the mindless rush to the gory end. Putting this one down would be an act of mercy and with any luck would minimize the collateral damage. Also, who in their right mind made murder wraiths?! Cass took aim and put two laser shots into Jenny, hoping to at least disrupt her charge.

With no more time for speaking, Tasura aims his right hand at the nearest Juicer. The red zircon set into the soulcaster worn on that hand scintilates briefly before unleashing a fiery stream of magic. The

Rock Outcropping, Helicopter crash, -4, 8 tokens needed
The team at the helicopter site gathered the coalition soldiers on one side of the wreckage, still on the rocky outcropping but the zombies had paused for a moment rending the lone left body of General Maverick apart. The soldiers looked like they were on the right side of being alive but most of them were sickened by the General’s screams. A pale faced Angus pulled away from Ophelia’s care and yelled pointing at the general left behind about 30 feet up on the rock outcropping“The General!! You frackers left the one person who knew what the frak was going on!”

Half conscious and pinned underneath the wreckage General Davies Maverick breathed his last breath and yelled trying in vain to warn the would be heroes of an impending doom. But fate would have it that he was cut short by three zombies mauling apart what was left with his face and tearing into his stomach ripping him in half, “It was the S- Akkkk!”

The zombie that had taken a bio sample canister disappeared down the opposite side of the outcropping. Things went from worse to bad when coming from behind the three zombies gorging on the general another five zombies shambled forward. These new zombies actually seemed older and by the look of their clothes and sigils were bodies from the Federation of Magic.

Angus cursed, “Prosek’s bees, more of those Zombies! At least they are not the kind that decimated the lab.” He scowled covering his desire to run. He had seen enough, and just wanted to get back to his desk in Eldorado and write his damn report.

Kasandra Mavrick, nodded looking at surviving soldiers. Her eyes had big tears in them, but she fought them back. Even though her dad had just died she had a job to do. “Sarge is right lets get these zombies then make for the lab. We have a code Black situation, and must enact burn protocol at any cost. My father…” She looked at Mercer wanting to say something… She just took his hand briefly and nodded drawing courage. She glanced at Big Joe and Ophelia as well nodding to each a quick but grateful thank you. ” My name is Lt. Kassandra Maverick part of the CS reserch team sent from Fort Eldrado. No doubt you’re what my cousin would call big damn heroes. We need your help to clear these zombies, and then we need need to get to those labs. We found a bio matter near the ley line that transformed some of the research team into something more powerful than even a murder wraith. ” Her eyes flashed with authority silencing a few protests from more the ardent soldiers. Nearby the ley line continued to crackle as more and more energy seemed to build up with in it. The soldiers and scientists were not well armed but they all had their laser pistol side arm in hand and looked to the heroes for direction.
Big Joe
Should you make it out of this alive and check your pocket, you would find a scrap of paper with a note containing an address in Fort Eldarado. The young CS soldier you helped whispered, “Find me when this is over.”
Notice -4, (-2 if you do not have a reliable way to see in darkness) this is an invisibility effect
From the hight of the rock outcropping about 200 yards on the opposite side of the leyline, there was a clearing in the forest. Suddenly the surrounding trees in the clearing rustled and swayed as if something large was moving near them. A large airship was taking off!
The Domes, -4 task, 12 tokens
Laser fire erupted from the trees as the juicers suspended by their harnesses returned fire on the team below. The head Juicer, Jenney Jergins eyes flashed again as she released the nanites in her juicer harness stiching her wounds in a matter of seconds. She yelled at her comrades, “They want blood, lets give them blood! Give Kev and time! Anyone have eyes on Drokratha?” As she spoke she added to the burst of laser fire, firing her own JA at the heroes. The two juicers that had dropped the forest floor reached the CS scientist still moaning in front of the lab doors. One checked the scientists vitals, careful to not touch his back. The other pulled out a radio and whispered something into it.
Notice -4, -2 for Antipas
The juicer sporting a green Mowhawk called into the radio, “Captain Gaiter this is Boyals we have the package. Ready for pick up…. Oh Jergins was wondering if you had eyes on Dokratha?”
Once the laser fire abated Luke, Cass, Clark, Lois, and Antipas all found themselves victims of well aimed shots. Although in Clark’s case it was a narrow miss. Tasura killed the one juicer that could have easily gotten a bead on him. Antipas not only found himself under laser fire but the one remaining murder wraith charged at Antipas slashing menacing with his vibro blade. No doubt the scond murder wraith would have charged Antipas but a well timed bolt of spiritual energy disintegrated it. The clothes the wraith wore were tattered and looked loose possibly at one time a vest and cloak. The souless eyes of the wraith peered into Antipas as they locked in immortal combat. One word dripped from its cruel spit soaked maw, “Atlantean!”

Before the juicers or the heroes could keep up the fight the lights on the left dome blew out and twelve black oily sludge like humanoids quickly emerged ripping the side of the dome. The two juicers near the dome who were checking on the down cs scientist turned in horror cring out, “Frak, what is that!” They tried to raise their lasers but one of these sludge like humanoids slurpped over to them in a blink of an eye. It’s two vague arms split into a black web like morass and engulfed the pair. Their screams were silenced in a matter of seconds. Nothing was left of them other than skeletal remains.

Jergin’s swivled in the tree yelling, “They’re on our six! Frak, she said they were inert! Frak, where is Dokratha!” Jergin's then sternly commanded the Murderwraith, “Disengage and target those blobs!” As the wraith came down in mid swing for another blow it suddenly stopped. The wraith snapped its neck crookedly and moved away from Antipas back toward the domes. The juicers for the moment turned their focus away from the heroes toward the creatures coming from the now dark dome.

Zander, Luke’s AI pipped up over the com channel, ”If my sensor reading are correct this maybe the final stage of that bio destructive material we found should it interact with sufficient quantities of organic material. These things appear to be drawn to the surrounding life force, namely you and the juicers. If we are unable to stop them now they may head to Kngsdale next.”

The juicers opened fire on the black humanoid shaped blobs. Their laser fire and grenades peppered the new foe, but it was clear they were hardy and their semi amorphous nature let them seep and ooze quickly along the forest as they stretched and swirled throwing out elongated strands of black ichor propelling them into melee with anything alive. Any plant life they touched turned brown and brittle as its life force was drained. As the heroes faced the new foe underlying the dire situation the juicers began to try to coordinate their attacks with the heroes. Jenny Jergins yelled cackling and unclipping from her harness tumbling acrobatically to the ground, “Get out of the trees! Stay together watch each others backs!” She shrugged and smiled at the heroes seemingly glad to be able to shoot at something she had never shot at before.
Antipas
out of the corner of your eye you thought the sapling you carried quivered shaking its leaves as if chilled or frightened.

So a few folks got shot at and hit, resolve those attacks before you move to the below.
Luke, 9 to hit 26MD, JA-9 Variable Laser Rifle
Cassiopia, 14 hit 31MD AP3 JA-9 Variable Laser Rifle
Lois, 5 to hit 28 AP3 MD! Juicer tried to moved to get a better angle on Tasura but failed and took a last ditch shot at Lois JA-9 Variable Laser Rifle
Clark, Miss! JA-9 Variable Laser Rifle
Antipas, 10 hit, 25AP3 MD JA-9 Variable Laser
Antipas, fighting 13 damage 28AP10MD

So lets resolve both scenes with a quick encounter

Quick Encounter:
Make a combat skill roll at -4 (fighting, shooting, arcane skill)(keep in mind any wounds)
  • You can make a support roll to support yourself or another as another action (MAP applies) this would allow characters with split the seconds, or under speed, innate abilities to use their additional actions. Remember the max a support roll can aid you on a raise is +2.
  • You can use free or innate actions normally.
Shooting or arcane skill use: If at any point you use an arcane skill or shooting spend: 3D6+base power or rate of fire cost in ppts or ammo.
Allies unlooked for: both groups have a few allies willing to assist. Describe a way that either the juicers or CS soldiers aided you and get a +2!

Every success is one foe vanquished.

Dangerous Encounter:
If a character fails his roll in a dangerous situation he takes a Wound (or d4 Wounds with a Critical Failure). If he's the driver of a vehicle, it takes a Wound (or d4 with a Critical Failure). Wounds may be Soaked as usual. Success means the hero emerges with only Bumps & Bruises (page 125), and a raise means he escapes unscathed.

Luke moves forward towards the juicers downed by MY6's attacks, looking for a spare charged e-clip. Finding one on Stern's dead body he quickly discharges the entire clip into the side of Xander's storage capsule on Luke's belt. Within a few minutes Luke stands enshrowded in the protective shell that is Xander, full-charged. "You got to stop letting me go that long ..." "... I know. This world is so ..." " ... primitive."

"Ya'll being paranoid of me doing some research on the zombie-fing ooze ..."
" ... means we are going in blind fighting its fully realized form."

Two of Xander's arms take the bio sludge container and pry the top open. After dropping som bugs into the container, Xander proceeds to introduce various energy sources to see the oozes responses.

Xander returns the analysis in quick order while luke stands with a large weapon barrel wrapped around his right arm. The barrel pointed at the biomonstrosity. "Really Xander?" "Yes Luke!" "All right then."

With a very loud and booming voice Luke gives directions.

"Get the dead murder wraith's twice dead corpse over here near the trees and the downed Juicers."

"Anyone with a laser weapon. Set the frequency to 1.0 Giga Hertz on a rotating modularity."

"We need to fire on the biomonstrosity at the same time to lock it in place."

"Once locked we can then reposition it over the murder wraith's corpse and set the laser weapons to non-modular."

"The lasers will cause the monstrosity to explode and the murder wraith corpse will be charged to draw in the particles."

As he raises his right arm, his arm is sheethed in sleak metal casing. Utilizing his left arm to stabilize he directs the business end of "his weapon" towards the flailing monstrosity.

"On my mark, 3. 2. 1. Fire."

Antipas nods at Lukes battleplan then adds his own expertise, "I dunno what techno-ho-do you're cooking up but the lasers won't herd them very well, most of the energy will be avoided." He fires a couple shots into the mass and it does indeed flow around the shot, only suffering minimal contact.
He moves to stand with the juicers and on the way he whispers comfort to the sapling in Atlantean. "Fear not little one we will not be getting near that if possible." Then he speaks back up in "American" "Some of us will need to herd it with grenades, ion weapons, plasma, or any other dispersed energy weapons while the rest go at it with the laser thing." Again for emphasis he fires into the mass, but this time he targets the grenade belt on one of the fallen juicers. The explosion sends a large portion of the blob oozing in nearly the direction the rouge In'Valien indicated. He then looks at Jergins and raises and eyebrow.

She smiles and looks to two of her team. "Inky, Blinky, get your ion guns and wolfpack that thing."

Ophelia nods at Angus' outburst. "I sincerely regret the loss of your commanding officer. However, your Lieutenant is correct; lacking the general's knowledge, we need to put these things down, and quickly, before it has a chance to spread." She turns to Lt. Maverick. "Of course we will assist you. But there is one thing I want to know, in exchange--is this a CS research facility in the first place?" Once the question is answered, Ophelia nods. "Right then. Joe, Mr. Mercer, I suspect you two should take point. I will enhance our new allies' capabilities to make them more effective."

Setting deed to her words, she ghosts her way through the combat, only emerging long enough to either enhance her allies or slow down their foes. The surviving leadership of the Coalition troops find their perception of time drastically altered, letting them strike fast and hard--a pistol may not be as good as a rifle, but (effectively) two pistols....

