On the Road - interlude

Post by Technospawn »

Eventually everyone made their way to the garage and started loading their gear onto the ATV and the motorcycle. When it was time to go @Trowel opened the door to jump into the driver seat when @Vikon Athir reached and told him "not today my friend, maybe later." Vikon then climbed behind the wheel and brought the engine to life. Mumbling to himself about how boring adults where and how they always keep all the fun to themselves Trowel climbed in with the rest of the party.

Pulling out of the garage they party drove to the nexus. As they approached they noticed @Watcher standing next to a short thin red skinned female D'Norr. Her face was covered with wicked scars and one of her horns was bust just above the skin. When the party cam to a stop Watcher introduced the party to the shifter. Her name was Setiq'osi. She would shift them to a small ravine about 100 miles out of New Del Rio and then they would make their way from there.

Drawing power from the nexus Setiq shifted the party. When the shift started the whole world flattened in on its self. Then was an implosion of light and sound leaving a deafen vacuum. It seamed like the void was forever. Then suddenly there was an blinding light and a cacophony of sound that hurt the ears. Most of the party was left shaken by the travel. As they recovered they notice the spot as exactly as she had described it. A small dry canyon with no vegetation. The sun was directly overhead and it was a hot day. The read out on the dash was reading over 40*C.

Outside New Del Rio
Round 0

Vikon wasn’t sure what had gotten him assigned to drive the Mountaineer. He’d never really driven one before. He ground the clutch as he pulled out of the garage and slowly wound his way down to the nexus near the castle, where the shifter managed to get them to a canyon outside of New Del Rio.

The canyon was less than ideal driving conditions for an untrained driver. Vikon did the best he could, trying not to hit every pothole or bounce over every large stone as he weaved his way among the boulders.

Orius exited the portal on Bastions back leading the way through the shifters rifts, some of his new allies seemed apprehensive at first and Orius had been through his fair share of dimensional rifts, hell, that’s how he got most of the way to the tomorrow legion recently.

Little did he know, that they were going to let the kid drive.

“Look out!!” Someone yelled.

However, it was too late. Just as the twelve foot tall, 6 ton earth thunderer cleared the portal and Orius began to look over the canyon the mountaineer lurched violently into Bastion’s back tossing him like an eight ball aiming for the corner pocket. Only, he hit the canyon wall and trying to catch himself his right hand sheered off at the elbow upon impact.

Thankfully, Orius was flung from his seat and landed in a nice pile of rubble and besides a few bumps and bruises and wounded pride he was alright.

Orius stood up gripping his back as his whole spine readjusted and glared at the mountaineer. “Can someone else drive?!?”

Watched moved through the portal first ahead of the others. He has no dear of Vampires, and any possibly waiting on the other side would be more inclined to flee in terror of him than hang around to harm his minions.

Confirming the cost was clear he waited as the others came through. Each appearing in their own order. One the first couple were through he said. "Would it be wise to travel without scouting?" Then taking to the air he spread his wings and enjoyed a small flight, looking for risk and dangers in the area.

The next couple days was more of the same. Each time someone would scout the area before moving on, ensuring a path the vehicle could travel was to be found.

It was the first night that Watcher again bored, decided to go out. Spotting a small party of travelers he approached them. Asking what one might expect to find in the city, and what trade their was.

Like most beings they were fascinated by him once their dear wore down to a manageable level. They spent several hours telling him stories of New Del Rio, what to expect and what precautions should be taken. When all was done Watched saw the sun beginning to dawn and thanked them in his way for their knowledge.

As he returned to the team he asked each of the things to be considered, and things he learned. Allowing them to be prepared for what was to come.

Ley line storms, of all types of weather Peta hated those the most. So, of course, midway through their journey a huge storm erupted in their path. Surging bolts of arcane energy, slugs falling from the sky, and worst of all the headaches. The magic static is so strong Peta can barely think. So much mystic power floods his arcane sense making it impossible to sense anything.

Blind, slimy, and cranky Peta tries ranging ahead with his Phantom Wolf but even he is affected by the storm and unable to transform. Eventually he does the only thing he can, weathers the storm. He spends the whole time moping, scowling, and hissing at anyone who speaks to him - and anyone who doesn't.
