Background
Sacha was raised in an Ares facility in Siberia. Nominally he was to be sold to either the SVR (Russian Foreign Intelligence Service) or the Directorate, but fate took another turn. He was one of the older trainees on site, often used as a mentor to the younger ones. As he saw more and more of it, he began to feel there was no end for them but servitude or death.

Among other things, his skills as a hacker and in electronics got him additional training. He was eventually given a terminal so his services could be loaned out to SVR Hacker Farms remotely. It was this way he began to learn of the outside world. Seeing no way for himself to thrive where he was, he put out a tip that led SPEAR right to him.

He was freed by a team working to infiltrate the ARES facility on the tip he had let loose. They began receiving "help" as Sacha hacked doors, cameras, and alarms until he himself was caught. The team saved him and helped him escape. He had called himself "Boris" several times as a joke, and the nickname stuck. He had no real identity beyond his first name and a serial number, so he chose a last name and that is now who he is.

He has worked with the North American branch of SPEAR for a three years now. Integration into civilian life is simply not an option for him, socially and by his own mindset. So instead he works for SPEAR. He is now legally an adult at 19 and lives on his own freely.

Description
Both in human and Therianthrope form, Boris is large. His face is perpetually in a grin unless he is angry or hurt, in which case the beast comes out. His form is that of a Tiger, a variation on the more common leopard.

Special Abilities
  • Berserk: Neo-therianthropes start with the Berserk Edge. The Edge is only available in hybrid form.
    Berserkers become wild and nearly uncontrollable when the “red rage” takes them, but they are deadly killing machines as well! Immediately after suffering a Wound or a
    Shaken result (from physical damage only), your hero must make a Smarts roll or go Berserk. She can voluntarily fail this check if she likes.
    Going Berserk has the following effects:
    • FURY: The character’s Strength increases a die type and every melee attack must be a Wild Attack (see page 109). She cannot use any skills that require wit or concentration (GM’s call). She may scream out threats and use Intimidation, for example.
    • ENRAGED: Adrenaline and rage fuel the berserker’s muscles, adding +2 to Toughness. She ignores one level of Wound penalties (this stacks with any other abilities that reduce Wound penalties).
    • RECKLESS ABANDON: Anytime a berserker rolls a Critical Failure on a Fighting check, she hits a random target within range of her attack (not the intended target), friend or foe. If there are no applicable targets, the blow simply misses, smashes nearby objects, etc.
  • Hybrid Form: Neo-therianthropes can change from human to their hybrid form by making a Focus roll as an action—they are unable to use their powers while in human form. They revert to her human form if they are knocked unconscious or killed. In hybrid form, they can’t speak and have difficulty manipulating modern devices and firearms. They suffer a –2 penalty when trying to use them.
  • Bio-augmented: Bio-augmented soldiers are immune to drugs or devices that only affect psychics.

  • Growth (2 levels): Increases Size, Strength, and Toughness by 1 per level.
  • Claws (Attack, Melee): The character has claws that add +2d6 damage to her melee attacks and +2 to Athletics (climbing) rolls.
  • Low Light Vision (Heightened Senses): Low Light Vision ignores penalties for Dim and Dark Illumination (but not Pitch Darkness).
  • Superior Vigor (Super Attribute): Increase an Vigor a die type.
  • Leaping (Leaping): The hero can jump 2" vertically and 4" horizontally. Double these numbers if the hero can run at least 2″ (four yards) prior to the jump. If the hero chooses, she may make an Athletics roll as an action to increase her horizontal distance by 1″ (2″ with a raise), or half that vertically. Jumping does not allow a character to exceed her total Pace for the turn.