Periodically, she uses her ghosting ability as the set to the Coalition Troop's spike--luring a zombie into the field of fire, then escaping by ghosting most of the way into the ground and escaping (she's not one-hundred percent certain about whether the claws of a zombie are sufficiently magical to harm her while intangible, and she has no intention of finding out tonight), while the troops open fire on the hapless animated corpse.

The ersatz strike-force cuts a hole in the abominations, felling no less than four, as well as generally staying safe, themselves.

The Coalition soldiers gathered by their lieutenant and Mercer can’t help but feel a sense of pride at Kasandra’s leadership abilities. She’d been engaged to Mercer’s son, Lt. Soren Mercer, until he had been killed in the CS-Tolkeen war by so called heroic Cyber Knights.

Jesse James Mercer shook his head and pushed aside the memories of Soren, and of the man who was like a brother to him - General Maverick - now dead. Under Ophelia’s leadership they had saved a good amount of the CS soldiers.

”Kas…err Lieutenant I agree it’s time to deal with these zombies.”

Pulling his trademark weapon, the CP 50 Dragonfire rifle off his back, Mercer unleashes several bursts of laser fire at the creatures.

”Head shots people.”

After the threat is eradicated Mercer nods at Ophelia who has ordered him and Big Joe to take the lead.

”Good job ell tee, gather your troups and let’s form a V formation and get to those labs.”

As they are about to advance on the labs Mercer gets a spine tingling sensation running down his back and then hears what sounds like a air ship lifting off. Even though it’s invisible, pointing the Dragonfire’s optics scope in the direction he feels arcane forces moving he can see the environment moving around an invisible force. This isn’t the first time as a RCSG trained soldier that he has tracked the invisible by sense and environmental reactions.

Still moving towards the labs with the others he mentions, ”Something big, VTOAL and invisible just lifted off over their. FYI.”

With practiced methodical proficiency the former Major follows his outward pointed rifle as they all move quickly, firing bursts at monsters as needed, he feels fast. Inwardly he thanks Ophelia.

upon the amorphus blobs as the Stone Master unleashes an inferno of burning death upon the enemy. Whenever one of the monstrosities attempts to close in on one of his allies (or recent enemies), the Lemurian peppers it with fire to slow it down.

As the battle rages on, Tasura keeps the barrage up. He's concerned about running out of energy, but thats less important than protecting his friends and allies, temporary though they might be. The Stone Master's fire doesn't stop until the battle ends.

Cass drops flat to the ground, but it’s not enough. As the Juicer’s lasers thunk into her armor, searing her skin and sending shocks down her limbs, the Atlantean scrambles for cover. She hears Jergin, the one she’d aimed at in the trees, call for a retreat and then Luke’s voice starts calling out instructions to focus on the biomonstrosity. For a moment she’s confused about which entity he means, but then she see’s everyone’s focus is on the black sludge coming at them from the shredded dome. Drawing on a lifetime of conditioning, Cass wills the pain to the back of her mind and shuffles sideways to find a clear shot. There are trees and juicers and lots of movement between her position and the blobs. Finally she takes careful aim, modulates her rifle as Luke directed and concentrates her shots at a single blob.

Clark remains calm, pulling back the string on his spirit bow. He waits until the perfect moment then fires a white streak of light into one of the juicers throats. In the distance a strange squeal can be heard: Lois is on the move

When Mavric asks for help Joe has no way to say no. It was just not in him to let a lady down. Snapping to action he follows baldies orders and head to the front with a splash of gun fire blinding the assailants on his way forward. Then as soon as he closed he summoned his swords to hand and began doing his best to distract the monsters and keep their attention on him while the others finished them off.

Joe was good, but every man has his limits, as in the middle of the fight while walking backwards he trips and stumbles over an unexploded rocket. The crack to his noggin was enough to hurt, but not enough to keep him out of the fight.

Spoon Fed Edition
Zero 1 9ner After Action debrief, part 1

Alone in a steel room with two chairs the CS ranger paced. One wall had a mirror. The door opened and a battle worn man entered. He had a salt and pepper beard. The two sat in the chairs. Zero 1 9ner still had his helmet on.

The man put a folder on the table. He smiled at the helmed ranger before him, “I am major Wolfe. From reading your report you ran into operative Mercer? And gave him the coded word Kid, however it had little effect…. Interesting.

Zero 1 9ner nodded, “Yes Sir.”

The major nodded and pointed to the helmet on the soldier, “Please remove your helm soldier and prepare.”

Zero 1 9ner removed the helm and glanced at the mirrored wall behind him.

With monsters that will plague your dreams destroyed, the two teams converged near the labs. The left dome was dark, power having gone out and several large holes were torn in the dome’s translucent fabric walls. The right dome was brightly lit, no shadows stirred within it. The forest near the domes was horrific. Trees and shrub mangled as if the very life force of the earth had been stripped away. Dead, decaying, blackened vegetation littered the ground near the domes.

Returning from the crash site, Mercer, Ophelia, and big Joe had seven CS soldiers and scientists with them. One soldier in particular had dark brown hair, fearless brown eyes, her face had that dirty rugged fair complexion. She seemed to be in command, and the markings on her uniform would identify her as a Lt. These coalition forces seemed to have formed a quick bond with the rescue team sticking close to their saviors. Big Joe might have even picked up a girl friend who clung to him as if her life continuing was dependent on how close she was to Big Joe (out in the wild it probably was). In fact all three female CS soldier/scientists seemed to stick rather close to Joe.

Greeting them, Clark, Tasura, Antipas, Cassiopia, and Luke all likewise made some unlikely bedfellows. Several Juicers were milling near them in hushed conversation, picking through the remains of their fallen comrades. A couple juicers were looking at the dome team in absolute wonder. If it were not for these heroes how many of team juicer would have made it? All had mowhawks and all had a fatalistic sense of post apocalyptic fashion. One of them looked at the new comers, her smile said Let’s dance with a fusion block between our bellies. She had a firey red hair, with incandescent eyes to match. Possibily a mega juicer. She was yelling into a hand held radio, “Gaiter you son of Tarin! You better get us out of here!”

A pause and a static voice came back over the radio. The reply sounded distracted and male, “Uh… Sorry Jenny, I wish...” Gaiter was suddenly cut off.

A female voice took over the radio. The voice was hoarse, deep, and filled with consuming dread. “Jergins, your services for the federation of magic are no longer needed. But know this, I will raise your dead body into one of my horrors. In death you will finally have meaning. That will be the everlasting payment you deserve. Know my name Jergins, Dokratha will have your soul!”

Jergin's’ eye burned brightly. She cursed into the radio a string of expletives that not even the long lived True Atlanteans had heard before. The radio went dead. One of the other juicers wearing a KH grungy t-shirt smiled chuckling, “Wow boss. Looks like you got your retirement plan all set up. Hahaha.”

Jenny couldn’t help but return the smile and chuckled herself, “Shut it Crackers. We got to plan our next move… Maybe Kingsdale.”

Interjecting into this conversation Luke’s AI Zander chirped surprisingly over a loud speaker so all could hear regardless of what faction they were with. “I have been monitoring communications… I have temporarily managed to break into a secure coalition frequency…. Processing…. Processing… It seems our position is about to be overrun by skelebots.” As if emphasizing this revelation a faint clanking and crunching could be heard coming closer from all sides. They were closing in fast, mere seconds away!

Suddenly, 100 feet away the leyline discharged a streak of ionized energy that nearly hit Antipas. Instead it scorched the ground turning it into glass. The line looked like it was bubbling and throbbing with energy. Containing something it could simply not. The coalition Lt. Yelled, “Don’t let the energy from the line touch you! Uncle…. I mean Mercer, we have the equipment in the dome on the right to safely discharge it.” She paused calculating if she had time for a brief introduction and explanation to the new heroes and juicers.

She went for it, time be damned. ”I’m Lt. Maverick, Kassandra. I don’t know if Mercer filled you in but that leyline is going to rupture and explode.” She looked at Luke, for the first time…. Blinked and continued pointing at the Invallin, “Like he said, skelebots probably have us surrounded, probably a search and dystroy unit. 20-35 bots. A second wave is probably holding back, larger much larger. An area wide containment unit.” She pointed south west. “Carriers dropped off the skelebots, and Jets are probably in bound with ghost buster bombs out of Elderado.” She wipped blood from her cheek and sweat from her brow, “Frak, this was supposed to be just an easy respond and research. Ophelia, you asked me about our mission here. We got a call three days ago, from one of our long ranging scouts about weird line activity. We are fast response team, so we set up a mobile research op and then the General, my father, showed up eight hours ago. Had everyone pack up, we were last, something went wrong with the bio samples we had found…” She chuckled at the absurdity, “He’s dead. Why am I telling you my life’s story? This Leyline, if it explodes… 30 to 50 miles in every direction will be gone…. Gone, gone.” Her voice trailed off at the finality of her own words. She mumbled, ”Maybe if we had a vehicle we could outrun it, but all those skelebots… They won’t let us leave.”

The leader of the remaining juicers Jergin’s cackled loving the danger. She opened her pack and pulled out a small audio speaker, she tapped a few buttons and it suddenly started to play the legendary musicians Kole’s auspicious but throaty cover track, Titanium. Jergin’s grinned slapping a fresh e-clip into her laser rifle, “What’s the play heroes? We got a few moments to figure it out. Skelebots breathing down our neck, a line about to go nova, no ride, and just each other.” She, four juicers, 7 CS soldiers and scientists looked up to the heroes hoping beyond hope for a miracle.

I am bullet proof,
Fire away…. Fire away…
I am bullet proof,
Fire away…. I am titanium.

Clark
Those ooze monster’s were anything but natural. The forest near the domes was decimated, you cannot sense any plant life within 20 feet of the domes. Also Lois, was injured in the brief fire fight with the Juicers. The dino limps near and nuzzles you yelping. A young juicer with a pink mowhawk, and green eyes approached clark and the wounded Lois.

She smiled sheepishly, like a naughty kid. “Sorry….” She thrust a healing kit into Clark’s hand and ran quickly back to the other Juicers.
+2 to one healing check.
Mercer
After being this close to the Leyline for a bit, You reckon you got maybe a minute, two or three tops before it blows sky high. Given where the group parked the van. Maybe, maybe the group could reach it, and maybe out run this massive explosion. Your training is telling you there is a lot of maybes.
Legionaires
You know a few farming communities would be wiped out if a leyline took out a 20-30 mile swath. Kingsdale was a days travel away and might even be in the blast radius!
Ophelia
Curiously, you are picking up mental images and stray thoughts from Angis. Mom…. No not her, but looks so close… For a brief moment you got a picture from him depicting you in a CS uniform.
Antipas
Your sapling tree does not look good. Something about those black oozing blob creatures had sucked the life out of so much vegetation around the domes. The sapling shook, almost as if visibly distraught.

A lot to unpack here. You all have basically an a turns worth of actions to do something, prepare, and set a course. Please RP, and feel free to ask me questions in Discord. Whatever you decide we will resolve in some manner. I would say, any course of action will result in some kind of difficult challenge to overcome. Inaction will be the course that gets you killed.

A note about powers, if you have previously activated powers and are wanting to keep them up, please pay mantience cost in ppts.

Your VW van is about a half mile away, and most likely a host of Skelebots are between you and it.

"Well we are going to need cables, and rods, and heavy weapons."

"If we have the right parts we are going to convert leyline energy into heavy weapon rounds."

Luke and Xander head off quickly to Dome 2 to check out the equipment and gear.

