As his claws tear through the chest plate. Kidemonas sees into the machine where a network of crystals inside powering the heart of the thing. Biting into them he rips them out shaking his head in satisfaction as the machine falls no longer animate.

She looks back at Everett and Kidemonas and shakes her head with a grumpy look. Go, go, go they said. So she goes and then they start fighting without her. She growls but keeps going.

As others turn to face the danger Dom does not let their noble sacrifice go to waste and pushes the cart as hard as he can toward the exit.

Seeing a slight downward grade in the tracks before they head up toward the surface Dom uses us magic to give an extra push, giving them extra momentum to get up the hill and out.

It's hard to say what causes it--maybe it was seeing the Drillbot go into Land-shark mode; maybe he just managed to clear some obstruction that had been hindering the cart up until now; maybe it was just concern about Dom being mostly alone with the Tome. Whatever the cause, his cart now surges forward, causing Perdi to snarl as he gets knocked against the rear of the vehicle.

"Great job, buddy, but not what I meant when I said MOVE-MOVE-MOVE. Lets go killer!" He shouts back at @Kidemonas, "We gotta get out of here before that thing pops back up and starts stepping on us! That might not be a problem for you, but I'm not letting any of us normal sized folks become toe jam."

@Heather Todd makes good time, finally landing at the end of the track where she finds @Dominic Skodati and @Marten having just dismounted their own cart. @Everett Jackson does his best to frighten the digger while it is still submerged, but he only succeeds in lightening the load of ammunition he's carrying. @Gaspard Gillead and @Adriana keep their focus on escaping, with @Alex

It lands on its feet, causing the whole mine to shake violently. The 12th is showered in rock from the ceilings of the cavern. The automaton points its massive drilling arms at Kidemonas. Two spikes (the size of Everett) fire from the ends,

Hearing the conversation ahead it occurs to Kidemonas they may not be able to wait for him to get through before they close the doors. As large as he is, the giant machine seems to easily be keeping up with him, and their efforts to slow it down seems to be failing. Am I going to be trapped here with this great golem? the idea chilled him a little bit as he considered even his endurance would run out eventually and the thing would be able to overcome him.

With most of the 12th reaching the doors, including @Adriana, @Everett Jackson, and @Gaspard Gillead, only @Alex and Kidemonas remain to be pursued by the Digger. The shower of rock from the walls and ceilings includes a boulder. The massive stone lands directly in Alex's path. He barely misses being crushed by it, though when he runs into it he

The drill driving into Kidemonas is enough it overcomes even his own thick hide. As he does his best to avoid any critical wounds it cannot be helped.
43 (22) versus 37 AP 14
37+14 = 51
51-43 = 9
9/4 = 2 wounds
As he rocks from the blow blood flowing from the wound the dragon lets out a roar of pain.

Regenerates 1 wound, flees out the door with Alex
Kidemonas Turn
Bio-Regenerate Once per day (Instant) = Regenerated 1 Wound
Spirit to Unshake = Unshakes
Free Action Change Posision = Moved to exit card
Action Flee With Alex = Not sure if a roll is needed here.
-1d8!!Ld1d6!!
H1d6!!Ld1d6!!d-1HH
FHp1d10!!Ld1d6!!-1dd+2HFHdLL
Kidemonas clears his head as his wounds begin closing. Shaking his head he looks around, then leaping back into the air he flies through the door as fast as he can grabbing Alex on the way and bringing the trooper with him as he flees through the doorway. The slam as the others close the door causes Kidemonas to turn and face it, ready in case the door is blown open to fight the giant golem.

Alex turns as his friend @Kidemonas howls in pain. He begins to set targeting for a blast at the Digger. Before he can pull the trigger, though, the wounded dragon hauls him out and past the doors. He starts barking orders about how not just to muscle the doors closed, but to lock them. "I don't think it can get through. Just put some...uh, magic on that symbol. Yes!" The floor shifts and heaves as the steps of the massive automaton approach, and you find it difficult to maintain your footing. Certain doom is mere seconds from bursting through the doorway to stomp the whole crew into paste.
As the mages of the 12th pour their arcane will into the sigil on the door, you hear the locking mechanism glide into place. The earth-shaking thuds of the Digger's steps come to a halt just outside the door. You brace for impact, because surely these doors would not take more than a couple blows before they topple. Seconds later...the impact never comes. Neither do you feel the seismic stride of the machine on the other side of the door, either coming or going.
It seems, at least for now, that you are out of immediate danger.
What are you doing?

A quick review sees the wound has already begun healing. Kidemonas looks at the wound as Adriana examines it. "I could finish the healing, but it draws of power I do not with to risk the consequences of with this building energy. I think maybe I will have to endure for now." He states not even considering the idea that mundane human methods of healing could close the wound and let his natural regeneration finish removing the scars.

Kidemonas looks at the door wondering if he could have taken the machine. "It is lucky I have been so restrained in using my natural power. I would have easily destroyed that golem otherwise." He boasts to himself softly, covering the pain to his ego from running in front of the others. Then aloud. "Sure, lets move away and perform the ritual. Who has the book?" He asks looking at @Dominic. He was pretty sure the rift runner had the book, but they had not seen the book in a while and after everyone ran he was a little worried it could have been dropped.

Amity/Mine
Afternoon
Round 0

Heather took a deep breath as Kidemenos and Alex managed to get into the elevator and they headed up, safe now from the digger.

