Slumber Party

Post by Technospawn »

Whose on watch 1d6!!: [1] = 1
The night was shaping up to be very cold and bitter. The fire helped take the bite off but the boredom of watch was not helping. Clay was happy when he second watch ended and he could return to his warm bedroll. When he was too tired to stand any more watch he woke Ali for her turn. Once he was sure she was awake and on watch he turned in and straight to sleep. Ali had been on watch almost an hour when ...

@Ali will need to roll notice. If she succeeds she can act this round if not then she will be surprised. The attackers rolled
stealth 1d8!!: [6] = 6 group check 1d4!!: [1] = 1
. The Attackers won initiative so they will attack first but need to see if they get the drop. Also need to see if Ali will spend a benny on another card.

Initiative
I will roll 1d56 for each of your initiative cards. I do not reroll duplicates, instead there are 2 extra Joker positions. Ties can be broken by an athletics roll.
  • Lowest card goes first
  • Quick rerolls 41 or higher
  • 1, 2, 3, 4 are considered Jokers
  • Cards divisible by 4 are considered Clubs for hindrances affected by Clubs (excepting 4 which is a joker).

Llolfaen 1d56: [1] = 1 Jokers Wild +2 and everyone gets a benny
Kolga 1d56: [16] = 16
Fliss 1d56: [18] = 18

Roland 1d56: [27] = 27
Ali 1d56: [38] = 38 new card 34 as rolled in her post and she won the tie
Attackers 1d56: [34] = 34 Athletics 1d6!: [2] = 2

In My games notices rolls to wake up are at -2. A player can support you waking up by yelling and rolling spirit as a free action.

Llolfaen woke as something disturbed her from her slumber, a quick glance round allowed her to spy some dark figures creeping up on their campsite. It was extremely doubtful that they were making a social call at such a late, or perhaps early, hour in the dead of night. She was skilled in the art of stealth, so pulling her piwafwi close she got to her feet and went to carefully move....

Notice -2, -2 offset by Ali yelling per GM post.
Wake from slumber 1d4!! or Wild 1d6!!: [7!!]+[1] = 8

Roland rolls over at the sound of @Ali yelling something. Arms? His arms where fine, no, wait. She said to arms... "Oh, crap! Your are a life saver woman. Thank you so very much." He exclaims as he rolls to the side. Trying to get out of the way of whatever is coming for them.

Seeing the orcs Roland presses his luck and pulls in as much of the weave as he can, shaping the spell to cover as large of an area as he can, but forming it so it does not affect his allies he releases a spell that will confuse his enemies, and hinder their movement. But the effort is too much, sending him staggering to the side unable to force his will on the orcs. Crawling under the wagon Roland tries to center himself as much as possible to be out of sight and out of reach from the orcs.

You can’t always be the hero. Clay dreamt of warmer nights and his long dead father berating him for being slower than his younger brother in the mile race they had just finished.

”...Arms!”

The hammock spun and the startled tired fighter flipped out and landed hard on his backside.

Groggy eyes nearly frozen closed opened and Red Clay grumbled.

He hasn’t seen where the trouble was yet, just now realizing Ali was yelling a warning.

Vicious flew across the snow and into his waiting hand. Clay shook the leather wrapped great sword free and into a defense ready stand.

Once Clay sees the Orcs (before or after they attack him) the fighter presses forward into them slashing upwards and down with practiced sword attacks.

(How many orcs?)

“Lady Tymora, hear my prayers and bless and protect us in this battle,” Fliss prayed. Extending her hand with her holy symbol toward Clay, engaged with the orcs, she murmured a prayer, and Clay felt a surge of stamina run through him.

Hearing the elf whelp screaming the Orc Chief roars and rushed forward brandishing a very wicked sword. As he rushes forward he see a half pint trying to throw magic at him. Their assailants soon loudly revealed themselves to be Orc as they bellowed and charged into the camp site, ready to hack apart those before them. Llolfaen had been fortunate and positioned herself where the brutes hadn't seen her, thus allowing her to strike from the flanks. With rapier drawn, she darted in to strike at the closest Orc.

Roland is more scared than pissed when the orc slashes down on him. But the pain from the blow is enough to shock him out of his fear and put a fire in him. The sword turning at the last minute only bruising his leg. "Your bastard! What the hell would you attack the guy hiding under the wagon for?" Ali spun swinging her sword toward the neck of one of the Orcs, although she misjudged the swing and it bounced of the plate of armor right below. Thankfully two of her wolves, Jager and Mond were able to tear at his legs to down him and rip out his throat.
Pivoting Ali stabbed her sword at an Orc to her left and felt it thud into it's ribs. As the Orc came to attack Jager once again saved her by leaping in front and ripping off the arm with the sword.
Thank the Lady Tymora! Fliss's prayers were working. After this I'll have to find a way to thank Fliss and her Lady. They have blessed my wolves.

Noticing their companions being slaughtered around them the two remaining orcs disengaged the fierce elf and her mean wolves and bolted into the thick underbrush.

Searching the dead orcs the party finds mostly worn out leather armor and crudely made swords. But a few of the orcs do have nicer weapons and armor. This must be the stuff taken from the Waterdehavians.

3 standard long swords
1 battle axe
2 suits of chainmail
Dice rolls
Silver 6d6: [5, 1, 4, 6, 6, 2] = 24
Copper 8d20: [12, 4, 2, 3, 14, 9, 10, 15] = 69

Dusting his hands off Roland looks over the spoils carefully. "Well, that was exciting, lets not do it again. I thought I might die"

Amphail/Stone Stallion

“Is anyone hurt?” Felicity asked as the orcs ran off. She let the spells she was holding drop to prepare for healing, if it was needed.

Once the dead were searched and stripped, Fliss stuffed the swords, axe, and mail into the bag of holding. If no one needed it, they could sell it in the next town.

Fliss walked over to Roland and offered him a skin of wine. “As long as you’re okay,” she said with a smile. “I was worried when those orcs rushed you!”

Roland's favorite topic coming up opens him instantly to conversation. "Oh me too. I was lucky to survive. But I was able to escape them and get to safety long enough to pull together the power I needed." Then as if as an after thought he asks. "Do you think there are more of them around? Perhaps we should really be moving on..." Though the truth of his worry for his favorite topic (himself) is obvious.

"He does not require an apothecary." Llolfaen said rather curtly as she busied herself with cleaning her weapons. "Plus he's making too much noise to need a priest."

"No, those orcs will trouble us no more." Continued the assassin. "They're simple brutes but smart enough to know when they've come up against too strong an opponent."

"If it would reassure you, we could use these orcs to ward off any other would be assailants...."

Too dull to catch onto the implications of the inuendo Roland likes the idea of warding off others. "Oh, thats good idea. I did not know draw could ward off other races, but it makes sense because the places drow live are really nice and would be tempting."