Over his shoulder to Jenny, "I am able to convert the weapons to fire arcane energy. However, I cannot gaurentee that I can return the weapon to its original specifications afterwards."

Mercer looks from his niece, Lt. Maverick to Ophelia. There is genuine concern on his face.

Pinching the bridge of his nose and grimacing the RCSG scientist grumbles then loudly states to everyone…

“We are looking at a 50 miles explosion!

We have maybe a minute, two or three tops before the Ley Line blows sky high.

Given where we parked the van. Maybe, maybe we could reach it, and maybe out run this massive explosion. Mmm but I’m thinking it’s too many maybes. Sounds like we need to discharge the energy using the CS equipment in the dome. Whatever we do, @Ophelia Monk we gotta do it fast.”

Mercer side eyes the pulsing Ley Line then grunts.

When his niece Lt. Maverick says:
equipment in the dome on the right to safely discharge it.”
Mercer nods and says to @Ophelia Monk”I said I’d follow your lead… let me grab the Lt here and zip over to the dome. I’m fast. I’m wearing a jet pack. I can help her do whatever needs to be done to discharge the exploding Ley Line. Afterwards I’ll join in on the Skelebot bash. Okay?”

OOC NOTE TO THE GROUP
This was just a quick info dump in character to the party. I’ll be posting more from Mercer ASAP.
"Easily 50 miles, Mercer."

"If we had a Spluggie Skiff we could cruise the discharge clear to Kingsdale."

"Speaking of sky high. I believe there is one of earth's low orbit platforms passing overhead as well. Not quite a satellite but certainly not a starship either."

"The blast going up would certainly send us into space."

"How are skelibots supposed to contain this? The CS develop some nega-psychic tech into the recent mdoels?"

"Lt. Maverick, what of the surroundings here? Is there a safe place for us to direct the discharge?"

"I believe there were some small towns heading in the direction of Kingsdale from the last time the Legion passed through here."

The forlorn Lt. Maverick sighed, she was one step toward the dome and looked at @Luke. Her voice had lost some of its command like tenor. She looked defeated as if this was a no win situation. She scoffed, “Best we can do is send the blast into the upper atmosphere or space. My team did not have time to do a complete geological survey of the surrounding area. As for the Skelebots, they are not meant to contain the blast from the leyline. They probably don’t even know it’s about to explode like a tidal wave of fire, a slow roll of death and destruction. No the skelebots are to make sure nothing leaves the area so they can bomb it. My…. My Dad’s, General Maverick’s last…. Last transmission was to Scorch Earth this location…” Her voice petered off and she wondered aloud, “Why didn’t I listen to Jude and get out?”

Such a random disregard for life.

All right Lt, keep your head on straight and we will get through this.

What is standard CS protocol?

How long between the skelibots arrival and the nuking?

Possibly catch the jets in the leyline discharge.

It's going to be one DAMN big ray gun. Anyone got outside in the charged zone is dead several times over.

Noticing Treeberts distress, Antipas moves away from the blighted areas without going too far from the team. He tries to find a patch of relatively undisturbed plant life and pulls the sapling from the sling to get it closer to the survivors. "I know it's bad little guy but some of your pals are ok. It's rough being with us but we'll find your rooting place, I promise."

Antipas glances as the energy blasts next to him and sighs, then he takes in the low down of the situation and seems mostly nonplussed. "In summation the coalition found something they didn't understand, made it worse, and are now trying to kill the only people who can stop it... sooo it's Tuesday?"" He looks questioningly to Luke and Cass, "Or is that Saturday?"

Then he looks at the Coalition LT. "Regardless, we don't have time for grief or navel gazing. If you want to rethink your life choices maybe do it after you help save the day. I hear your cousin is pretty good at that, be like him. Just not too much like him." It was certainly alarming to him that the newly "defected" Mercer should run into CS officers who were family so soon. It went straight past coincidence and smelled of enemy action. But then again there was the fact that it was the Maverick family, whose fates seemed strongly tied to that of the Legion and if there was anyone who could understand getting jerked around by fate Pas was that guy but still
the situation certainly bore watching.

Picking up the vibro blade of a fallen murder wraith he checks in with @Ophelia Monk "I'm guessing the general plan is we meatheads slap around Proseks murder bots while you big brains kit bash a solution? I'm thinking Jergins and her team take to the trees while myself and any of the rest of us not helpful in the big mojo hit em from the ground. Maybe feint a push at the VW like we're trying to make a break and hopefully it pulls more away from here."

" @Antipas those skelibots are going to arrive as the blast is going off."

"If the skelibots survive, highly unlikely, then we would need to worry about them."

"Whatever we do on the ground, between riding out the blast/sheltering in place or redistributing the discharge should be sufficient to scare off the jets with their payloads or catch their dumbasses before they are able to drop their payloads."

"Brother, I know you want to fight skelibots but anyone caught outside when the discharge goes off will die without the thrill of blazing out." Luke looks to the Juicers. "It will be instantaneous. And you will be vaporized." As if Luke was doing a magic trick he makes a ball of light appear in his hands and then it explodes and the light goes out.

@mercer @Ophelia we need to get an idea where the epicenter will be.

Lt we need as much of dome 1's frame work stripped. Take the entire dome down.

Take the cables and wiring and run them in a fan shape from dome 2 running south east.

We take the capacitors and the coils to walls of dome 2. The scaffolding and frame from dome 1 will be wrapped around dome 2's exterior.

Luke enters Dome 2 and sees parts and components. Luke to Xander, not exactly to spec but we can adapt them for the needs.

Xander to Luke, You thinking of repeating the capture of the red Dwarf star Ceralus?

Luke to Xander, Except we aren't fueling a starship.

Stepping back outside, Luke and Xander have their arms full.

Grab those murder wraiths and prop them up here and here. Luke notes the locations with huge wooden crossbeams staked into the ground.

Jenny grab up those spare laser rifles. I got a feeling you are going to love shooting anything with these modifications.

Ophelia sends a surge of psychic energy through her established effect, keeping some of her allies (and herself) moving at double-speed. She listens, and when spoken to, replies.

She gives a bemused smile to @Mercer. "Oh, am I in charge again? It's so hard to keep track..." Then she shrugs. "Very well." She turns to the Lieutenant. "The play here is to do exactly what my associates have dictated. Luke will make good use of your equipment, your scientists simply need to give him the extra hands to get the set-up done. Your soldiers should probably take up positions of cover; some of the 'bots may arrive before we're ready to send their disassembled parts into orbit."

She glances over at the Juicers. "Since you seem to be stuck here with us, I would recommend doing the same--cut down anything that gets close enough to shoot."

She regards @Antipas. "With one exception, yes. I shall be part of the 'Meathead' group--while some of my most potent powers are useless against the bots, their simple AIs are actually rather easy to confound, and I have little technical expertise to be able to help Luke's efforts. I will, of course, do my best to not get in your way."

She turns again to address the various folks who had been tossed in with them. "And Antipas has, in his own, unique way, made a point I was going to, anyway." Noting the flash she got off of Angus, she adopts a downright matronly smile as she addresses all of them. "After this current mess is over, I just want you all to keep in mind that on the application form for the Legion, under 'Reason for Wanting to Join', the most common box checked is labeled, 'My former employer wants me dead.' Just something to think on." Seed hopefully planted, she finds someplace she can observe and target the upcoming field of battle, but hopefully not be a particularly notable target.

Luke takes the cable ends nearest dome 2 and connects them in a random way that seems to make sense to him.

With the pattern completed and cables running from rods to capacitors to power cells and murder wraiths, Luke finishes the setup by tweaking the power settings and the e-clips of a few JA-13s. Handing the weapons to the juicers, he then hands each a cable

"Plug in! This is a concert you will never forget."

"The fan and the dome will take care of shielding anyone from the leyline."

@Antipas "Brother, you want to go toe-to-toe with the skelibots do it on the north west side of the dome."

@Pender Lumkiss "LT. Get one of your men on radio's monitoring all your CS frequencies. We need to know the jets are here before they know we are here."

@Mercer "If you want to fly and keep eyes in the sky. Do it above the fan."

"Ninety Percent of the discharge will go off above the dome. It should mask you flying pretty well. Blinding most normal sensors in the process."

"We need to move Lois and @Cassiopeia into Dome 2. We can triage and tend wounds there."

"Everyone. If you have noise suppression use it. It is going to get loud in here."

Big Joe was feeling pretty good and more than a little distracted by the attention he was getting from the ladies. As the conversation began maturing Joe felt lost by all the new developments in the conversation. The ley line exploding and killing everything around sounds pretty bad. Like a bomb from the sky bad.

"All this stuff is just way over my head. How about you just tell me what you need me to do and I can do it." He says accepting that the idea of using a bunch of Coalition gear to control a ley line made less since to him than poking a bull in the eye to calm it down. But if these guys thought it would work, it was better than a thousand dead bodies.

The Undead Slayer gives Clark a look over before answering "I call it Treebert for lack of anything better. Some magic tree I'm supposed to guide to it's "Place of Rooting". Seemed really important to some folks we helped recently." He gives Clark another look and seems to consider something. "You look... nartury and unlike to get shot at with plasma." He holds the satchel with Treebert out to Clark. "Keep him safe for me until this is over please? Given his reaction to the mess that goo caused I doubt inside the domes would be pleasant for him."

Clark nods solemnly. "I will guard it with my life. Of course, we need to make sure we live through this." He gingerly places Treebert in his knapsack and grabs a spear made out of a single piece of dark walnut, a fire hardened tip. He holds it with both hands, ready to use it.

Nodding he accepts the directions from @Luke. "Gotcha. I do really want to hit something today. Preferably lots of somethings."

While he is annoyed with Joe for being distracted, the youth's willingness to ask for direction gives the Atlantean a noticeable moment of pause that none of Joes attempts to get a reaction from Antipas had accomplished. "Well, if you have any healing left..." Antipas looks pointedly at the heavily wounded @Cassiopeia "Although I would expect far less swooning from her. If not it looks like you're up front with me."

”Tuesday. Definitely Tuesday for that activity. The coalition keeps a very strict schedule and Saturdays are for torturing innocents, I believe.”
She sways and closes her eyes. "That was a joke, Mercer. Please don't shoot me, I won't make it."

Luke here's Cass's voice as she'll yells his name and Mercer 's. She sounded good, not how she had a few minutes ago. He made a note to personally thank who ever was responsible.

"Great Gorgeous. I could use your hands right about now."

He turns around with his back towards Cassiopeia, "My shoulders are REALLY tense. Think you could work your magic on them?"

All of this is said while Luke tries to suppress grinning, chuckling, and laughter.

Ophelia smiles softly at the sight of Big Joe and Antipas actually developing a rapport. There will probably be some backsliding, of course, but it looks like a good start.

Then she blinks as Clark makes his announcement. A Millennium Tree? What on earth is going on here? She shakes her head. Right--as you say, keep it safe, at all costs. Perhaps when the current crisis is over, we can find a safe place to plant it. Add 'protect the plant' to our objective list, everyone.

"You know, I am not an expert. But last time I read about those things they were like a mile tall. This must be more like a decade tree." Turning to look out for any coming changes Joe thinks for a moment then asks. "So does this mean it needs our PPE to fuel it? Don't those things live off ley lines?"
As a note PPE is the in game world term for Rifts, so he is not being meta. And that is what he uses rather than manna or other generic term.

Luke cocks his head to the side, at @Big Joe's comment. "Not sure if we should shield it from the surge or plant it in the epicenter?"

"Either way the Ley Line is right there."

"See how the little tree responds to proximity and the surge."

