HOTEL - The Pinnacle Hotel is located in North Gloom.

Hotel Description: Located within view of Gloom's Portal and near the Mining area is the Pinnacle Hotel. As one walks into the hotel you encounter, Ben, the D-Bee (Octopus Man), manager of the hotel. Ben is a friendly alien looking octopus man who will happily rent a room to you. The hotel looks like a converted crashed space ship turned hotel. It is located between the AC portal and the mining area. The hallways are run down metal messes. The rooms are in pretty darn nice shape by contrast.

The D-Bee Octomen looks up from behind the hotel desk as Thrudh saunters in. Turning down the volume to a 80's cartoon show on a old monitor the creature gives Thrudh a once over as sounds of, Thundercats Ho! plays in the background.

In a hoarse and rough voice, like a 60 year old chain smoker, the creature says, "I am Ben and I have rooms!"

These beings were given their name because they resemble large walking "octopi." They have eight tentacle appendages attached to a small, spherical torso and a bulbous head with two large eyes and a small beak-like mouth. Four of its tentacles function as its legs. These tentacles move in an undulating rhythm that make it seem as if the Octomen is rolling on wheels when it walks. The other four tentacles serve as arms. They have slender, tapered tips which are capable of pulling triggers, pushing buttons, and just about anything else a human hand can do. Despite their appearance, Octomen are not sea creatures and many don't even know how to swim! They have tough, rubbery skin in shades of red and brown, and unlike real squids and octopuses, Octomen are not able to change the color of their skin.

Ben holds out a tentacle to Thrudh, and asks for payment. Afterwards he hands Thrudh a set of keys to a room.

I wonder why Thrudh walked in alone, seperate from everyone? Probably not a bad idea if we are all going in undercover.
Kasey walks in nonchalantly keeping to the back of the foyer letting Thrudh distance himself and talk to "Ben" first. Despite her covert intention Kasey could not resist a small wry smile. Octopus and Grackletooth was a favorite dish of the highlord. Some fresh garlic, crushed red pepper flakes, sautéed in two table spoons of extra virgin oil... Full of flavor, bold and spicy.
Carefully she hits her comms making sure she is on the black company secure frequency, she looks at a map hanging on the wall pretending to mutter about the locations she whispers to the celestial six, " After check in lets meet up in Ember's room... Might want to get the bridal suite... We can go over our plan.". Perhaps trying too hard to blend in she knocks over a vase with her sheathed sword. In an attempt to recover she also knocks the map loose off the wall and it too clatters to the ground. Well there goes being quiet Kasey looks at Ben, and smiles awkwardly. " Seems like a tripping hazard here."
Seeing an opportunity she steps forward and smiles, " Hi there, just got in and I hear this is the place to book a room. A fantastic looking place, looks like some kind of ship from the outside." She leans on the counter, " Just out of curiosity how long have you worked here? I only ask because I am looking for work myself, I am a professional chef by trade.". Hmm yeah maybe get some work, find some locals willing to talk, someone might have seen the BAMF. While chatting with Ben, she tries to see if there is some kind of electronic registration system.

Once alone in her room, Kasey sweeps the room for any cameras and listen devices. She also looks under the cabinets and the latrine for any well placed packages left behind by a member of the BAMF. Satisfied with her search Kasey gathers her gear and touches the black sun tattoo on her face nothing happens and Kasey Shrugs. She quickly exists her room with all due stealth, making her way to Embers room. Kasey Whispers into her comms, " Ember I am outside your room hidden, open up." Needless to say hiding out in the open is not the best place to hide. Hmm thats right I did not turn invisible

Kasey looks at Ben, and smiles awkwardly. "Seems like a tripping hazard here."

Defensive or maybe cowering Ben stays low and behind the counter when Kasey comes in. In a hoarse and rough voice Ben says, "S, s, sorry."

Ben flinches as Kasey talks. "I, um, I have been here a long time. Job postings are by the restaurant or... Talk to Giest or Rene, or go ask the AC for work."

Ben tosses Kasey a set of keys and takes her credits. He seems leery or frightened of Kasey.

Prior to making her way to Ember's room Kasey finds no hidden security or secrets in her room. Kasey does notice that: The hallways are run down metal messes with trash and other odd bits tossed around, nothing of value really. The rooms are in pretty darn nice shape by contrast. Well kept and higher tech, with great climate control and clean linens.

