It may sound a bit troupish and a lot like fantasy, but hey this is England and the best stories start from inside a pub over mugs of ale and stout.

The White Stag, like many places on Post Rifts Earth, is a rebuilt structure. Historically rebuilt, it has all the modern amenities while maintaining all the classic charm of an English pub. The timbers and stone are locally hewn and shaped. Even the carvings and reliefs in both stone and wood were done by local craftsman. The hearth is always burning and the pub is designed in such a way as to move heat through the entire building.

Ale, Mead, Stout, and even Wine can be found in the pubs of the Eternal City. Tourism keeps commerce flowing and demand for quality alcohol seems to fit with the healing and medicinal properties of the several dozen hot springs and bathes in the City. Most of these are localy made and the few that aren't are expensive and hard to come by.

It is no surprise to you, that on this English summer day, it is wet and rainy and a chill permeates through the air. You are on the last day of your furlough and have come to the White Stag to receive your official assignment and duty position within the Order of the Vauxhall Cross.