Spoon Fed edition
Nemisis and Architect
High above, invisible and in the heavens, as if watching children playing with their toys. Nemisis, a godess shook her head. She was surrounded by a dark swirling void. The image she was looking at of the heros was displayed in front of her much like a projected movie. Her radient, yet stern face was wrought with concern. “They have so much responsibility on their shoulders already…. Will they survive this Architect?”

From the void an unseen rumbling voice responded, ”They must…. The Skelebots are firing.”

Nemisis’ eyes darted to the west, and the image swirled and reformed. She was now watching a jet bomber zooming through the air, “Architect how did you do it? Live umong them? Can you please at least delay the jet?”

“For a moment.”

The image in the void that Nemisis was peering at swirled for a moment and then the Jet was back. Flying head on towards it was a sleigh being pulled by 8 reindeer! Last second the Jet swerved altering its course at least for the moment.
+1 benny! Merry Christmas.
Skelebots filed in enough pairs to completely surround the domes. Thirty mechanized voices cried out as one, “By the Emperor’s command cease and desist your illicit activities and prepared to be pacified.” Above them 15 small (breadbox) sized drones hovered and jetted towards the heroes and allies.
Mercer, common kn -2
The Drones were Fairly new CS tech, Mrk 1 Prosek Pacifiers.
The infant mellenium tree shook as the bots started to fire. A warm glow came from the tree surrounding Clark. Freshly healed Lois roared and put herself between Clark and them. Several Skelebots targeted the beast, “Target acquired. Heel dinosaur heel…. Please control your dinosaur.” Blast, blast!

Angus looked at the dino and skelebots, he grimaced as the realization that they were surrounded dawned on him. He tried to shield Ophelia best he could having stuck next to her as she found cover. Again Ophelia got a sense that he saw her as someone else. The CS soldier yelled, “Drone strike!!” He did not see the four skelebots opening fire 20 yards to his left on their covered position.

His words were drowned out by Jenny the mega juicer who cackled as the night moon broke through the splattering cloud cover. In the trees she and the remaining four juicers hefted Luke’s modified rifles, “Haha, let’s give the Deebs guns a whirl. Open fire!” The juicer’s fired and from their rifles erupted an electric blue light show.

All too soon an electrified field of energy bubbled out several hundred yards. Those inside the center were treated to an aweinspiring shimmering blue paintscape. It was only marred by incessant progress of the Skelebots as they broke the tree line descending on the camp. The drones above, however, as the expanding field hit them all exploded prematurely. Only one pair of skelebots seemed affected by the damaging field and halted their March, the rest raised their laser rifles and grenade launchers prepared to fire. “By the command of the Emperor lay down your arms… Please.”

The young CS lady soldier that was hanging onto Big Joe frowned her pretty lips and smarted, “Please? Freaking civility programming.” Tink…. Tink…. Several Grenades landed at her and Joe’s feet. She twisted her body as if tryimg to shield the hero from the blast. She breathlessly yelled, “Watch out Joe!”

Jenny Jergin’s laughed from above Antipas. Her red glowing eyes were filled with joy and betrayed just how close to death she was. From the speaker hanging on her neck Kole’s Titanium song ended as did the speaker’s battery. She called down to Antipas as the skelebot’s opened fire, “We all thought she had died after the New Town concert…. Do you think Kole could sign my Rifle?” She chuckled, “At least you guys are a bit more friendly than that glitter girl and baby…” What ever else she was going to say was cut off by laser fire peppering her position above Antipas.

Inside the Dome, the CS scientists lead by Lt. Maverick were all business. The LT. barked orders getting the equipment all set up, “Rogers help The Deebe with the cables, Calvin move those computer over here we will need their juice to modulate the dispersement. Alice prep the Omega Unit.”

After a couple of tense heart beats the CS had everything ready to go and were huddled next to some keyboards and monitors working the problem. Calvin, a pencil neck CS scientist pushed his glasses with a shaky hand up his nose and gulped. LT. Maverick nodded looking more than worried. She looked at Mercer, Luke, and Cassiopeia her voice caught in her throat. The monitor’s readout explained the dire situation.

Xander pipped up, echoing hauntingly in the dome ”Your calculations are correct Lt. The leyline has been artificially modified to explode. Theoretically dispersing the explosive energy of a natural forming explosive rift should be possible. But a line like this, effectivly trapped and tampered. Processing…. Processing…. It will be far more difficult. Luke we have a Promethian situation.”

The CS LT. Found her voice and shook off her doubt, “Common, there has to be a way…. Jess, what about the work you did in Carlsbad? That was an explosive rift right?”

Xander pipped up, “I calculate only a 10% chance of survival.”

Calvin pushed his glasses once again up his nose. Sweat poured down his face. He looked up at Cassiopia. He had to be about 30 or so years in age. A drop in the bucket for the long lived True Atlanteans. The blaring song of Titanium faded from the outside replaced by the concussive explosions of grenades and the artificial whine of laser blasts. He gulped again. He whispered to himself as much to her, “I was at that Concert outside New Town…. The leyline there had gone heywire too... She saved us.” He clicked on the computer keyboard. On his side monitor were the words: Are you her?

The forest alight in a blue light erupted in a cacophony of grenades and laser fire that were directed at the domes. All the while zapping along the leyline an orange dull glow started to spread across it an indication that soon it would explode.
Step 1) Go to your scene below
Step 2) Roll a support roll if applicable per directions
Step 3) Roll your scene skill roll at the penalty (factor in modifiers)
Step 4) Narrate it all. Feel free to make up whatever you like based on your skill roll and the outcome of the roll. Maybe you modify the CS gear to do something unexpected. Maybe you notice something in the “data” that can lead to a desired outcome.

Pender Lumkiss wrote: Sun Dec 19, 2021 4:35 pm All too soon an electrified field of energy bubbled out several hundred yards.

What?? .. Fuck! He quickly grabs the juicers anchor line in one hand and cuts it with the other hoping Jenny and her gear are more weighty than he is. And while he does have to jump to get things moving, she is. He is propelled upwards and by kicking off a few branches he intercepts the juicer as she falls, catching her in one arm as their now counterbalanced weight leaves them swinging wildly. Timing his release of the rope to drop them behind some cover, they tumble to the ground largely unhurt by the laser fire. "Fulfill your death wish tomorrow, we still have business."

Then he turns and walks into an oncoming plasma blast deliberately taking it full force to divert the detonation from the now unemployed lackey. It's a good solid shot that manages to severely burn the undead slayer. It leaves him staggered as well as burned but before the robotic assault can follow up ley line enhanced laser shots tear into the heavy weapon armed skelebot. "Not if you keep doing shit like that. I'll shot the plasma guys, you stab the other ones. We can negotiate later."

Shaking off the daze Antipas Steps up to cleave the heavies partner. "Deal if you let me use one of your grapple guns."

From up in the branches he notices @Ophelia Monk moving with ghostly silence around an approaching group. Ophelia, I am above and behind you 20 yards. Would you be able to get that groups attention and draw them below me? With the request he sends his view of her position to help orient her to where he is.

Architect turned and smiled at Nemesis. "Think on this question while I give you the answer to your question."

"Why do we keep coming back to Earth? Regardless of the time or place, how many times have we come back to Earth and why?"

Architect contined while Nemesis thought, "Where else in the Three Galaxies can you go and find a species like humans?"

"They are their own worst enemies and yet they thrive."

"They have blown themselves up. Set fire to Earth countless times. Their resiliency is amazing and only matched by their ingenuity and creativity."

"One of the reasons I find myself coming back is to watch them deal with an overcome the next big thing."

"If anything should be more aparent is that humans can literally give hope to any other being, sentient or not."

Chuckling to himself in his deep throated way, "I pity the fool who thinks they have conquered the human species and forced them to submit."

During the first wave of the battle, Ophelia sticks primarily to confounding the Skelebots' not-quite-true-AIs, a tactic which proves effective, though arguably hampered by the strain of keeping the psychic link and accelerated perception on her allies. Still, she arranges for some of them to be more easily taken out by the CS troops.

Furthermore, she's occasionally able to Ghost out and confound them. Once again, her set to Antipas' spike, getting the bots to swarm her position and then Ghosting to slip away again, while Antipas makes good use of the target-rich environment.

However, as she returns from one of those forays, she has only a moment to see the danger to Angus as he tries to protect her. Acting on some sort of instinct, she rushes forward, going straight through him, to solidify again, just as the Skelebots cut loose and cut her down, hard. For a moment she starts worrying about needing to join the Ley Line again, even as the notion of entering such a heavily disrupted Line brings a wave of anxiety. Still, she manages to avoid being completely incapacitated, leaving poor Angus to drag her to the closest semblance of safety he can find for her.

"My friends, I'm afraid that without some healing, I may need to drop our link soon. If that happens, please, remember--protect the sapling, and find out what happened to the Legion."

Clark pauses, stretching his senses outward. Much to his surprise, he feels a presence, Treebert, that touches his own mind, extending his gifts.

Moments later the nearby woods erupt with activity as scores of every type of animal run out, deliberately smashing themselves against the skelebots, falling on the ground in front of them and basically interfering with them as much as possible. Clark winces, regretting the sacrifice, but the tree must be saved at all costs.

He spots Ophelia and runs over to her, touching his hand to her shoulder. Ophelia feels a warm glow ripple through her body, touching the wounds, healing the majority of them.

The CS Lt. found her voice and shook off her doubt, “…come on, there has to be a way…. Jess, what about the work you did in Carlsbad? That was an explosive rift right?”

Mercer recalled the incident and cringed. The CS had forced all of their survivors of that incident to do a mandatory “re-education” for a month after that spectator shit show.

Sammy the Cat. Damn the memories.

A list of names rattled through his memories. People he was forbidden to talk about.

Sammy
Jobi
Seth Mehrik
Severin Fell
Lord Coake
Jade
The Maverick twins
Sir Sayeen Gabbersleaf
Carlos
Zieja
Cade
Erin Tarn
The list was long…

It had been an explosive rift. They’d all changed its fabric to lessen the damage. But. Damage was still done. Lives lost. So many lost.

Jobi. The entity in a necklace. It had helped Jessie Mercer live. After the incident he’d given the little thing to Sammy to wear.

It wasn’t like the then young lieutenant Mercer would have been allowed to return to base with the supernatural thing.

The trip down memory lane abruptly ended as Mercer wondered how the lieutenant could have had sufficient clearance to know about Carlsbad!

Looking from the CS to the Rift the former RCSG Major sighed heavily.

The answer was of course sacrifice.

Without warning Jesse Mercer huged Lt. Maverick and smiled at her. The former Major nods and walked towards the explosive Rift muttering out loud … “Sacrifice.”

Walking into the Ley Line, his black and grey peppered hair blowing from a fierce wind he opens himself up to the unstable energy.

Jesse James Mercer, former Coalition States expert on Ley Lines and the supernatural, concentrated on recalling the words that Sammy had taught them all.

Mercer knew this would likely kill him. Last time they had been thirty strong. Now he was going to try solo. He had to. Not just for Lt. Maverick and her troops. But. For his new friends.

Grinning as the unstable energy rippled over and then into his body he thought to himself that he rather liked them all. Aliens and mages. He liked them all. Worth his life.

Repeating the chant louder and faster more of the unstable Rift was siphoned out of the fabric of the anomaly and burned into his soul.

The Rift noticeably calmed, needing more than he could give to completely shift it into stability but he’d definitely given them all more time and a greater chance.