Thrudh glances sideways at Kasey as she blunders about the room, knocking things over and making a spectacle of herself. Wow. This one's a real professional. They'll never see us coming. Might as well put up a sign. So much fer Altaran agility. He shakes his head and continues up to his room. Once inside, he does a sweep of the room, looking for any sort of listening or video bugging devices. He also checks the bedding for bed bugs or similar creatures. Standard operating procedure in any hotel.

Ben waves at Thrudh as he leaves the front office.

With what is likely a smile the Octi-man's happy voice answers Gargamel, "Of course! AC members are always welcome. Hopping night! Making my fortune tonight tehehe yesss. Come in good Sir."

Ben pushes a ring of keys towards the blond man, "Your room key Sir."

Deep rumbled and scratchy voice happy Ben waves his many limps happily.

Looking around suspiciously Ben lifts himself up higher to get closer to Gargamel, "I seen no CEAL in here for a week. Just a few random Mercs tonight looking for jobs."

Ben winks at Gargamel and goes back to his Thundercats show.

Alecto enters and pauses just inside the door to look around the hotel's 'lobby.' To her knowledge she had never been on a spacecraft before, and she always liked to give herself a moment when doing something new to see if it connected to memory chunks that had been set 'adrift' by corruption. Nothing this time though.

She proceeded to the front desk, a petite young woman carrying a comically oversized plasma weapon on a sling, with the scabbard of her vibroblade bouncing along at her hip. Her Huntsman armor carried no emblem nor insignia...she could be any random mercenary.

"I'd like a room, please," Alecto said.

Lobby

A young woman enters, her shockingly bright blue hair dangling in two insanely long braids. Her lipstick and nail polish is a pinkish-violet, almost but not quite the same reddish-purple color as her eyes.

She wears a black leather jacket with silver metal spikes at the collar, and a tight tanktop under it ,revealing part of a blue cloud tattoo shows on her right side. She taps the desk impatiently, though it's not like the octopus man has really had time to do or say anything.
"What's taking so long? I'm starting to get bored, and when I get bored things tend to go..."
She puts her hands together in a a double fist, then flings them apart, fingers spread wide at the end of her arms.
"...BOOM!"

She sees Thundercats on the screen behind him.
Hmm. Plan C, too.
"Ooh, carTOONS! I LOVE cartoons! I can watch them ALL DAY if I'm left alone, it's almost as much fun as blowing stuff up! Can I get cartoons in my room? Maybe the captains quarters, if this thing really was a space ship? If I can get cartoons in a nice big room, I promise not to blow anything up!"
She smiles broadly - wildly - it's perhaps more disturbing than reassuring.

"Oh, and I've got a crate of stuff to be brought up to my room, but tell your bellhops to be real gentle, we wouldn't any accidents, now would we?"

A young woman enters, ... a black leather jacket with silver metal spikes at the collar, and a tight tanktop under it ,revealing part of a blue cloud tattoo shows on her right side. Setting his katana down on the lobby desk Ben raises up in his many legs. He looks. "Real bullet?"
"A room! I need a room, a nice big one with lots of space. I need my space."
Ben arches an eyebrow and almost answers Ember.
"Ooh, carTOONS! I LOVE cartoons! I can watch them ALL DAY if I'm left alone, it's almost as much fun as blowing stuff up! Can I get cartoons in my room?
Turning around the video monitor Ember sees that the screen is split. Part shows the cartoon Ben is watching. The Second half shows the room, the entire lobby that Ember and Ben are in. The view of the lobby on the split screen is in odd colors. Almost a cross of night vision and heat vision. Chuckling Ben just nods. Hands over a set of keys and says, "It's not the biggest room but about the size of four normal rooms. It is a good place to meet with...companions. I mean. If you were to have any here. At the moment it's just a bunch of random Mercs who showed up on same day all paying for a full month. I see nothing. Your privacy is #2 here. #1 is no fighting in the hotel. This is my livelihood. Enjoy your stay blue hair. Oh. Yes. I stream 'toons. All I have."

Returning to his show Ben absently waves.

Later in her room, Ember finds no bugging devices.

Ben watches Ember walk away. He smiles.

After Hans comes in Ben nods his head and says, "Your keys."

