Balance

Balance
Good and evil. Light and Dark. Positive and Negative. Some who practice the mystic arts strive for balance. The balance trapping requires using two equal and opposite powers to garner the desired effect. This can be a blessing and a curse. For example, one could rob their enemy of power while gaining it for themselves or sacrifice their own strength to aid a companion. The unpredictable nature of the various forces in the world also mean sometimes things don't work out as planned. This is a common trapping for mystics and other practitioners who seek to balance forces.
  • Dual Power - MUST use two opposite powers simultaneously on two separate targets (e.g. Boost & Lower Trait or Quick and Slow) with no MAP, but full PPE cost for both effects; only one Wild Die for both castings. The caster must know both spells. If either roll fails, both do, and full power point cost is still paid. Treat raises individually as per the normal rules for each power.
  • Unintended Consequences - On a critical failure the results of the power are reversed from the user's intention!