Dropping to his knees Mercer groaned and ran his hands through his now pure white hair. Coughing he threw up then lurched to stand upright.

Moving back out of the Ley Line he looked older.

He knew it. He could feel … the aging.

Coughing out a laugh Mercer reflected, at least he was now closer in age to Ophelia who he inwardly admitted to liking… a lot.

Shaking his head and clearing his thoughts Mercer walked up to Lt. Maverick.

”Sacrifice and the right words. Only in Carlsbad, which is very top secret we were stronger and there were more of us. That should have helped.”

Mercer moves to a tree and leans against it to watch the others. Looking and thinking about how he could further help.

"Promethian!"

The word hangs in the oppressive silence inside the dome.
Pender Lumkiss wrote: Sun Dec 19, 2021 4:35 pm Xander pipped up, “I calculate only a 10% chance of survival.”
As if it was pre-recorded and prepared just for this moment a voice pipes in

"Never tell me the odds." there is a pause, then it repeats sort of, "Never tell the odds to those with a shorter lifespan than mine."

When the CS personell give a look Luke and Xander's direction, "When 900 years old, you reach Look as good, you will not."

Then heading back to the problem at hand another voice pipes up over the PA system built into Xander, "Never go against an In'vailian when death is on the line." There is a weird sort of disembodied laughter that follows the last statement.

Luke shakes his head but hunkers over the CS equipment, his mind processing data and running formulae and outcomes.

Interlude:

Kalaya Kole felt the wind pick up. The breeze had been good to blow off the lingering summer heat that rose from the hard packed earth even after sunset. The opening acts had been great. Kole and her bandmates had cheered them on from the stage wings. They even stepped out and danced or played a bit with each group. The fans roared every time. They could feel the power of so many people singing as one, even along with choruses they’d never heard before this night.

Finally, after an interlude for everyone hit the beer vendors again and get the stage reset, Kalaya Kole and her band took the stage. They started with the newest single and the crowd throbbed with the beat of bass and drums. Thunder crashed against the time of the song, but the band kept playing. When the next burst of lightning across the sky lingered rather than slashed, Kalaya looked up. This wasn’t an ordinary storm. She could feel the ley line around them pulse. She closed her eyes, trusting her fingers and voice to carry on with the music while she sent her senses out, feeling for what wasn’t right. There! It wasn’t a storm. It was a rift, high above them, pulling energy through the ley lines, swelling without tearing. It wasn’t just opening, it was going to explode!
More

The song came to a crashing finale, and Kalaya stepped back, waving her guitarist to keep the crowd warm. The purple-haired woman gave her a questioning look, but stepped up and into her favorite jam piece. The rest of the band followed her lead. As soon as she was out of sight from the audience, Kayala took off at a run. The rift was going to explode! Everything would be leveled for miles around. These people who had gathered for the music would die in the blast. What could she do?

The ley line! The rift was pulling energy from at least the one the stage was set on. There must be a nexus up there where the rift was. In the tour ATV, Kalaya ripped through some of her Atlantean gear, looking for the right pieces. Soon she’d slapped a few pieces together in something that looked more like a bomb than a reciever, but it would have to do. She ran back to the stage and shoved aside a confused stage hand hovering behind the tower of speakers. She could hear Jax winding down. It only took a few second to wire the device to the amp. Another 10 seconds and she was back on stage with her favorite guitar. She plugged it in and waved the band quiet.

”We need your help on this next one. I’m sure you remember how it goes!” Kalaya prayed this would work as she started the opening cords for We Will Rock You. The band quickly filled in and the audience roared when they recognized the song. She barely had to sing, she just let her hands strum the music as she opened herself up to the leyline. She pulled the power into herself, down through the instrument pressed against her body and pushed it along the receiver out into the amps.

’Please, Hermes, please let this work.’ Kalaya prayed.. No Cassiopeia prayed to her ancient god of invention. Kalaya was just a vessel for the music and she was slowly being washed away with the power flowing through her body. ’More. I need to pull more!’ Cassiopeia Stromforge drew on the strength of her name and yanked on the leyline with everything she had. The power flooded through her, the lightning flashed again, the purple clouds seemed to glow and thunder rumbled, but was it softer? Was it working?

”WE WILL, WE WILL ROCK YOU!” *STOMP STOMP CLAP*

The sound of the crowd was louder than the thunder. She could feel the rift dissipating, the forces on the other side sliding away from where the barrier between the worlds had thinned and bulged like a balloon. She’d done it. They were saved. She let the last screams of her guitar fade into the screams of the crowd and then let go of the ley line power. As she let the pick drop from her fingers, her last ounce of strength dropped with it and she let herself go. The leyline, surging back to its original path, swept through her. Invisible hands picked her up, body and soul, and like they wore winged sandals, swept her away.

Luke silently thanks whoever healed @Cassiopeia when he couldn't. Being a nearly sole survivor, no sole escapee, from his home world had been quite lonely up until @Antipas had introduced him to Cass. No way on this planet or in any galaxy, known or unknown, was he going to lose her.

She was really something else when she got determined and he admired her focus and drive. When she noticed him staring, he gave a wry smile, winked, and went back to solving the problem at hand. Fiesty female fidgeting for fun or not he had work to get done.

When Luke turns back to the diagrams and readouts from the CS equipment, Xander gives him a click click, his way of teasing Luke about his fascination and attention to and for Cass.

"Xander, we are seeing how many ley lines converging here?"

"Three we have confirmed."

"Any identifiable anchors?"

"For being dead twice over, those Murder Wraiths seem to each be attached to one of the ley lines. More likely that they are the focal points for each ley line."

"They do look like death warmed over."

Quickly computing the new data, Luke considers the adjustments to his current energy conversion field. If it mean rerouting the energy, they won't likely need the energy safety net in place.

Luke and Xander set to work. Heading outside the dome, they grab both of the Murder Wraiths staked near the outer wall. Placing them ten or so feet apart in a clearing free of trees. Angling the wraiths out and away from each other. Luke and Xander set the wraiths' feet into a ring. Having left the coiling on the wraiths, they attached the coiling to the ring.

"Time is running short."

"Mercer has attempted another solution."

"Prepare the firing sequences. 20 seconds apart. We don't want the wraiths being ripped apart by the explosions."

As the Skelbots begin coming in Joe gets distracted from the lovely friend. "Now that's just rude. Those guys are beginning to become a real nuisance." Then as he sword flares he smiles. "But if there is one thing Big Joe never backs down from, it is rude people."

Big Joe was only distracted for a moment when he realized that the beautiful woman he had saved earlier was still in danger. Leaping in front of her he used his own body to provide cover for her as she moved to safety. Taking advantage of the distraction Antipas was causing to allow himself a moment to recover.

Auto Wounds from saving CS woman (Can we name her?) 1d4: [2] = 2

Soak Roll with bonus benny from GM post 1d10!! or Wild 1d6!! with -1 from fatigue: [2]+[3] = 5

Trigger Daily Bio-Regeneration 1d10!! or 1d6!! penalty -2 wounds, -1 Fatigue: [4]+[1] = 5

The speed and power already running through him was only slightly tempered by the fatigue he was experiencing from earlier. The burst of action from Joe as he moved, at times even enduring the wounds inflicted by the Skelebots so he could close in and slice a few of them in half was impressive. The guys fighting skill did not match his words, but his resilience and ability to just keep fighting even when outmatched was like no other.

Psionics 1d10!! or Wild 1d6!! Scene penalty -2: [6]+[3] = 9

As the smoke clears and the team begins taking an assessment it seems Joe's skills did not pay off as he is wavering on his feet. Battered and bruised his every step seems like one step from collapse. Looking at his new friend he smiles, only a few teeth missing, "Looks like we made it out of that volley alive?" The words finishing only moments before his eyes rolled back and he stumbled over requiring the CS soldier to catch him.

Total: Currently 2 Fatigue and 2 Wounds.

He spots Ophelia and runs over to her, touching his hand to her shoulder. Ophelia feels a warm glow ripple through her body, touching the wounds, healing the majority of them.
She smiles wanly at Clark as her injuries heal. "Thank you. This will be sufficient for me; please, help the--" Her head suddenly whips around, as she catches Mercer's thoughts through the mindlink. "NO!" If she'd not been so distracted by her injuries a moment ago, she would have made him stop; as it is, all she can do once he starts is remain as a fortifying presence in his mind, supporting him, encouraging him to hold on even as he pumps his own life-force into the Rift.

As he manages, somehow, to survive the experience, she turns to Clark, preparing to direct him to go aid the now-white-haired man, when Big Joe also goes down under a hail of Skelebot fire. Triage....

"Clark, if you would be so kind to assist Big Joe there with the same sort of attention you did myself, I would appreciate it."

She then looks over to Mercer, again. So many years lost... In many ways, my reflection--I skipped the years, he has been enveloped by them. Well, nothing for it, now. We can look into the possibility of a treatment later, perhaps, if we all survive. Though at least he wears it well. Probably best not to bring that up just now, though.

Standing, she glances around, trying to assess the situation.

Unseen far above, Nemisis and Architect
In the heavens watching the battle below, shrouded from sight inside a dark swirling vortex the goddess Nemis scowled at the image she was watching in the dark. It was not necessarily of the pitched battle in which the skelebots found themeslves hoplessly out matched yet too numerous for the heroes to count. It was of a great sky ship, the Morose flying away from the battle. She was watching the bridge of the sky ship. It’s captain was yelling at a dark foreboding woman shrouded in black with a long cloak and hood drawn around obscuring any features.

The goddess apoke to the swirling darkness arround her, “Architect, did you divert the bomber?”

A voice responded after a brief pause, “Yes, for a moment…. Do you have answer as to why we are here?”

Nemisis nodded slowly and she pointed to the image of Dokrathra on the bridge of the skyship fleeing the leyline. “Do you know her Architect?”

“No…”

Nemisis raised her hand her fingers swirling the darkness, the image of Dokrathra swirled and zoomed in on her. The face was still obscured by a long cloak. “I believe we have found the one Ndreare has been looking for.” Nemisis’s eyes furrowed and her lips curled, “Your question may have been existential, but the answer is less so. We are here for my sister, Spite.”

The darkness electrified crackling with blue energy.

Suddenly a crooked and spindly aged woman appeared before Nemisis. She had the air of a witch about her, with a bent nose, ugly scars along her face. This old witch was shackled and laid low on the etherial floor. Nemisis stepped forward drawing a blade from her side, she pointed it at the captured witch and commanded, “Come Dokratha, or should I say…. My Sister Sprite. We have come to either kill you or take you back home.” Nemisis spun the blade on her palm letting it rest near the witch’s throat, “The choice is yours.”
Jenny Jergin dropped from the laser blasted tree to the ground near Antipas. The tree like many others in the vacinitiy had a multitude of laser holes and scorches marring it’s once gnarled yet beautiful bark. The tree fell with a brittle thud after she dismounted it. She kicked the remains of a skelebot’s sliced head a few meters in disgust. She grinned at Antipas pointing to the skelebots retreating to the edge of Luke’s electric field. “We will rock you! Frak yeah! Look at those Skelebots all sliced and diced. The rest are moving to just beyond that electric field your pal set up.” She looked at the once prestige forest and shook her head, “We are out of any good cover…. A shame. What do you suppose is going on with the line?”. Sure enough the remaining skelebots stumbled back away from the domes to just outside Luke’s field. All too soon the rest of the skelebots forces joined them forming an errie Chrome ring that just stood silent waiting for something to happen.