THE PINNACLE HOTEL (Ember's Larger Room)

Ember's Larger Room.

Assuming you all get together in Ember's room, if not I will change post, sounded like that was the plan.

As the members of the Black Company assemble in Ember's larger room they can see out the side windows. A view of mist, and metal and stone. The large green metal building belonging to the AC, the tall thin stone portal made of stone and the dense mist all about. Of note, the proximity to the portal should be noticeable to those capable of detecting arcane and mage. However, your eyes say, look dimensional portal, but you detect nothing from the portal. As you look at it you see the face of the portal flash like a open rift and several men in armor with weapons step out from elsewhere to here. Dropping gear and ushering a dozen workers through the portal onto this side, the workers look to be miners. One man shakes hands with a few of the miners and they all look friendly with each other. Miners and their security team. As the portal flashes closed those that just used it head towards the large green metal AC building, carrying boxes. One of the security men stops and watches. His hair blows about in a breeze, and he pulls his black scarf tight about his neck. A white lab coat wearing man makes his way out of the building and approaches the security man, as they talk the security man nods and agrees to something. Handing the security man a set of goggles, the man puts them on his head. Both then head into the AC building.

A push of a button can release a liquid murk to cover the windows if desired for privacy.

Inside the room, there are several seats that are about to be sat in, several more are fold up chairs leaning against the far wall. Ember's crate of goods sits on the floor near her bed and there is a pitcher of water and glasses on a desk top. No less than three large monitors can be used to watch cartoons. The room is neat and clean. Well kept compared to the hallways.

On a night stand near the bed is a magazine rack with one magazine in it. If looked at the booklet is a welcome mag for a place called the Fissure of Woe, a gambling and gladiatorial arena located on what looks to be a different world. No reference to what world is given, but the place is definitely not Earth.

Another interesting detail of the large rented room is a E-Clip Re-charger on one wall. The device looks like it is used for free.

Gathering in Ember's room the six of you are free to talk about whatever and decide upon your next course of action, or just hang out.

Game Master Note
Before you all leave the room, after you all have a chance to talk about what you want, a knock will be heard at the door. I will post that later. Give you a chance to RP a tad before whoever shows up, shows up. By the way, we will say Karchev was feeling ill and is on the Morose feeling sick. He may join you later if he feels better. OOC I emailed and PM'd but no reply. So talk among your selves and I will get the next post out at some point, who might be visiting you? Ben? Emperor Prosek? A agent from the AC? Thrudh settles into his room and lights up a cigar. Stashing his gear in an appropriate location, he takes a seat. Taking a deep, cigar smoke-filled breath, he closes his eyes for just a moment.
Gonna miss the Tic. No doubt he'd have a plate of burgers in hand just as soon as he got set. Boy, Thrudh, how'd ya get here? Wanted by the CS. Feds probably don't like yer kind neither. As she had gotten her room very near the same time Ember had, Alecto simply followed Ember and noted which door she unlocked before going to her own room.

Inside her room she went to the window and surveyed the slice of the city she could see out through it. Her duffle sat on her bed. She made no attempt to locate surveillance devices; it was unlikely she'd be spending much time in the room, and she had no plans to do anything of importance within it. If anyone wished to monitor this, it would be advantageous that they waste their time doing so.

When Thrudh's radio signal went out, she took that as a sign others were congregating. She picked up her duffle and took it with her to Ember's room.

Kasey comes into the room as well. Yeah what is first? Kasey lays into a wall with her fist. " I got to say, second I want to know what the hell happened to the second SET? Third I want to know who the hell framed Black Company. I mean we were fairly secret, only Choake at the tomorrow legion knew about us... As far as I know." Kasey faces each of the members, she passionately asks, " First though, I need to know are we a team? Black company is gone, we could just easily scatter. But dammit I signed up to do what was hard. Sure the ostrosaurus eggs fucking broke all over the floor, but we can make some tasty scramble. Its in me to do what is necessary to protect the dream of the the tomorrow legion even from itself." Kasey slams her sword into the floor, making a literal impact. " I am in if you are in."

Ember tries not to wince at Thrudh's idea of discretion and Kasey's outburst against the floor. She is only mostly successful. She sighs, sweeps her blue hair back from her face, and settles cross-legged on the bed.

"Thrudh's right. If any of us were gonna get off the crazy train now, we'd have done it already. In for a penny, in for a pound. Hopefully we won't have to pay a pound of flesh for it."

