Background
During the war the man who would become The Brute was part of one of several research teams working to perfect a super soldier serum in order to bolster the ranks of super beings fighting the alien invaders. Frustrated with his superiors refusal to move into the human testing phase of the project, he recklessly tested the process on himself with decidedly mixed results. In many ways it was a rousing success. His strength and stamina were greatly increased. His body mass grew at an accelerated rate while his skin became like steel and wounds that that would take days or weeks to heal now healed in hours. His senses were boosted to make him hyper aware of his surroundings and his ability to detect incoming threats bordered on surreal. Unfortunately, the process also destroyed most of his mind leaving him with the intellectual capacity of a child. When his colleagues discovered what had happened he was assigned the codename Brute, received remedial combat training and then sent to fight in the invasion which he did with distinction. Brute's ability to process information may be limited but he is fully capable of taking things seriously just so long as you can keep him focused on his task.

Once the war was over Brute was scheduled for termination and sent to "live" at a holding facility. The authorities, however, underestimated his ability to sense the fact that his keepers had gone from being his benefactors to his enemies. Breaking out of the facility where he was being housed he escaped into the city where he now lives on the street and doing his best to hide from the authorities. Unfortunately Brute just can't help doing the only thing he now knows how to do and that is protect the innocent from evil doers. Brute still wears the parts of his government uniform (pants and boots) and his combat armor vest. When going out incognito he will wear a hat and coat with varying levels of success.