Agnus placed a hand on Ophelia’s shoulder, once again she got a wave of familiarity coming off the CS soldier. Agnus seemed concerned at looked at both Ophelia and Clark. The soldier grunted hefting one of the dystroyed skelebots laser rifles, “Not good…. Those Skelebots are aiming to not let us leave. I think we need to-” He was cut off by a loud beep beep coming from a skelebot’s discarded grenade launcher. He yelled as he pulled Ophelia to his side, “Grenade!” Clark would have been caught by the blast but Lois came roaring through the forest floor intercepting the deadly explosion catching the blast against her armored scales(2 wounds, feel free to soak for her).

The grenade’s explosion was defended by a loud whoosh of something above.
See or detect Arcane
Anyone who could see into the arcane caught side of a shimmering image: a sky ship resplendent with three main sails and a sweeping hull as if meant to catch the very sun itself. It would seem some kind of invisible airship had parked itself about 30ft from the ground.
The tension inside the dome was thick. The CS scientists all had collectively held their breath. The leyline had gone from blue, to a sickly orange and they knew that was bad. After a few moments the CS scientists all let out the breath they had been holding. Calvin pushed his glasses up his sweaty nose and grinned straightening his cs uniform, “That was impossible…. That was amazing.”

The Leyline went back to blue. The danger it posed had been thwarted.

Standing at the observation window in the dome the CS LT Kassandra Maverick wiped her eyes and whispered with heart ache as she ran to her Uncle, “Frak, Jess what did you do?” She wrapped her hand through his steadying him and looked at his aged face, “Jess…. Damn Jess…” She took in Cass and Luke and coughed trying push back her emotions, “What did you all do?”

Breaking the tender embrace Xander pipped up over everyone’s radio, ”I have discovered why the Skelebots have pulled back to the edge of the electrified field…. They have four bombers in bound.”

The breathtaking CS beauty on Big Joes arms frowned at the thought of something else trying to kill them. She swore, “Tarin’s T! Just like Kassandra, I mean the Lt.’s Dad to order a strike with his final breath. Oh Joe…” She leaned into him, letting the fatigued hero take her weight. She caressed his armor, “How are you going to get me, little Lucy Llyboc home big hero?”

As if on que, Jenny Jergin’s radio went hot with Captain Gaiter’s frantic voice, ”Jenny? Prosek’s B! Dockrathra just up and vanished, I am over head. Scope is reading some CS fast movers starting their run on your position, what is the play? I can’t stay here for much longer!”

As those in the Domes joined the team in the laser blackened forest Jenny Jergins, her remaining juicers, and the CS team looked at the heroes with wonder and awe. Jenny pointed above as The air shimmered and a large sleek air ship revealed itself about 30 feet above. It looked like the crew was lowering ropes to reach the ground. At the edge of Luke’s extended elecrified field huge explostions erupted dystroying more and more of the forest and skelebots. The explosions were coming closer and closer as the jets above started their bombing run. A faint roar far above followed the cacophony. Jenny caught herself as the earth shook. She grinned loving how immanent death was. “What’s next heroes?”

Indeed how will the heroes and their companions out run bombs being dropped upon them? Now is the time to choose your path! Will you try to out run it on foot, perhaps take the leyline if you have means, or maybe try to board the airship? Just some thoughts….

Please respond and come up with a plan in character on how to escape the bombs being dropped on you from jets. I am looking for the direction your character and or group plans on taking to get out of this jam. Also due to the ground rumbling please make an agility roll. Fail 1 lvl of fatigue. Actions are not allowed right now. Once I got an idea how your character and group plans to get out of this mess I’ll put together the next post snd we will roll and narate how successful you are.
Mercer changed
Visibly you appear a good 15-25 years older. But the worst thing is you see some strange and terrifying things on all your companions. Tendrils, or small grotesque creatures have seemed to attach themselves to your companions giving them not only an unsightly look, but one given your CS background that you can no longer completely trust. You gain the Suspicious Minor and Elderly Major.
Your character is suspicious of everyone. As a Minor Hindrance, his paranoia causes frequent trust issues. He might demand full payment before doing a task, want every agreement in writing, or believe even his friends are out to get him. As a Major Hindrance, Support rolls to aid the distrustful individual are made at −2.

When the invisible Airship, the Morose, descends Jesse Mercer noticed it immediately. He’d been a RCSG scientist and killer long enough that the ship didn’t hide from his ever watchful eyes. In part it was stepping back from Kassandra Maverick and taking a wide combat stance upon seeing the invisible ship that helped him maintain his balance when the ground shook.

“Kass incoming ship.”

Telekineticly Mercer lifted one of the destroyed Skelebot energy rifles up over his head and pointed it at the ship. His own hands drawing his Dragonfire Rifle and aiming it at the airship.

He turned his white bearded and aged face to look for his new boss.

“Ophelia! Hey. Incoming invisible ship. You okay over there?”

Inwardly Mercer balks. Da’fak! They all have worms. Gods. Gods. They’re all possessed. Something is wrong.

For his part Mercer breaths heavily and listens to the conversations.

Feeling like there is no good answer he grumbles some perverse statement of disgust then clears his throat.

“We are not going to out run these bombs. Trust me. I hate to say it. But this crazy loon and his ship are our best way to escape in my opinion. Ophelia I suggest we board her and fly out of here.”

"I remember seeing observation platforms on the domes."

"If we can't find a way up then we will just have to make a way up."

Remembering the question about the Ley Lines, Luke quickly explains.

"Converging ley lines happen naturally, that is how we get nexii. These particular lines had been used in the creation of the Murder Wraiths. The Murder Wraiths then became Ley Line anchors. With both Wraiths here those lines were being manipulated to our demise."

"Let's use Dome Two as it is still mostly intact."

Luke heads to Dome One and rips off a 10 foot section of functional ladder. "We can use this to walk from the platform to the sky ship."

With that, Xander's eight legs suddenly extend and Luke scurries up the side of Dome Two, checking the ladder network up the side to the observation platform.

Ophelia calls out to Mercer in response. "We're okay for now, yes. And I agree that the skyship is our best bet. Okay, everyone, up the ropes."

As she speaks, she goes over to one of the dropped lines and starts wrapping it around her torso. "Dignity be damned. I'm an old woman, and climbing even a ladder after all of this is likely to be beyond me. Please, help me get this secured, and then, once everyone else is up, have them haul me up as we start to take off." She holds up a hand. "No arguments, please, this is the best way to get me onboard, trust me. If some of you feel you could carry me, then grab one of the wounded, instead." Her expression is a bit rueful, but mixed with that odd serenity she always seems to carry with her.

"Move it, people! I don't know who owns this thing, but Mr. Mercer seems to think them trustworthy enough, so let us get out of here. Technicians first, then warriors, please--the Skelebots may get orders to try to rush us before we get clear, so we'll need to lay down some heavy fire to fend them off. Grenades, if you've got them!"

Joe smiles confidently at the flirtations from the Little Lucy Lybock. "Sure thing, you just stay close to Joe until we are on board and you will be safe as can be. I will get you home, and no telling how much fun we can have on the way."

As everyone starts boarding the ship Joe gets Lucy aboard first then begins helping the injured and wounded. However it soon becomes obvious to any older or more mature members of the party he is distracted. Joe seems to always be looking at the lady, or seems to always have a good reason to drop someone off where she is at.

As the ground rumbles Joe looks around seeing many of the rescued people stumbling even falling to the ground. Luckily the other heroes with him, and Antipas, seemed to adapt to it. But this definitely means the people will need some more help.

While considering how best to load the injured Antipas overhears the vamp who has attached herself to Joe give her name. His grip tightens on the appropriated vibro sword as he considers options. It would be premature to just kill her or leave her here, there was a chance she wasn't from that family. And even if she was the slayer doubted his compatriots would accept dealing karmic retribution to Terrance through his family. So ihe accepted the fact that he would have to wait and see if she were of his brood and mindset.

Seeing the druidic fellow looking back and forth between his dino and the sky ship, he comes up with an idea to maybe help. Over the team radio he calls out to @Cassiopeia. "Cass, you ever teleport a small dino... Want to? Druid boy could use a hand. I'm going to pop my wings and get the most wounded up. Big Slow, get your shit together and focus, you can ogle her heaving assets once we're in flight." He throws in a chiding remark to @Big Joe on seeing him "rescue" the Lyboc girl first over all the wounded.

Still reeling from the near miss of the grenade, Clark missteps and twists his ankle, causiung him to stumble to the ground momentarily. He gets up and much to his shock sees the ghostly apparition that the group appears to be heading in the direction of. He limps that way, using Lois for support, ever watchful of the bag with the sapling in it. He looks at the ropes, then back at Lois. "Ms. @Cassiopeia if you can't lift Lois, it's not a big deal, just let me know so I can send her off out of harms way."

Before Antipas has finished his communiqué, Cass is already running across the rubble-strewn field to his position. She activates her own radio and replies while jumping over obstacles and around craters with Atlantean grace.

”I have actually teleported a small dino before. Remember that snot-nosed, drákon brat, Mirik? I pulled him out of the Bumpy Cave Pub while he was drunk, bespelled and actively fighting in a bar brawl. He may have looked like a lanky teenager, but he was one big, ugly lizard. Lois will be a piece of cake.“

Cass slides to a stop beside the beast and slips an arm under Clark's shoulder to help him walk. "It's no trouble. Can you tell her to stay calm, that we're going up into the clouds but not to be afraid?" She starts to pull energy from the newly cleaned leyline with her off hand as she reassures the druid.

She keeps up a little patter of inane conversation as she works the ley line. The travel can be unnerving for some folks..and beasts. "Lois, did you know there used to be a networking society called the Lois Club. It was only open to people who's names were Lois. It's true! I read about it in a book."

Spoon Fed Edition
The sky ship Morose was made mostly of darkened wood it hovered a good 30 feet above the heroes heads. Ropes hung off it’s side limp and barely reaching the ground. It’s pale white sails rippled as the Coalition bombing run grew destructively close. Droves of skelebots were destroyed as the bombs destructive force tore them apart. The rest closed in on the heroes and allies. The deafening noise of the explosions stopped for a horrible moment. Almost as they were in the calm before a storm. The surging surviving skelebots undeterred by their own death raised their laser rifles and fired trying to keep any and all from escaping. At this point their was no safe haven, it was the sky ship or bust.

The roar of the sky ship Captain’s voice cut through the deafening silience, “Hang tight everyone, grab hold of the ropes!” Suddenly the skyship began to lift away. It was a mad scramble to grab the ropes. Aided by big Joe, Lucy and several other CS scientists were easily able to grab hold. Lucy kissed Joe on the cheek appreciating the heroe’s dedication to making sure they were secured while risking his own safety. ”Thank you hero.” Only two CS did not make it and while the rest of the scientists and a juicer followed Luke up dome two.

Angus smiled at Ophelia scrambling to secure her first, ”Common Ophelia, here put your arm right here. You remind-.“ His words were cut short by a skelebot’s laser blast striking him in the chest knocking him to the ground. There was no way Angus could get back to the rope before it was out of reach!

Kassandra Maverick, the lead CS scientist found herself falling back to the ground after her rope was hit by a laser blast. She hit the ground looking at her Uncle and the ship lifting off. “Jess!!”

The juicers it seemed(3 of them) were all able to use their lighting reflexes to grab hold of the ropes, with one hand steady on the ropes they weilded their rifles in the other returning fire. Jenny Jergins was closest to Antipas. She hurriedly pointed at the rock outcropping where the CS helo had crashed. It seemed even though the destructive rage of explosions lay between the team and it, perhaps this outcropping might be outside the bombers target range. Words said to the Undead Slayer she hefted a large backpack and ran with towards the rocky outcropping disappearing in flame and fire as more bombs dropped.