She pauses, trying to move on from that gruesome thought and to putting her thoughts in order.

"First things first." She holds up her index finger. "We have a number of objectives, and only so much time before we get discovered; we need to prioritize, and maybe work out how to kill two or more birds with one stone. We have our personal objectives - clear our names, find out who's behind it, and kick their arses to the moon and back. We have our BC job still - find and eliminate the remainder of the 2nd. We have our job from the Sky Knights, to depose Giest and help the OTO take power. Last and frankly somewhat least, find out what happened to the missing BAMF members. Luckily some of the lower priority tasks will likely help us towards the higher priority tasks, so though they are lower priority, we need not ignore them. Notably they give us allies in this town, something we will no doubt need before we leave."

"Second," Her middle finger joins her index in the air. "We come up with an initial plan of attack. Who do we need to make contact with, where can we get the intel we need, and so on. These first two we should do here and now."

"Third," She adds her ring finger to prior two. "Establish cover - nothin' more suspicious than a bunch of 'unemployed' mercs snoopin' around. We need a job, or jobs individually, that let us case where we need to case, access intel we need, or even just give us a reason to be here. Our contacts may be able to help with that. That should be our priority task tomorrow."

"Fourth," Her pinky goes up. "Procure at least two safe locations for meetings. This room will do for now, but we should have a contingency prepared. I've already planted a cover story that we all did a job aboard the Morose, and that's why we arrived together. I feigned distaste and disdain for the rest of you too try and counter notions that we were working together. We can augment that by procuring separate domiciles or workspaces outside the hotel."

She relaxes her fingers, and runs them through her bright blue hair again.

"After that, we get down to the real work."

There's gotta be a bar. Get people drinkin', get people talkin'. Bound ta be somebody who knows somebody lookin' fer help. Maybe somebody oughta get on with the AC and figure out what's happenin' there." Ring finger joins middle finger.

Smoke rings.

"That's two birds." He drags on the cigar again.

"I say priority is overthrow. Giest either tricked or turned the 2nd SET. Handle Giest fer the Sky Knights, bet the 2nd comes outta their hidey hole. Alecto can record us foilin' the plot, an' that clears our names."

He puts his pinky up, but looks unsure and changes it to the index finger. No, back to the pinky. Then he gives up. "Pfft. I got fingers an' I got cigars, an' I can't keep track a' which finger ain't holdin' the cigar and which finger is part a' the plan. BAMF I say we figure out once somebody gets inside the AC. That's where they disappeared from, yeah?"

He takes a long drag off his cigar and exhales, slowly. "So who goes where? Garg and Hansie might be able ta fit in with the AC. If there's a motor pool fer the AC, I can get in there. Ember 'n Alecto might start with the politickin' end a' things. Get around in Giest's court, hobnob with official types. Might run inta 2nd SET while yer at it, I'm guessin'. Kasey, I ain't familiar with yer expertise. Yer one a' us though, so don't wait ta get in where ya fit in."

As he turns into Kasey, he realises that he can't see and quickly reverts to the blonde haired man he had changed into before.

"Whoa," he shook his head as his sight returned, "Probably best that I don't impersonate Kasey. I'm not used to being blind and I don't have any way to compensate for that."

  • Clear our names, eliminate the 2nd SET, get rid of Giest and help the OTO and Rene of the AC take power, and finally locate the missing BAMF members.
As Kasey reaches for the door she is about to grab the door nob when there is a sudden and loud:

Three rapid knocks, thrice. Then silence. A piece of paper is slid under the door and there is no longer a presence of the Arcane on the other side of the door.
  • If the door is opened the hallway is empty, just scattered debris and nothing else.
The Folded In Half Paper Reads
A man named Rip called the front desk. He requested your presence at the main building of the Arcane Company, the big green metal building you can see out your window, next to the portal. I do not know who you are for real, but I am a avid fan of the OTO and supporter of them being empowered. That last sentence would get me killed by Giest and her CEAL creatures if known publicly. I hope you will respect my safety as much as I and my security will watch over your safety while you are here. I know Rip, he is a good man I believe, he works for the AC and reports to Rene. When he called me he stated you were here to help us. I hope that is so. If I can, secretly, assist you in any way I shall. I have no desire to lose my hotel or life. Discretion is appreciated. You can always write a note and slid it under your door, Ces will bring it to me. Ces, my friend and security, patrols non stop in the halls of the hotel, any attempt to access you will result in you being warned by a sequence of knocking on your door, such as you just experienced. Good luck to you, who ever you are, and Rip will be waiting for you - just look out your window to see the AC building.

