      Speculating, but I would tend to think that characters would be more likely to know what a pen and paper RPG is than a video game, as electricity and tech are comparatively rare and prone to breaking. I doubt many places are manufacturing consoles or gaming PCs, though perhaps there would be the equivalent of mobile games/mini games on some of the portable computers manufactured for adventurers.

      Contrast that with pen and paper, which doesn't wear out if properly cared for and as comparatively easy to reproduce. Card games are canonized and it's likely that most other forms of non electronic gaming have survived, perhaps even thrived after the apocalypse ended. People have always craved entertainment, and there are centuries of pre apocalyptic entertainment waiting to be unearthed and rediscovered. It's likely some was preserved through the apocalypse to be rediscovered later, especially considering a lot of it comes shrink wrapped if unopened. If the wrap wasn't punctured it should have remained relatively protected from decay.

      Pre Rifts games may go for a decent amount of money. I speculate that, much like comics and fiction, they would probably sell for anywhere between 200 and 1,200 credits. (Palladium Rifts Main Book P. 207). Sinder seems like he's probably met people who could afford that kind of stuff, other characters may not even be aware it exists.

          1st SET Game:
          • 1. CS and Feds will let us pass - we should go - unless we are going to jump in and help the CS now in their battle. Kill leader while he stands in front of Fell? Then join the CS and take out Feds and then go into building. Together maybe?

            2. We will likely have to fight the Feds later if they win.

            3. We wont have to fight the CS likely if they win.

            4. There are Feds in the building (and a something horrible)

                  We've yet to see if it was actually a good thought, waiting on GM for that. :p

                  Either way, no matter what solution we decided to try would carry a risk. This seemed no more risky, and potentially less risky than trying to disarm the device or trying to transfer pressure from the foot to some expendable object. It also allowed Gale to show off the superiority of psionics. I'm not sure if the raise would have made a difference, but I figured I would try for it as I've got bennies to spare and we're approaching the reset.

                  I'm thinking the raise would have been a 100% success, but without the raise maybe the explosion is mostly intangible (if there is an explosion at all). Nothing that could hurt anyone, but maybe we all get shaken or have our hair slightly singed.

                  In hindsight I would have had better odds of a raise if I decided to re-roll, and one can spend multiple bennies re-rolling but only one on extra effort.

                    Going by the prices in the original Rifts Main Book (not RUE), that could potentially be worth millions of credits.

                    Yes. However you are really just pre-buying your next advance (like on credit). So if you earn 5 XP next quarter it will already be spent on the advance you choose with your Adventure card.

                        She could be lying about there being more coalition forces in the area. Is it very believable that they have backup in range?

                        She could also be lying about the portal, either that she will take us through it or that we will be safe on the other side.

                        She's basically holding us hostage against ourselves based on her word. What's our smartest play? I get the distinct feeling she's untrustworthy, but it's hard to tell exactly what she's lying about.

                        There is also the possibility that she is concerned about what we will do with the book and doesn't trust us not to use it, but I'm more inclined to think that she's the one who sent the guy down here to open that portal in the first place.

                        Anyone who makes a common knowledge test (+2 for Timothy) will know that the Old Chicago is controlled by the CS and they have a major military presence in the ruins. Not only is back up close by, it 's almost a certainty. To top it all off Chi-Town is only 80 miles away, so you're pretty close to the heart of the CS here.

                        Sorry for missing that last round. I've been busy last week packing my stuff up to move back to Canada then arranging shipping, then moving out, and am now on a road trip. The first couple of days were with friends and I had no time alone to post. I also had to deal with shipping complications with UPS and Canadian customs which required about three hours at a library today to get paperwork sorted...

                        This is very true. That's why I have banned all combat from my games. And shopping. No combat and no shopping. They take way too much time. :|

                        Anyway, going to try to get a post down, but I don't have time to do one that justifies this event. Apologies for my absense but as those of you who have me on Facebook know, I've been quite busy all over the place.

                        The Lake District>York>Rural Scotland>Edinburgh>Eastleigh and surrounding area>All over rural central France>and now I'm in Munich, heading south tomorrow to see Neuschwanstein, then to Cologne next week, then back to Canada (Toronto area) on the 20th at which point I have to sort things with customs before they sell all the stuff I tried to UPS back. Most of the time I'm traveling and staying with friends, and thus am trying to maximise time with people I may not see again once I leave the continent (some of whom I'm meeting for the first time after gaming online with them for years).

                        I expect to be back to normal Julyish.

                          I am fine splitting up. Normally I do not advise it, but play by post and SR is a bit different.
                          1) Even though we are novice, we are technically legendary by any other standard savage worlds setting. Therefore as a 2-3 person group we are far more capable. I would advise against going alone though.
                          2) play by post does lend itself well to splitting up, the gm does not have to spend time with one group, and then go to the next. Making it so some players are not having their scene moved along. The GM, while it does require a bit more work, can move all the scenes alomg simultaneously.

                          Even in PBP, a split group is a pain for the GM! But it's not so bad for the players.

                          Ghosts are relentlessly after Cory to try and stop her. Some of the group will need to fight them in order to let her work.

                          Stats: Pace: 8; Parry: 10; Toughness: 12 (4)
                          Dodge: -2 to be hit by ranged attacks
                          Notes: Armor not affected by AP
                          Resistance: +4 Armor vs. Magic and +4 to Trait rolls to resist magic powers.
                          Are these new to us? Same as the "zombies" I fed a grenade to?

                          when you say: Ghosts....are they ghost like? I'm just trying to decide how to attack them.

                          Fell will be fighting, but want to make sure they ... look like I could hit them and it would impact?

                          Hello,

                          yes, they are the exact same being you fought before - you can hit them and they can hit you. I changed terms because grandmother confirmed they are not zombies (animated dead) but reanimate spirits.
