Also, a couple of little things;
1. if you have anything in your background you would like me to include please let me know so I can start building it in

2. Just noting from posts, the only dice roll required on a post is the notice roll and wild dice. We don't use Just in case rolls here unlike the EU site because there are too many dice types for that.

Good point we never said who was in charge.

Oh I got Mica and Penny backwards. Mica is the one who is 16, so yes that would leave Penny as the most rational choice.

In alphabetical order we have...
Heracles = Insane, not likely to make the wisest of decisions.
Kidemónas = Young Adolescent level maturity, not likely to make the wisest of decisions.
Mica = Middle Adolescents, but with military experience.
Penny = Only sane adult without disadvantages.
Savant = Insane, not likely to make the wisest of decisions.
  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

I think that Pennywise being our overall leader makes a lot of sense--she's got the Smarts for it, and is our best Investigator.

Mica is our strongest face--Penny might want to let her take the lead in social situations.

Lol,
Hearing Herc tell us about Dr Carter reads like hearing friends tell you about a Nigerian Prince.
Just send money, that is all it takes. Then he will fix all your worries. Lol

In one of my face to face groups the players ended up making allies with Lt. Beehan and after some good RP and a bunch of ridiculous persuasion rolls in a dramatic tasks they convinced him to become a sympathizer. We got an extra three nights of adventure as they had to sneak into his home town to rescue his family and get them to safety. Combined with the drama of I had to give him a 15 year old rebel who was angry about leaving home.

I think during down time Kidemónas will be asking for Savant & Mica to help him learn so he can get better at sword. I know mechanically in SW Fighting = Swordplay, but even then there is a huge gap between d6 and d10/d12. One I think Kidemónas could appreciate. There are lots of people he could learn lots of skills from, but it never hurts to practice more with skills that help you live longer.

Poor guy. He is just trying to do his job well and these bunch of monsters come along and start messing with him. I imagine once he figures out what Kid is things will get awkward.

I am sure by now Kidemònas is starting to think, hey I want to go drink in some Ley lines, those things are awesome.

I just realized somewhere along the way I started using a d6 for notice (I think it started when I copied and pasted from another post without paying attention to detail) as the only notice roll that mattered was for his Danger sense in the first battle and that was done correctly I don't think it is a big deal. But I figured I would point it out in case people wondered why he is all of a sudden only rolling a d4.

Well, assuming folks like the idea. Savant just figures, "Different skill-sets, different tasks." Note: Savant is explicitly of the idea that none of them should leave town alone. So it shouldn't be TOO risky--if there's screams or explosions, the rest of the party will come running, after all.

Heck yeah.
She has a 87.5% chance of rolling a success on a cooking roll that is a better percentage than an extra with a d12+1 (only a 75% chance).

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and stop there and roll Persuasion which should end in hilarity or just no information. =)

Notice Total 6, +2 Olfactory: [dice]0[/dice]
Wild Dice: [dice]1[/dice]

Persuasion Total -1: [dice]2[/dice]
Wild Die[dice]3[/dice]

I cannot possibly see anything wrong with this approach, it has to work. Afterall he is not judging them.

Ah! Technically that's if I roll a 1 on each die, which I didn't, I just had totals that went into the negatives LOL!

With Kid having removed himself from the scene I assume I should post in the Town Square that he is looking for Penny?

I do not know how large or crowded you are considering the town and square area.

With a notice of 4 will I be able to locate any of my companions?

Subject: Cornell's Tent

He looked at Mica closely, taking note of her military bearing.

Oh, this has to be good. Tell him!

He would go from mildly complaint to guarded in seconds.

Being broke sucks, and I don't think a young dragon would like it any more than I. Yep, at this point I think Kid is going to start working on getting some credits or starting a hoard. Looking at the prices reminded me of when I was homeless and could not afford anything.

Lol, without a home I imagine he will have to start dragging around a little wagon or trailer so he can collect a hoard. This will go in the 'remember when file' as I will have to think about a dragon needing to beg help to acquire a radio and basic supplies. All that awesome power comes at a price and this is where he has to deal with it.

He may not have a home-as-such, but he does have some kind of housing in the barracks for the time being (presumably a large storage room or something so he can sleep in dragon form).

Yep. Adventurers retire millionaires or die.

Normally after first adventure you end up with more than you can sell.

Kid is not big on subtly, but he gets the point across. Plus he figures this guy just gave him the only tool he needed so he made need to do business with him in the future.

But yes, greedy is definitely something I envision for Kidemónas. Perhaps to replace Big Mouth?

I will post tomorrow to get us moving. You have plenty of options to investigate and the skills to do so, so the team will need to decide what route to take.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

just a reminder to Mica and Penny that you still need to vote on the GM poll and post any issues you might have with the game so far.

Man, I am having trouble figuring out what to buy for my advance. Too many good options.

Bumping up fighting and either Shooting or Psionics.
Off The Handle.
Two-Weapon Fighting.
First Strike.
Quick Draw.

Le sigh.

The rules let you save the xp.
So if you want you could save it until a better decision.
Personally I am unsure also.

XP spent--really, Acrobat was the king of no-brainers at this point.

The big question is whether it's worth it to build to Gymnastic Mastery at Veteran. The ability to ignore Difficult Terrain is probably the biggest advantage, there, along with the ability to climb at a rate of 12"/rd.