His hand goes to the vibro-knife at his belt, then he sees the paper.
"Well, that's somethin'. Kasey, what's it...aw, nevermind. Here. Lemme."
He reaches to the paper and reads it. He begins to announce its contents to the group, then stops short. "Looks like ol' Legs...well, I'll just shut up. Y'all go 'head and take a look." He passes the paper around so as not to announce with any volume the contents of the message.

Kasey seems particulary frustrated. what the hell, Thrudh I cannot read.. She taps her blind eye sockets. "Damit, This is worse than when the highlord beat me because I could not read a map... Ok not worse, but still...". When the note gets past back to her she slices it up with her sword. With her weapons and gear ready to go she looks at Alecto, Thrudh, Gargamel, and Ember ( I assume Hans is there). " So where too?"

He takes a puff of his cigar and blows the smoke out through his nose in a bit of a blast. He picks up the tatters of the note and proceeds to ignite them with the end of his cigar, letting them burn to nothing.

Kasey adjusts her sword scabbard and laser rifle, she takes one of Thrudh's arms and accompanies him to the AC building.
She smiles at him, sweet and with a hint of fun. " Now tell me about this cigar you are smoking. I find the sweet stench mildly intoxicating..." I do wonder if it somehow flavors the meat.

Thrudh's eyes perk up a little, and he begins expounding on the cigar he's currently smoking. "They call it acid, but I don't know why. It's as smooth as Eleanor on unbroken pavement. Just glides down the throat. The filler is spiced with somethin' or other, don't really know what. But it ain't as bold as some others I smoke. The wrap is even, consistent. Ain't too tight though. Lets the air flow freer. It's good fer relaxin' yer mind. I imagine this'd be the cigar ol' Tic woulda liked after a heapin' plate a' burgers. It's a light spice ta cap off a heavy meal or a heavy day like we had." He takes a long drag and lets the smoke roll around in his mouth for a minute before blowing out a smooth exhale.
He ashes the cigar, then offers it to Kasey. "Give it a puff?"

  • Returning to the hotel you are greeted by loud cartoons and the jovial welcome from Ben. Waving many tentacles he welcomeds you back. Apparently time works differently on Amarok IV or Ben is nuts. He says that he has missed you this last month. Your rooms were prepaid for, 6 months paid for. Bennie very happy about this. He says AC reps came by and paid.

    Switching the old world TV from ’toons to a recording of a concert you hear some pretty damn good music being played. Ben tell you nothing too exciting has happened since you were last here. Other than the best concert he has ever been to. You can watch it in you Lt room TVs. You notice Ben is wearing a concert shirt he got at the concert he is taking about. He excitedly tells you he was in the front row s are! He got to spend some time back stage too. The place was a literal orgy!

    Eventually Ben stops long enough to click his teeth and hands you updated room keys.

”No. It was a concert put on to help the homeless kids in Gloom. Was a fantastic concert. Best I’ve heard. Those Germans. Wow. Giest killed so many here.... uh. So anyway they raised money. But. The money was stolen!! Sad. The news reports that all 1,250,000 of the raised money was stolen! Geesh. Hmm yes. You have a message. Some Sky Captain came by. He said he was out of here. I guess Giests CEALS found your Dog Boy Friends. Killed them. The Sky Captain said he housed your four vehicles at the docks. Paid the lease for a year and left. Dock 44.”

Ben goes back to watching the recording of the concert.

Ben squints up his octo man face and his many tentacles calm for a moment as he looks at Alecto.

”Drei Marbles Left are heroes. Their concert was meant to fund an orphanage. I don’t even think the band asked for anything in return. Over a million raised and then stolen. Someone evil took that money. Victor Inlay of the local radio station and of all people Mayor Giest got the German band to come here all the way across the world to play a benefit concert for those kids. Oh course most of those kids are without families because of Giest. I don’t know what her deal is but Victor is the best DJ ever! Well was. I think I heard he was killed...there’s a lot of news flying around that a Black Company Mercenary Group is to blame for the theft. On my honor I met Tasha Wicked last night. She try’s to be inconspicuous and all, but it’s her. So pretty. She’s staying here. Can you believe it! She a wicked bass player! Oh. Sorry I just get excited. Anyway yeah. That’s it. No other messages.”

