A Taste of Nature

Organic markets and vegan cuisine has always been popular in Seattle and What a Nice Taste has hit all the right spots for marketing to the crowd. Their food is known to be healthy, tasty and overall delicious.

The atmosphere works the balance between local and clean that sits just right. Gathering together to eat here is a treat attractive to the middle class in general.

While you would have no luck ordering a pepsi or coke, nice wine, fresh juices and other drinks are available. Their food options do from whole organic vegan, to market fresh organic seafood, poultry and beef. With a two page menu offering a little something for everyone.

  • 2D6 EFFECT
    2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

    3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

    4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

    6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

    9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

    11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

    12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

It has been two weeks since the incident with Mary. Once she recovered she thanked everyone for the help getting out of the situation. Situations like this can be awkward, but she handled it with amazing resilience.

The team having been encouraged to keep in touch with each other just in case, so when Mary visits in your dreams and mentions getting together for a lunch and touching base it seems perfect.

Going over to sit down next to her she stands and offers hugs to everyone as they arrive. “Thank you for coming. I think it is good for us to occasionally touch base outside of all the stress of work.”

The lunch and visiting takes about and hour or two while everyone enjoys some food and drink people are able to get their thoughts in order before Mary says. “After this, I would like to meet up with Michael at the office to talk about another project.”

Gravely had spent the previous two weeks slowly gathering supplies and visiting The Place Between every couple of days.

Ever alert for danger, Gravely had taken to keeping tabs on cell members, just so he knew if they were in danger or needed help.

At least once he stopped in to visit @Triessa in regards some weapon modifications and equipment upgrades, specifically looking at materials needed.


Gravely received Mary's dreaming in stride even though he had been concerned about the lack of communication from Mary or Micheal. Neither of them had been even remotely available over the past couple of weeks.

Not exactly new to the paranormal scene, Gravely felt he needed more training and some better equipment.

Gravely greeted Mary with a hug and complemented on her recovery. He followed up his reminder that the offer still stood, if she wanted some hand to hand training.

Two weeks. Thank God she'd managed to scrape a couple of cases together in that time. Neither one paid much, but it was enough to keep the lights on. This time. And of course it'd given her a chance to work on a few talismans...just a few spells-in-bottles, to hopefully give them an ace in the hole, the next time they found themselves in a hole.

She still wasn't sure what kind of 'material' Gravely wanted her help with, but maybe they'd have time to go over it here.

With a smile spared for Mary, Triessa joined the table. Talk of another project gets her attention.

"So, uh, any chance this new project might include some monetary compensation?" she asked, smacking her lips after a gulp of apple juice.

Manny looks up from his plate of organic potato... somethings at the mention of meeting Michael at the office.

"Here in the city this time, I hope?" he asks dubiously. The memory of their last foray into the countryside, and then into another world entirely, has not faded for Manny.

Mary nods. "While we do not have access to a lot of cash, we do understand everyone has needs. Most of our money comes from recovered assets and we do have some left we can help you with."

"Recovered assets," Triessa muses. She shrugs. "I'm okay with that. Not like we're sending these guys to the police, after all."

She lifts her glass of free-range, antibiotic-free, organic water and toasts Mary, then takes a gulp of it.

"So, what's the project?"