More sekelebots were vaporized as the bombs quickly approached the departing sky ship. Yet still more metal robots closed in on the heroes continuing to fire until the last one was destroyed. Lois roared angling her body to take any blasts meant for Cassiopeia or Clark. Bam! Bam! The left side of the dino was burned badly by blast after blast, but still Lois stayed standing ever protecting her best friend and new ally. Something truely heroic would need to be done to get the dino on board.

The forest area erupted in green flame and fire as the bombs exploded all around. The night sky grew even darker as clouds rolled in faster than they had any right too. The orange explosions reflected off these clouds in a dancing fire light beauty. Lighting flashed between the cloud banks. Captain Gaiter yelled, “Get us out of here Quip!” The ropes dangling quickly receded. Some fates were secured, others hung in the balance. It was now or never to get aboard.
Legions radio
The crackling of the legionnaire radios come aliave with a swauve yet worried voice. It was full of
static and barely discernible. Ophelia recognized the voice as Anatole a fellow Legionaire and psi ghost. ”Any legion… Out there…. In…. King… Prision…Assistance…
Jenny Jergins to Antipas
Her voice was low and determined. Yet peppered with the finality of regret, “Antipas, make sure everyone gets out of here. My team saw some heavy artillery on our way in. I would think that rock outcropping would be a likely spot for it to be moved into Position.” She laughed. Her eyes were burning bright red. She hefted a large backpack “HAh! I’ll take it out. Take care of them Antipas!”
The ballad of Dome two (Luke)
The dome made for an easy climb. Luke was followed by two CS scientists and a Juicer. Once at the top of the dome Zander pipped up informing them of a small rift no larger than two foot by two foot. Through it Luke could see a large eye tentacled monster watching them and perhaps the events below unfold. “Luke I am detecting a large surge of energy six feet from our position. Processing. There is a rift. I am detecting some kind of entity on the other side. Warning!” Too late.

Tenticals reached out through the rift pulling the Juicer through. Escaping the searching tentacles the two CS scientists lost their grip on the dome and slid back down a good ten feet. They caught themselves on a ledge of the dome. The ship had already started to take off and now there was no way the two CS scientists could get aboard without assistance. More tentacles swarmed out of the rift trying to wrap up Luke! Zander cried out, ”I calculate we have five seconds to reach the ship before we are stranded!”
Something Strange about those bombs
Notice
This close, you can see the explosions were not your exactly normal affair. The flame and fire had a very very slight green tint and it rolled across the forest floor almost like water.
Detect arcana, for those that can detect arcana with a notice
Despite the CS’s anti magic stance the fire and explosions have a high lvl of magic almost like a greater dispel is carried with the destructive force.
Antipas Alone
Not to pile on, but your tattoo no longer works. You feel your connection to Nemisis go dead.
Clark in the clouds
Even without glancing up at the Clouds, you can tell their unexpected formation is not natural.

GM directions (any magic/psionic spells or powers etc at this point are gone)(feel free to cast other powers or recast if you want at MAP)
[*]Step 1: Make an athletics roll at the appropriate modifier. If you have other modes of flight or teleport use the appropriate skill in place. Saving an NPC or another character gives you a -2 to your roll in addition to the below modifiers(Doing so also gets you a benny!)!
[*]Modifiers
  • Antipas (-2 from laser fire)
  • Ophelia, No roll needed unless you want to save an NPC. Angus sacrificed his roll for your saftey!
  • Cass, no modifier unless using atheltics and climbing the rope as Lois is taking laser fire. If you want to teleport lois it will be a -2 to your casting roll, teleport clark you are looking at a -4. If you use athletics your roll is at a -2 as skelebots will try to fire on you.
  • Mercer, your athletics roll is at -2. Saving Kassandra Maverick will give you an additional -2.
  • Luke, no roll is needed unless you want to save the two CS scientists. You will need to make an Athletics roll at -2 per scientist if you want to save them.
  • Big Joe atheltics roll is at a -2 from laser fire. You also get a benny!
  • Clark, your athletics roll is at a -2 from laser fire assuming you climb the ropes, but depending on Cassandra you might want to simply support her spell casting roll (no modifier) instead and get your self teleported.I would recommend working it out with her in group chat.
[*]Step 2 The result:
  • Success: you make it aboard.
  • Raise: success plus a +2 on any persuasion or intimidation rolls with Captain Gaiter and the crew of the Morose.
  • Fail: take a level of fatigue and a wound (soakable) but still make it aboard but you twist ankle and get hit by skelebot laser fire or some such.
  • Crit fail, make it aboard barely but you are severely burned 1d4 (min2, soakable) wounds that cannot be healed by magical means.
Step 3: Narrate it all! Show us what your character does, says, thinks, to finally get aboard the Morose and hopefully out of this valley of death![/list]

Lifting the Ostraosaur into the ship.

The forest erupted in green flame and fire as the bombs exploded all around. Mercer saw the rope Kassandra was climbing sear in half from laser fire. He flinched as she fell back to the ground. As the ship raised higher into the sky he could just make out her cry of ”Jess!”

Jesse James Mercer, exiled Coalition RCSG scientist and now outlaw, still hurt from the sacrifice he’d made to slow the line from erupting. His eyes burned and he felt tired.

Standing on the deck of the airship looking down at his niece he tried to not see all the writhing worms swarming across the ground towards her. She’d be infected like everyone else if he didn’t get her aboard ASAP.

Stepping off the edge of the raising airship he fell.

Activating his jet pack at the last moment he landed hard. Rolled and grabbed onto Kassandra.

Pulling her upright he unslung the pack helped her into it and said: ”You fly us up! I have to concentrate! Go!”

Kassandra, bewildered but following orders, punched it. Holding onto Mercer she flew them back up to the airship deck.

As they raced upwards Mercer mentally reached out and grabbed Lois. The Ostraosaur was telekineticly lifted up off the ground and towards the deck.

Blood pouring from his nose and eyes bulging from concentration the psychic ex-soldier dropped to his knees when Kassandra set him onto the deck.

Still lifting the Ostraosaur up it halted and shook, blood dripped into Mercer’s eyes blinding him. He then lifted faster as Mercer finished moving the beast to the airship deck.

Letting go of the beast it stood shakily on the ship.

He didn’t see the beast but heard it so knew he had done it.

Mercer moved to stand then fell onto his back, dripping sweet and bleeding from his nose, breathing heavily.

Activating his jet pack at the last moment he landed hard. Rolled and grabbed onto Kassandra.

Mercer started to lift Kassandra up and passed out. The drop and landing taking its toll on his recently aged body.

Kassandra puts the jet pack on and takes Mercer to the airship.

He awakens there looking at Lois and Kassandra and grins.

Ophelia shouts in alarm as the laser fire burns Angus' chest, and she is hoisted away from him. For a moment, she considers any number of insane, likely suicidal courses of action, when all of a sudden she sees Antipas come in and rescue the CS Sergeant. She takes a deep, ragged breath, and closes her eyes for a moment to center herself--just in time to hear the voice on the radio.

"Anatole! This is Ophelia. If you can hear me, we are on our way to Kingsdale." Another possible distraction, but if we have the opportunity to get another Legionnaire... he might know more about what happened.

Grateful for his sharp eye, Cassiopeia concentrates on the open space aboard the airship that is wide enough for the three of them. She locks the image in her mind, swings her left arm in a wide arc, focusing the power around the man and his dino and then snaps the fingers of her gloved right hand. Instantly the three of them disappear in a giant bolt of lightning that looks like Zeus himself planted his masterbolt into the ground where they all stood. The Skelebot's shot whiz right through it instead of into the bleeding side of the giant lizard.

In the same instant, another bolt of lightning appears to strike out of clear blue sky onto the deck of the Morose. Instead of electricity sparkling through the ship, the deck dips a little under the sudden weight of the dinosaur. As soon as Clark and Cass have secured their footing, Lois loses hers and slips to her belly, rolling slightly toward them. The side on the far side of where her friends stood is riddled with shots. Cass scrambles over her back, trying to asses the damage and stop what bleeding she can. "MEDIC!" she screams over her shoulder to the ship's crew behind them.

Getting on a skiff like this is easy as can be for someone like Joe. Well, maybe it should have been if he was not so distracted with the amazingly attractive officer. The blast that took out the first rope he was crawling was enough he almost twisted his ankle landing. Somehow he managed to luck out, and catch himself on the rope next to his own. Climbing up he makes it to the top breathing little. "Wow, that was a tight spot. So, anyone else ready to get out of here before any of these fine people we saved get hurt?"

On hearing the young woman is a Lyboc Antipas' grip on his sword tightens a bit and he considers leaving her here for a second. While it would be poetic justice for her to die to Coalition bombs given her presumptive kin that's all it was, a presumption. And even if she was, the chosen of Nemesis doubted the earthers shared his sense of karmic justice. "A Maveric AND a Lyboc? Well this is definitely gonna end with someone getting fucked."

Deciding to save his scant remains of power, Antipas elects to use himself as cover for the fleeing scientists and juicers, less so the latter as their own speed and reflexes serve them perfectly well. Most of the skelebot weaponry just strikes him and dissipates, his tattoo enhanced flesh more than the weapons can overcome. But as Cass teleports and Joe gets started up with the last of the wounded a much more "heavy" blast of energy strike him dead between the shoulder blades, knocking him to one knee but otherwise not quite harming him.

Shaking off the attack he looks back over his shoulder to see that a couple of 'bots have set up a heavy anti-vehicle laser. One of his hands strays to his gear harness but comes up empty, Fuck, sure would be nice if I had some grenades right now. Instead he begins sprinting for one of the last ropes but before he can reach it Angus falls ensuring Ophelia's safety. With only a mild sigh he changes directions and gets between the kid and a coup degras shot. "This is no time for a nap kid, let's get out of here." He then curses as Jergins makes her departure. "Gods damn it, you still owe me answers!"

Scooping an around Angus' shoulders he lifts him back to his feet and more than half carries him to a rope. Which he mistimes the skyships movement leaving it just out of his grasp. Pulling Angus along in pursuit, dodging or face tanking lasers as he goes Pas just can't get ahold of the errant rope. Every time he gets close he slips a little, or a laser shot puts him off stride. luck, or fate, just isn't going his way.

Then he notices something. Or more correctly the lack of something. His whole life it seemed he had "heard" in his head the presence of Nemesis. A sweet, but bitter song of righteous wrath and sowing of the seeds of consequence. Now silent. And gone with it were her blessings, the fates no longer bent the rules to favor him. He would have to get out of this on his own.

Pulling the grapple gun he'd taken from Jenny out he notes it has one grapple left. Lining up the shot he fires at the railing and it goes high. But it connects in the ships rigging, the sudden pull from both the grapple itself and the moving target nearly rips the gun from the undead slayers hand but he keeps his grip on both it and his passenger. They hit the side of the ship running, the line being anchored up in the rigging actually allowing them to reach the deck with a graceful swing out and over the rail.

He deposits Angus near Ophelia and looks over at Clark, "I fucking hate Tuesday. How's Treebert?"

The sky ship Morose heaved to gaining altitude quickly as the bombs exploded all around where the heroes once were. Now far below, a consuming fire roared through the forest. Nothing was left of the domes, and for the moment, a terrifying moment, the leyline faded from existence. Only the rocky outcropping where the downed CS helicopter seemed untouched by the coalition bombs.