Hm... Let's see, if I do Spirit d8 at N3, then Major Psi at S1, I can do Smarts d8 at S2, Master Psi at S3, and Climb d6/Shoot d12 (or whatever) at S4; that leaves V1 clear to be Gymnastic Mastery. From then on, it would probably be Psi-related Edges (powers, Power Points) and Agility bumps....
Savant
Stat Block
Altara Warrior Woman Crazy (Visibly Altaran)
Agility d12+4, Smarts d8, Spirit d8, Strength d12, Vigor d12
Pace: 12/d6; Parry: 10 (Uncanny Reflexes -2); Toughness: 16(6)
Charisma: +2 Attractive/-4 if anti-Altaran/-2 if Bloodthirsty known
Skills: Psionics d12; Shooting d10; Fighting d12; Notice d4+4; Tracking d4+2; Survival d4+2; Streetwise d4+2; Climbing d4; Common Knowledge d6; Agility Tricks d12+8
Edges: Quick, Alertness, Brawler/Martial Artist, Dirty/Tricky Fighter, Mighty Blow, Split the Seconds, Off the Handle, Acrobat, Major Psionic, Gun Nut, Quick Draw, Imp. Counterattack
Additional Edges: Gymnastic Mastery
Hindrances: Curious, Poverty, Stubborn, Major Phobia: Birds, Bloodthirsty, Blind-ish, Quirk
Bennies: 3/3
ISP: 18/20

Powers: Clairvoyance, Divination, Mind-Reading
  • Q2/19 Adventure Cards:
Rabbit Out of My Hat - Play this card to gain +2 on any Trick test until the end of the scene.
Mechanical Malfunction - A device malfunctions in some way: guns jam, bow strings break, etc. The device can be fixed by a Repair roll at -4 and 10 minutes work.
Dressed to Kill - Your hero dresses up, is “on” for the night, or otherwise far more attractive or charismatic than usual. Add +4 to your Charisma for the duration of the current “scene.”

I think I may take the Disguise spell.

It will let him pretend to be a "Giant from size 4 to size 8" without losing his his own abilities.

Nice, now two helpful people are being ganged up on.
The poor officer first and now Mica. Next we will be picking on Lithari.

on a successful notice check, she seems trouble and feels she did something bad towards the group.

Mica just doesn't have anything to say at the moment but does understand that she has put the team in a tough position with Cornell. I wanted to make a post so it was not like I was not doing anything.

That's fine. I see it as Mica being a little naive about the CS because of being from another Earth and humans pulling together there and how badly some of her team would react. It makes perfect sense in character

Of course, our potential two new players won't be fans of the Lieutenant either

Hi Guys!

Freya Kay reporting for duty! Thank you for having me!

Corrington... I see White Hoof has a big vehicle, and Freya too. Maybe one of us can "change" his vehicle for another thing?

White Hoof, Freya took the "Rich" Edge for the vehicle? You?

If you want your vehicle, maybe she can change to a new Power edge, and get a new gizmo.

Or Freya can keep her brand new Zone Ranger ATV (TW), and White Hoof can get something else...

White Hoof,
I was originally planning on making Kid very tanky as a dragon. But I noticed your build is designed to be a tank also. Will this bug you to have both of us in the same type of roll?
If not I will continue on happily, but if it will ruin your enjoyment I can go the AB Magic rout. (I have been in games where things like this bugged people and they did not talk about it early enough, so I want to be certain this game lasts.)

I am not against "tanks" to get behind of. Freya is very combat-deficient, and have been called "squishy" on occasions.

It's all good sir. White Hoof is a bit smaller so he'll fit places you won't also as said he is more ground based with his atv and such. You don't have to worry about me feeling left out. When I see a dragon in a game I understand that it will be the most physically powerful member but the size limits where they can use their toughness so a backup tank is always a good idea.

If I rember correctly your stats stay the same but your toughness changes when you shift so in open areas you'll shine and I got the "dungeon" environment *thumbs up* we got this. It'll be a different character type anyway.

What Mica said, to both of you. Look forward to your presence in what I'm sure will be a totally peaceful resolution to what is doubtless all just a humorous misunderstanding.

Actually I will change out my vehicle and ride with you. It'll give me some more rolls on the charts and I wasn't really that good at driving it anyway due to being a cyborg lol.

Do you mind me changing that Mr Corrigon? What I would actually love to do is spend three EP and replace my MKII atv with the huge CS atv that is heavily modded for White Hoof to operate and we could have an awesome convoy of trucks that can haul stuff. I am fine either way. Of course this is all up to Corrigon. I will be rolling into town in my new ride if he lets me.

Streetwise requires people to speak to.

Probably better that you use it for either a common knowledge check or notice. Both will provide different information for you.

Nice first roll made with the character and it's an ace.
Hoof looks around seeing that they are the only two present and let's out a bull like huff annoyed.

"Gorammit...

I miss wall guard duty. You can't plan for anything out here with all the kuso random teleporting that always happens.
It looks like we lost Wolfgang, Pierce, and our goram ride."

"Gorammit..."

More than a bit annoyed White Hoof stands looking around as he checks the status of his weapons.

"Stick close string bean. I'll take any hits thrown at us, you focus on finding out if we are even on the same dren reality and if so, how do we can contact our assign squad"

Hoof pulls out his plasma ejector and cocks it. The weapon hums to life as a faint red glow appears deep inside the barrel.

Hey Corrigan,
My friends Andrew is reading the site rules and familiarizing himself with the site today.
Then he is going to make a Line Walker Lyn Srial, I was hoping he could have the last empty spot in this group after approved if that works for you.

On the post for Freya and White Hoof, I asked them to make some technological based skill rolls - Freya has quite a few, which will net her a fair bit of information judging by those rolls.

I'm not bringing these two in the same way I brought Heracles in.

Yes, you roll either Techno-wizardry for normal stuff, fighting for melee attacks or shooting for ranged attacks.