"I uh, I dunno. Tasha Wicked is.....kinda, she looks like she could be a hand full if she got mad. I saw her disguised in combat armor and with weapons when she first arrived. She...I swear she looked like a killer. Look. I. Understand wanting to meet her. When the girl combs her hair I want to date her and I'm not into humans. Her room number is S1-22. Sub level, under us, room 22. Please. Approach her carefully and... don't tell her I told you. Be careful out there. Like I say, dangerous times with the Black Company in town and being hunted by CEALs."

Alecto goes to the elevator and, stepping inside, presses the button to go to the sub-level. It had risks, but the musicians at the concert might know more about Giest and her activities and goals. It was also possible, given Ben's description of their arrival, that they were not only musicians.

At the sub-level she glanced up and down the hall, and proceeded to room 22. Then knocked on the door.

  • The door creeps open just a peep, and the drowsy eye of Sammy looks up at Alecto. "Meow, hey there Partner. Ain't no one in here but me. Found this door open and figured it must be the universe telling me it's time for a cat nap." . Sammy opens the door wide for Alecto, " Come on in partner not much in here except for that case next to the bed." Sammy pushes a Dres Marbles Left flyer on the ground towards Alecto, " Seems like we missed a concert while off planet. Looks like it was too raise money for an orphanage." Sammy finds a nice spot on the ground and puts his head in his paws yawning.

She entered the room and looked around, recording the contents. Clearly the musician was canny enough not to leave personal effects behind. A little odd she wasn't more careful with the case. A thermal scan revealed no hotspots, or evidence of power sources, so she opened it up. Inside, a guitar. A very nice-looking personalized one. The source of her livelihood. Just left here.

"The concert seems as if it was put on by Giest, for the stated purpose of benefiting orphans. This is not consistent with what we know of her, though it would make sense if she was behind the theft of the proceeds. Given the circumstances, I decided it was a good idea to investigate the musicians as well."

Alecto reached into her survival pack and fished around for a moment, then produced the small radio transmitter that came standard with such packages. She turned it on, adjusted its output frequency, and tucked it into the guitar case alongside the guitar's neck where it wouldn't tumble around if the case was moved.

It would be easily found if it was opened, but...no matter. Tasha didn't seem very attached to the instrument.

"If they have conversations in this vicinity in the next several hours, I will be able to overhear."

She closed the case, then compared it to the recording, and adjusted it so it matched the old position precisely.

"Lets go."

Three hours later, having just finished putting it back together, Hans smiles to himself as he concentrates and recharges the Sonic Cannon.

For that matter so are walls. I reckon you are asking me if the door was shut when I entered, and I would reckon so. It was dark, and these halls are well lit. Although some say I am a dead sleeper... Supose someone could have came in while I was gettting my shuteye." Sammy plucks the rose and puts it back. He blinks and looks down at his crystal pendant. It glows briefly, " Meow, Jobbi here says he didn't see anything... Sammy chuckles, "Jobbi sometimes misses the obvious though... About as real as the rose."

Meow, she seems to really want that case... Going on and on about it. Sammy you know what to do.
Sammy smiles and nods, " Now don't worry a tic tock second partner. Let ole Sammy get that case for you." Sammy bounds back down the hallway they had come, disapears through the wall like it was not even there. Moments later comes out of the wall carrying a case with a guitar in it. He drops it at Alecto's feet as if depositing a dead bird. " Meow that should satify your curiosity whether door was open or not." He starts to make his way out, " Common, lets go meet the rest, I think Hans will need my nose before our little trip to the market is over."

Sammy shakes his mystified. Women... For a moment Alecto can tell Sammy's usual jovial self has teken a setback. " Well you had been carrying on about the case all this time. It seemed like you had a great need to collect it or something." Sammy does as she asks he renters the room and opens the door for her. " There, the door is now open... Meow, please don't ask me if that individual lying in the bed has been here the whole time... But you have to ask how long was our walk and talk?" Sammy blinks at Alecto flashing her a renewed smile, and steps aside to allow her entry into the room.