“I have a first aid kit,” Heather offered. “No real training in it, so if someone is better than I am, they can give it a try. We can at least close that wound, Kid, until it stops bleeding. And I agree. Let’s get this ritual over with and get home. There’s so much magical and psionic energy here I’m getting a headache.”

Gaspard snorts at Dom's little joke. "Pay him no heed, @Kidemonas, the one thing he isn't about to do is let go of something valuable by accident." He pauses for a moment at his own words, then shakes his head. No, even he couldn't be that stupidly greedy....

Trying to reassure himself on that point, he proceeds with the others to the entrance to the mine.

  • 2D6 EFFECT
2 Catastrophe: Something goes terribly wrong. The GM must decide what, but some ideas are a new and permanent Minor Hindrance, the inability to use powers for several days, or an explosion of some sort. The backlash should be thematic if possible. If the hero tampers with dark forces for his abilities, for example, he might become corrupted or summon something sinister into the world. If he’s a weird scientist the device might explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Blast Template, or he might develop a Quirk, Phobia, or other “madness.”

3 Backfire: The power succeeds as with a raise but affects a different target with the worst possible results. A bolt hits a random friend, boost Trait increases an enemy’s skill or attribute, etc. If there’s no likely target, he’s Stunned instead. If the power has a Duration other than Instant, it lasts its full term and can only be negated by dispel (the caster can’t voluntarily end it herself).

4–5 Short Circuit: The power fails but the Power Points allocated to it are spent, along with an additional 1d6 Power Points.

6–8 Stunned: The caster is Stunned (see page 106). She subtracts 2 from arcane skill rolls for the rest of the encounter (the penalty remains –2 even if she gets this result again).

9–10 Overload: The character’s synapses crackle and overload with power. He takes 2d6 damage plus the cost of the power in Power Points, including any Power Modifiers the player declared.

11 Fatigue: The character suffers Fatigue.

12 Overcharge: The power draws ambient energy from the air, automatically succeeding against the target with a raise and costing the caster no Power Points!

Everett watches over the others prepared for the next threat. He's relieved to see everyone made it away from the construct more or less intact. He didn't really want to have to hold the thing off so the others could get out. Everett's pretty sure he could have, but is less sure about his odds of survival.

"Good job @Kidemonas. Taking the small one down made it easier for the rest of us to get out," he praises the dragon, "so where to now? Can we just do your magic here and be done with it or do we need to find a better position?"
Everett Jackson, Titan Juicer
Everett, Human Titan Juicer
Pace: 10(d8); Parry: 8(1) Toughness: 24(9)
  • Uncanny Reflexes: Juicer reflexes are superhuman, granting them −2 to be hit by any attack they are aware of and +2 on Evasion rolls.
Note: Neither Quick nor Uncanny Reflexes apply on the first round of an unexpected combat/high-stress situation.
Combat-Relevant Edges & Abilities:
  • Ravenous Abandon (Berserk): Per the Berserk Edge, Everett can flip the switch and give partial control over his actions to the Reaver of Essence. This comes at a cost - ending Balitrox's berserking rage is not an option until its hunger has been sated by the blood of a wielder of arcane power
  • Charge: She may ignore the penalty for Running when making a Fighting attack at the end of her movement.
    • Overrun: If he moves at least one inch beyond his normal Pace before making any Fighting attacks, the hero adds +2 to the damage rolls. Any target Shaken by such an attack is knocked prone.
  • Drug-induced Euphoria/Tranquility: In order to keep the Juicer from burning out over a matter of days, the bio-comp constantly supplies a combination of psychotropic drugs and chemical inhibitors to keep him happy and calm. Juicers live in a state somewhere between mildly ecstatic and stoned, which causes −1 to all Smarts or Smarts-linked skill rolls in non-combat or low stress situations. On the first round of an unexpected combat or high-stress situation, the Juicer doesn’t gain the benefits of Uncanny Reflexes or Quick.
  • Frenzy: A character with Frenzy rolls a second Fighting die with any one of his Fighting attacks for the turn. The extra die may be allocated to the same or different targets as he sees fit. Resolve each separately.
  • Internal Repair System: As an action, the Juicer can make a natural healing roll at +2 to heal Wounds; this costs one charge.
  • Level Headed: Draw an additional Action Card each round in combat and choose which one to use.
  • Multi-Optic Helmet: It includes a targeting sight, magnification, thermal, infrared, ultraviolet, and night optics. The wearer ignores Illumination penalties, gains +2 to sight-based Notice checks or to offset Range penalties, and +1 Shooting with calibrated weapons. The helmet includes a hands-free radio (10-mile range) and megaphone voice-projection system.
  • Quick: Whenever you are dealt an Action Card of Five or lower, you may discard it and draw again until you get a card higher than Five.
  • Size +2
  • Split the Seconds: Juicers and Crazies often find themselves living between the ticks of the clock. This Edge allows them to ignore 2 points of Multi-Action penalties each turn (they can perform two actions at no penalty or three at −2 each).
  • Super Endurance: They require only half the normal amount of sleep and gain +2 on all Fatigue checks.
  • Trademark Weapon, Improved: +2 to Fighting with Balitrox and +2 Parry when Balitrox is readied.
Wounds: 0/3; Fatigue: 0/2; Balitrox's PPE: 5/5
Bennies: 4/3; Internal Repair System: 3/3
Burn: 6/8

" I do not know. I was hoping Dom or Gaspard Gillead would tell us where the ritual needs to happen. To be honest I do not use magic very often outside of battle." The dragon says a little embarrassed for not trying harder to keep up skills in each domain of dragon dominance.
