Goal: More RP and less focus on mechanics. There may be less combat and more role playing. I want to encourage exploring the teenager/high school experience with powers. Players should feel free to create NPCs to interact with. They should be encouraged to create RP threads in which they can explore a scene, whether it is a sporting event, or a date, or just a night out in the city. Players should feel free to create personal plots for their characters, and even include the GM if desired. The GM only needs to be involved if it is something that will have a schoolwide or larger impact (property damage, powers revealed, major supervillain fight in public, etc.). Want to stop a purse snatcher? Fun! Go for it! Want Mole Man to rip up Grant Park? Might need to include the GM.
CHARACTER CREATION
Build Points
- Start your character using normal character creation rules.
- Start with a free Human Edge. Background edges only unless you get GM permission.
- Do not use the free 5 XP PBP Advance.
Process
- Your character should be 13-15 years old. Backgrounds should try to be realistic. Explain unusual Edges or skills. You don’t need to explain Background Edges except for ones relating to other ABs. If you are a typical suburban teen, how do you have a d8 in Fighting? Do you take taekwondo? Did your Navy SEAL father teach you? Same with Shooting or Survival or high Driving as a teen. Remember d4=Beginner, d6= Average, d8=Advanced, d10=Expert, d12=Master. Anything over a d6 should likely be explained in your bio. Remember, you are a teenager.
- Build your character using standard character creation and 20 power points. You may use Super Karma if you took it. All characters should be mutants, persons born with innate powers that typically manifest during the stress of puberty.