"I was in the room," Alecto points out. "If I'd wanted it, I could easily have taken it myself. I was asking because I wished to ensure the room was left exactly as Tasha Wicked left it. Closing and locking the door behind us, if she had left it open, would be a clue for her to realize that her belongings had been tampered with."

She paused and surveyed the bedroom again, out of general habit, then replaced the guitar case on the little table near the bed...again using her footage of seeing it for the first time to make sure it was exactly how it had been then.

Meow, there she goes carrying on about the case. Although this time she is drawing on quite a bit. At least she did not ask about the body. Sammy watches her put the case back. Hey Jobbi, can you give me a bit of light? I want to see who is resting in that bed.. Sammy's green crystal pendant where is pixie Jobbi either resides or is trapped glows briefly. Wait a sec! Wasn't there someone in the bed like half a heart beat ago!! Looked a bit like the feller that introduced that tooting band Dres Marbles Left... As Alecto gets close to the bed, Sammy sees a small splotch of blood and whispers, " Mind the slick partner, don't want any footprints, or slips... Poor feller where did he disapear too. I swear on my nine lives there was a feller here lying eternally restful on the bed, just a tick of my heart... Looked like the radio station feller, was his name Vector?"

  • Before Alecto and Sammy can leave the now perfectly placed case and guitar where it was, pre-invasion of Tasha Wicked's room, a soft clicking sound can be heard.

    The hotel room door creaks open a little and a small gust of wind blows Alecto's hair about. From out in the hallway you hear a soft moaning then a voice that says:

    "Not your room. Leave."

    A peek out into the hallway will show a body being pulled into the wall, Vector's body from the radio station? Likely, as you catch a glimpse of it the last vestiges of clothing and blood, bone and sinew are pulled through a wall AC grate and then disappear. No sign of blood or gore or Vector is left.

    This time a distant voice can be heard from above, inside Tasha Wicked's room, from the vent there:

    "Not your room. Touching is wrong. Go smell my flowers or return to your own room. Leave or I will tell Ben."

    The blood drops that Sammy had seen are gone.

Sammy licks his lips thinking for a moment. Caspers Grave! Meow, partner you are going to do as your wind directs. But, twllin' folks younsaw a ghost clean a room that you broke into is going to land you in the looney bin... I saw it sure as heck but I still don't beleive it." Sammy takes a moment still looking at the AC vent. "Tell squids we dropped a can of tar on the ground and before we knew it it was whisked away to parts unknown... What a fantastic cleaning service this hotel has... See if that makes squids jumpy. He'll sure as sweat give us a right fine answer if we ask the right question." Sammy bound down the hall towards the front desk.

"The creature threatened to inform Ben of our intrusion," Alecto pointed out as she closed the door behind them and accompanied Sammy back to the front desk. "It's likely he knows of it."

When they arrived at the desk, with the octopus Ben still watching his video screen, Alecto tapped the bell and waited until he acknowledged her presence.

"I went to Tasha Wicked's room to see if she would be willing to speak with me. Her door was open when I arrived, and there was a dead body within the room. A local radio performer, I believe. The body was then...removed, or possibly consumed...by something I didn't get a good look at it, pulling it into the ventilation system."

She paused, then nodded. "I thought you should know. I am not familiar with the local laws, or how they treat cases like this."

Ben makes a sound that is likely a bubbly gurgling laughter. He calms his many arms and takes a deep breath.

”No my cat friend. Cess will not face to face with you. Unless you cause some trouble here. However that would result in your death. Cess doesn’t think like us. It I gather has always lived on the ship. Even when it was in space. Cess doesn’t talk to me. The ship computer used to work... I was able to read up on Cess’shul then. But. Computers been down for years. Was blown up in a firefight.”

Ben looks back at the TV. Animated cartoon figures run amuck on the screen and one character says, “I would have gotten away with it too if it weren’t for you darn kids.”

Alecto paused, considering, then said, "Thank you, Ben. My condolences for the loss of your radio performer. If it matters, his murderer is still at large and seemed to think the musician's room was an appropriate place to hide the body."

"Then again, given the nature of this place, it make sense to hide bodies here, knowing they will soon be destroyed without a trace."

She looks at Sammy, then departs the hotel, heading for the black market rendezvous.

There was an upgrade she needed to obtain.
