  • Grease Mechanic The Genchi process an almost supernatural affinity with technology, as a result they begin with d6 in Repair.
  • Distinctive D-Bee Genchi are humanoid in form, they have physical features that set them apart from human and therefore are subject to extreme prejudice in any CS Territory. Background

Kaelin's upbringing was typical of the Genchi on her own world of Darmonica; a youth spent in a ghetto and having to scavenge to get by.

Being small she was able to get into places that were difficult for others to reach, plus after she'd had a few close encounters she quickly learnt to be cautious. Like all Genchi she had an innate affinity with technology, though she also honed her thievery skills in order to get what she needed from factories and workshops. She was almost like a sewer rat using the tunnels of the undercity in order to get about.

One day she was exploring some tunnels that she'd recently discovered, her intention was to find out whether or not they would actually be of use to her. She came across a chamber like she'd never seen before, filled with machinery that looked incredibly old but also extremely advanced. At once she recognized it as belonging to a highly advanced civilisation from Darmonica's ancient past; extremely valuable regardless of whether its function was or if it even still worked. Thinking that she'd hit the jackpot, she went up to touch it before there was a sudden flash of bright light and everything went black.

When she woke up he found herself in completely different surroundings and, as she soon discovered, a completely different world. The buildings and people were different, though there were also...things she'd never encountered before. Though more advanced and different to what she was used to, Kaelin found that she had an affinity for the technology of this strange new world. It was her skill with machinery that saved her, helped make her useful in order to get food and other essentials. Though she also learnt to be careful due to the other strange beings that inhabited this world and the soldiers that belonged to something called the 'Coalition States'.

It took her a while to learn the local language, but she picked up key words early on. 'D-Bees' was something she learnt to dread, her physical features set her apart from the domination humans. Careful selection of clothing and headwear was a must if she had to have dealings with xenophobic humans like CS citizens, but that was rare as she had had very few reasons to leave the slum areas of a city called Chi-Town.

Couple thoughts (and I'm still going through this)

1. Do you have the actual rolls for the FG and HJ tables? You have the results but not any actual rolls in this thread
2. I think you have an extra attribute point (looks like you spent 6 on top of your FG rolls, but I think you only get 5) @stormwell since you responded to the last super fast

Character was originally created for the Vauxhall Knights game and I got told to pick what I wanted, but happy to roll them if required.

If your GM (Sgt 86 I believe) told you no need to roll, then no need to roll. Not all GM's do that.
  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

Using this character for a different game now, Shattered Dreams as that game seemed a better fit.

Ah, i see. I do not know anything about that game except it was a low powered, no dragons type game.

The race, Genchi, starts with d6 in Agility. F&G put this up to d8 (Smarts to d6) and I then spent the 5 attribute points as normal.

Nope! Look good! Now we just need to figure out a way to get your character in with the group.

As the campaign is set inside a megacity/arcology perhaps the mountaineer is out of place. The other operator in the group built a sweet SUV as his starting ride with GM input. :)

I was thinking the Big Boss, though Venatus did suggest SciFi vehicle rules.

Would be awesome and require GM fiat. But a behemoth would be a sweet ride.

Technically a robot, but it performs more like a motor home.

'Bodark' Cargo Crawler

Named by Kaelin after a beast of burden from her world of origin, this battered tracked cargo hauler bares all the signs of heavy use. It is a rugged vehicle that Kaelin has managed to keep running.

Large Vehicle: Size 4, Acc/TS 23/45, Toughness 22 (8), Crew 6, Cost $100K, Remaining Mods 6
Notes: 2x Armor, 3x Reinforced Chassis, Sensor Suite, 3x Speed, Tracked
Weapons: None

Envisioning the vehicle to look like *this*.

Looks good to me, except that with the mods you took (2x armor for +4, and 3x RC for +3 tough), and the starting toughness of large vehicles of 15 (4) I've got Toughness at 22 (8)

Also could you add up the custom cost of the vehicle (slap a 0 on for conversion to Rifts) and post it with the vehicle. If the number looks ridiculous let me know and we can figure out what an appropriate cost would be. This number will be used when repairs or wrecks happen. I mean....If.....

Done and done, did the Toughness wrong.

Named by Kaelin after a beast of burden from her world of origin, this battered tracked cargo hauler bares all the signs of heavy use. It is a rugged vehicle that Kaelin has managed to keep running.

Large Vehicle: Size 4, Acc/TS 23/45, Toughness 25 (14), Crew 6, Remaining Mods 5
Notes: 2x Armor, 3x Reinforced Chassis, Sensor Suite, 3x Speed, Tracked
Weapons: None

I'll look again at the toughness, granted it was during the wee hours when I did it (work nights) so may have miscalculated.

Yeah, I'm good with everything here.

Your Vehicle cost ends up being astronomical when you build it via the sci-fi companion. I've heard of this problem before but never experience it until now.

I'd be good with bringing it down to about 100K if @Venatus Vinco is okay with it. That seems reasonable compared to similar vehicles like the Big Boss and Mountaineer, though you've got a couple extra mods to work with so it puts your vehicle at a bit of a premium.

Now we just need to get rolling again and work you in!

@John Smith @stormwell

No problem with the vehicle cost adjustment.