The steely eyed captian of the Morose, Gaiter held a hand out helping those who needed help to gain footing on the deck when the ship lurched loosing altitude, “Prosek’s balls! Those bombs wiped out the leyline. We are loosing power!” He pointed to the near steering wheel column, “Everyone! Get to the wheel and if you have the potential open your selves to the ship!” The deck twisted and Captain Gaiter tumbled into the main sail. Blood oozed from his temple as he slid to and fro on the deck.

His first mate hung onto the wheel as the ship became dead weight! The large quick flex yelled, “Captain, we’re going down!” One of the crew slid across the deck flailing arround knocking the quick flex pilot to the wooden floor. In fact most of the crew was in the same boat being tossed like rag dolls as the ships steering went to complete shit and the ship began to loose altitude.

The CS soldiers and scientists hung onto the ship’s rigging best they could but Angus lost his grip and rolled dangerously to the edge of the ships railimg. He cried out trying unsuccessfully to grab hold of anything, “Not again!” The same might have happened to Lucy Llyboc but she thrust herself against Joe, her heaving bosom and sultry breath proving to be all the distraction Joe could handel. Her limpid pools of blue eyes glanced at Antipas for a moment. She whispered a sweet nothing into Big Joe’s ear, “I don’t think that one likes me.” Her hand gently caressed Big Joe’s lips and she pouted her big ruby lips, “But you like me just fine don’t you?” Not wanting to interfere with the two love birds Lois chomped down into the mast hanging on best she could to keep from sliding into them. The big dino’s tail tried to curl best it could around Clark and Cassiopeia.

The remain juicers, cartwheeled along the deck tying to save as much of the crew as the four of them could. One of them, a blue haired dark skinned juicer yelled, “This one is already dead, skin’s been melted!” Slightly chuckling like he made the worst joke at the worst time he dropped the crew mate over board and reached out for another flung body keen on checking if this one was melted too. He gave a thumbs up indicating he had a live one this time. The juicer’s seemed to be enjoying themselves vocalizing Kole’s last known song Come on, baby, light my fire Try to set the night on fire.

Hanging onto the rigging Lt. Kassandra’s knuckles went white. She swore at the ruthlessness of the CS, “Damn, those bombs must be the experimental ones. Made from a radioactive material called ghost rock.” She slammed into the railing as the ship lurched downward, “Ugghh…. The General, my father, and Llyboc found it some place off planet. Ughhh…. Wipes out magic! Project Pinnacle.” She opened her mouth to say more but the clouds above in the night sky rumbled with thunder and flashed with lightning! The ship without power was going down back into the flames below but perhaps just perhaps the heroes could change their fortunes and finally get out of this mess.
Notice sight
Climbing atop the outcropping out of the wash of fire was a gleaming eight legged machine of death: A spider skull walker. It’s laser cannons were aimed right at the fleeing sky ship! A lone figure was also climbing the outcropping heading right to it.
Antipas
A faint voice in your mind as your tatoo starts to bleed ink, She is coming Antipas. Dakrothra-Spite…. My sister…. She is coming for Aggelos. I am sorry.
Treeburt
The small sapling shivers in its pot. One of it’s leaves falls. Clark can tell it is reacting poorly to these bombs.
Legion’s radio
Ophelia’s reply from the Legionair Anatole was full of static long pauses, and ended abruptly. ”Ophelia…. Is…. You………. Trap…. Mercy…. Who is…. There?” The radio cut off. A menacing voice full of controlled rage came on replacing Anatole’s “This is Parson’s, I have the kid, the child, a glitter boy pilot and her rig, plus now I have your psi-ghost. Legion bring me the body of Lady Glittersparkles to Merctown. The back of the golden apple in seven days. I have a particular set of skills and will send your friends to you in pieces on the 8th.” Somehow this Parson’s must have cut through the interference Anatole had been experiencing. The radio cut out.
Notice-2 hearing
Multiple sounds of large truck like engines starting came at the tail end of Parson’s soliloquy.
Big Joe
Please roll spirit. Let me know when you are satisfied with your result.

Ok lots to unpack.

Step 1) two above notice rolls.
Step 2)Choose your dramatic task:
  • Task 1: Power the sky ship. As long as you can operate TW devices, Make an arcane skill(PPE or ISP based) roll at -2, every success and raise lets you put in PPE or ISP of +1d6. Target PPE amount is 35. Fail, 1 lvl of fatigue.
  • Task 2: Save the crew, and Angus! Make an Athletic’s check (I could be talked into other skills like pilot, of Telekinesis powers, or even entangle) at -2. Each such save a crew member and Angus. Total amount of successes will dictate how much crew lives. Fail, 1 lvl of fatigue.
Step 3: based on the narration, and rolls above narrate it all for us!

That sucks. Oh well. Tried. Narrate WIP

See Nothing. Heard Nothing. Task 1 = 4 PP to ship.
It was the sudden lurching drop that brought Jesse Mercer back to clarity. Where he had been crouched down looking at the sailors with suspicion he now felt his stomach disappearing above him as the unnatural ship suddenly turned off no longer powered by the Ley Line.

The RCSG scientist knew instantly what had happened. The line had somehow disappeared. He could not feel it anymore. The ship, an archaic magic powered hunk of wood was now going to drop back down to earth and everyone would be consumed by flames, napalm and death.

Mercer grinned under his shaggy white beard.

That might not be a bad thing.

It was only Kassandra the CS officer that Jesse finally moved for. Well. If he was being honest, for Ophelia too. Still unsure what those feelings were about he shook his head. Striding through screams and chaos he simply walked to the flight wheel and gripped the wood of the ship and unleashed his own personal power into the ship.

It was less than he had hoped for. The magic needed not fully functional with the mental power he was pumping into the airship.

”Some help! Fuel the ship with your own power!”

He wasn’t sure exactly who he was yelling at. He surmised he was just yelling and no one would help. That would figure.

I suppose death has waited for me long enough…

Ophelia is so focused on the radio demand that she fails utterly to notice the impending doom posed by the Skull Walker.

"I'm hoping one of you knows who 'Glittersparkles' is, since I never heard of them. In any case, we need to get this ship moving."

She attempts to help in this latter capacity, but sadly, her own tanks are so heavily drained that she ends up only adding a small trickle of power to the ship's stores. Feeble old woman... she chides herself, with some bitterness.

Luke focused for a moment on the rift and the one eyed tentacle being. It bore some resemblance to the Purrgil. But Luke was certain that the eye had a partner. And Purrgil had no tentacles. This creature was also less than benign. "Screw It." "We ain't tangling with that cosmic shitpile."
"Luke, the scientists."

Backing away from the rift, Luke/Xander scitter backwards down towards the scientists. Grabbing the Scientists would be the challenging part. Getting to the airships was easy enough.

Even with his multiple legs, extra arms, and prehensile tail, getting the scientists is going to be more challenging than outrunning the pair of Sploogie Slave Barges that chased Luke/Xander down when they first made Earthfall.

The training module Luke inserted into the back of his head, was a bit archaic, with lots of slow rolls and leaps, kind of like a Zalphun ballet. Zalphun ballet performed by a mutant with all left feet and no grace. Some days it would be better just to die.

It was a horrific slide down to the first of the two CS Scientists and Luke/Xander nearly sent the poor guy flying off the dome. Multiple arms and legs managed to keep the gruesome duo on the dome while the prehensile tail flashed out around the scientist's torso and brought him back in close to Luke/Xander.

The scientist was visibly shaken and obviously had very little experience being in a circus. Come to think of it, Luke/Xander had never been in an official circus either.

With seconds to spare, Luke spoke to the scientist, first looking at the name plate plastered on his uniform. "Look, um Katapodis. Really, your name is Katapodis? Nevermind. Relax so we can go get the other one."

Stashing Katapodis under the lower left arm, Luke/Xander scurry around the dome scaffolding to the second scientist.

The female scientist was standing on the framing and leaning against the dome. She looked up at the airship, over to the rift, and then finally glanced back at the arriving trio. The look on her face made it clear that she was surprised that her fellow scientist had not been eaten or torn in half.

Again, being respectful, Luke looks at the lady's nametag, "Tsaoussis? By the Three Galaxies, who named these earthlings?"

"Nevermind. Be still. Relax. And we will get out of here swiftly."

Luke/Xander tucked the lady scientist under another arm.

"Luke, we don't have the means to scale the dome again."

"Then we use your built in "wings" or pseudo jetpack"

Silence from Xander. As one of the newest features to Xander, the onboard flight capabilities had not been fully tested.

"It's GOD DAMN Greek Tragedy."

"I'm sure @Cassiopeia and @Antipas would appreciate it then."

The flight system engaged without a sound but it was obvious that it was labored and needed work. Luke/Xander and scientists were seen scaling the dome once more with flight system providing stability and some momentum.

As they neared the rift, the tentacles flew out once more trying to grab them all. With a bit of a burst the group hopped above the tentacles and then landed on each of the tentacles with a seperate spider leg. In an uncharacteristic gesture, the blinking eye in the rift got a solid punch from a Xander right hook and then the group was leaping from the dome and "flying" towards the nearest airship.

Following the radio message, Luke heard a noticeable stop. "Thanks for copying that transmission, Xander."

"We will need to see if we can triangulate where Parsons transmitted from."

Instict told Luke that there was likely more danger than just the airship heading down, the leyline disrupted, and The Damn Parsons interfering. Looking up from the deck of the Morose, Luke/Xander began surveying their surroundings. Any details. Anything at all.

Luke/Xander turns towards Kassandra as she was sliding towards them. While his other arms held the mast, his prehensile tail flashed out and under the Lieutenat as she was about to pass.

"Captain Gaiter, why exactly are we nose diving? I thought the weight on these magic ships was mostly in the rear where the engines were."

Unfortunately sometimes all it takes for people to die is for a beautiful woman to distract a great man. As Joe rushed for the people he spent a moment to long watching as two of the passengers slide off the listing skiff. Looking over the side he shrugs. "Dang it, I thought I could save them."

Looking around and seeing everyone else wasting their efforts to keep the skiff in the air he realizes he may have wrongly prioritized saving a couple lives instead of the ship as a whole...

Cass is patting Lois’s protectively curling tail when she feels the ship lose power and start to lurch to a downward angle.
”Hang on, big girl. I’ll be right back. Keep Clark safe.” She shoots a tight smile as she climbs over the dino and half runs, half slides down the deck toward the control center.
Due to the tilting angle of the deck, she gets one heck of a view of the surrounding rocky landscape. ’OH I hope someone with a gun is seeing that spider walker, or it’s not going to matter if we can get the engines back online.’
At the top of her lungs she calls out, ”Bogie walker, two o’clock!”

This isn’t even the first ship she’s been on that lost power at an inopportune time. Though this one is probably the first one that did it in atmo. Cass isn’t sure she would choose a fast, firey crash to a slow, cold suffocation, but she doesn’t have time to ponder it. She rips open a control panel and starts pulling out components trying to find something to push power into. She shoves her hand in, pulling her own innate affinity for machines and technology, the spark she brings to her little inventions and toys. She pushes that power in deep, feeling it gather with other energy where the leyline should flow.
”Come on, come on, be enough. Be enough.” She can feel it catch and the engine slowly turn over.

”PULL UP! For the gods’ sake. Who’s flying this thing?!”

With Cass's contribution Antipas can feel the vessel regaining power, a quick glance at the tumbling captain tells the Atlantean that the man won't be piloting anything for at least a couple hours. Cass, can't fly a paper airplane. Luke, can't use TW stuff.
