13.1 If You Build It: The Workshop

This is the workshop and the garage, where serious building gets done. Remember, you have a +2 to build rolls done in the workshop, thanks to your upgrades to town.

For ease-of-reference, the build rules for this thread are repeated below:
Building: The mechanically-minded characters in the group can make use of the materials cache Ford mentioned to build new devices or upgrade old ones. We aren’t going to worry much about the time required to make things (we’re playing a little fast and loose with the downtime), but you do have some parameters:
  1. Post build rolls for everything you make.
  2. You can modify existing gear your character already owns or start something from scratch.
  3. This is all in-character, so everything should have at least some narration (though it need not be much). For an example of how this was done in another game, see this thread: The 1st SET Workshop.
  4. You have up to 1.5 million credits worth of whatever materials you need for this, so take advantage. Once you foray out of town, this cache will be considered cleaned out, so it’s use it or lose it. Be sure to include the cost of your item in your post.
  5. If one of you keeps track of the amount of credits spent and the amount you have left, you can have a bonus Benny for doing the accounting work.

Kuikku walks into the workshop and heaves a, slightly, bloody shirt filled with clanky bits onto a workbench. Patting the bag and then his chest he calls out. "Hey, Deezy, is there any chance you can put that water repellant mojo on this set of armor like you did this? I know we have a stock of stuff around here someplace that Ford has given us access to. Just tell me what you need and I will go get it."

Although the signs are not totally clear, Norona is convinced that vampires or their ilk await them in the jungle castle. While he knows he can summon creatures of water and wood to deal with them he also knows it might be handy to have a back up plan. The sword Deezy enchanted for him will be good in close, but being in sword fighting range of a vampire means things have already gone badly. Drawing his Wilk's 237 Pistol from its holster the elf shrugs, A good hold out weapon. Perhaps it can be made better.

Norona approaches their energetic techno-wizard with a smile, "To fight against the darkness requires light. Can you adjust the beam on this device to harness true sunlight?"

L.A.M.P. - Light Amplifying Multi-Purpose Pistol

A laser pistol with a dual selector knob and wrapped with extremely flexible monocrystalline solar panels that collect solar energy and mystically fuse it with the weapon's power cell. In pistol mode the weapon fires focused blasts of light that sting vampires and other creatures sensitive to sunlight. Turning the selector knob widens the beam creating a swath of brilliant daylight useful for illuminating dark places or keeping dark creatures at bay. Putting the knob halfway makes a low power ray suitable for cooking or boiling water for coffee.

Toshiro walks into the workshop just as Norona finishes talking with Deezy. He knows little about vampires, but knows that most supernatural monsters have a allergy to silver. However, knowing that anything Deezy works on seems to be unusable by Toshiro, he instead seeks out Conrad.

When he finds him, Toshiro bares his teeth to @Conrad, holding two fingers up near his incisors. He runs his thumb across his throat in the classic sign for killing something, and then draws his Vibroblade pinches the sharp edge of the blade and runs his two fingers along it, hoping Conrad understands the meaning

Bah! Such a weak mockery of a weapon. Retribution echo's in Toshiro's mind. Don't bother with it. You have me. Have the tiny dinosaur line my blade with silver and we will bring vengeance to those undead monstrosities!

Toshiro shakes his head I'm not letting anyone put their hands on you. Toshiro worried what the other Legionnaires would think if they knew the voice Toshiro had rattling around in his head. He certainly hoped it actually came from the sword...

Jareb fallows Gift who crawls into the workshop and scoops her up before she can get into a pack of eclips. He pulls her close patting her head gently. It seemed like Ma’ didn’t mind he was her protector and honestly by the look of his face he would be lost without her. He smiles at @Deezy Klatta and points to one of the chain swords on the ground. ” Deezy what do you think about putting some of that Klattatech into a chainsword that would turn it into one of those water swords I have seen in and around Arzno? Maybe when I sweep through it drenches the area in water. Maybe if you even got the time give it a water bazooka secondary mode?”

From his pocket he pulls out a sacred idol that looks like a warrior’s face with closed eyes. He grimaces slightly looking at hanging on a golden chain. ”This was who I was. The General of the celestial court. When I was stripped for forsaking my duty and cast down The Architect bid me to take this with me. Long did I think it was to remind me of the wound I gave the earth. But now...” Jareb shrugs a bit holding the necklace forward for her to take, ” Could you enchant it to channel my faith against the creatures of the night and provide sun light where there was none, perhaps even the ability to break black magics bonds?” The angel paused for a moment considering the emptiness of the morgue. ” Something in this swamp is set against us. Dark and old. We must be prepared.”

Never forgetting the large grackle @Conrad, Jareb heads to his area setting his baby carrier down. He smiles patting it, ” Well It aptly lets me draw my sword, what else can we do with it my large friend?”

Castle happens to be nearby when @Toshiro 'Cybermonk' tries to communicate with @Conrad. Putting a hand on @Jareb's shoulder, "Let me friend."

"Conrad, Toshiro would like the blade to combat vampires." Looking back to Toshiro, he signs the word for 'Silver'.

"Is that correct Toshiro?"

Getting the nod from Toshiro, Castle turns back towards Conrad. "I may have some Silver Ingots, should you need them and be able to take care of Toshiro's request."

A few hours after his request for a silver lined sword. Toshiro barges into the work shop, a makes his way quickly across the shop floor toward Conrad. Carrying a heavy tote bag of supplies, Toshiro is clearly out of breath, but smiles through the gasps for air.

Clearly excited about something, Toshiro reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a crumpled piece of paper. He spreads it out on the a nearby workbench. It is an advertisement in from a cyber-tech magazine.

Need a helping hand? Don't rely on others, just get a extra set of your own! The newest line in low-profile cybernetic enhancement, these AI managed extra arms will help you take care of all those extra...problems you just dont seem to have enough time in the day to....take care of.

The advertisement shows a number of images of a pair of stylish robotic arms implanted just below the users standard arms, showing how they fold up and tuck into a cavity just between the wearers ribs when not in use. Next to it are some hand drawings, clearly done by Toshiro, that show the arms being used for a number of acrobatic maneuvers, along with some rather underhanded fighting techniques.


Toshiro unloads the contents of the tote bag onto the table, revealing a number of robotic style arms, some power sources, and what appears to be some high end computer parts.

He looks up at Conrad hopefully, pointing back and forth between the advertisement and the Grackle.

Even though Castle is well known in town and he and @Jareb share some past, he is hesitant to even ask anything of the newcomers and their talents.

Still he does make an effort, "I will gladly provide my tracking skills for a compoound crossbow. And the various ammunition in bolts."
