Character Name: Lily Coleman
Supername: Kallilia
Rank: Novice Experience: 16 Advances Left: 0 (1/1/19)
Power Points: 55 Power Limit: 15
Race:
Dalaraan
An extraterrestrial people from a distant planet, the Dalaraan are too morphologically similar to Earth humans not to be related to them. Their homeworld is certainly not the world they originally evolved on, though their arrival on that world predates both their recorded history as well as histories written on Earth. At some point in the distant past there was another sentient species living on Dalaraan, now long gone. They left behind numerous settlements and objects of technology that the Dalaraan first claimed, then investigated. They found a great deal of evidence to substantiate their myths and legends of having been raised by 'gods,' then rising up and driving those 'gods' off the planet, or perhaps even killing them all.

Despite their appearance, Dalaraan are very different from terrestrial humans in important ways. It is likely they were dramatically enhanced by their captors...perhaps more than was advisable. In addition to baseline improvements to strength, reaction speed and durability, the Dalaraan have a unique ability to generate a field of intense exotic radiation they call a 'biokinetic field.' The energy appears to interact with electromagnetic and Higgs fields to create 'mass-like' areas and effects, such as protective barriers that appear solid despite not having mass, or blades or blasts that strike like solid objects of great momentum, or can be focused to degrade and decay component molecules and atoms directly.

The many modifications made to them by their alien 'gods' prior to the conflict, combined with ready access to vastly advanced technology and a much smaller and more cohesive population base than Earth's, allowed them to leapfrog ahead of terrestrial technology by a large margin. During this time they started spreading out, first into their solar system, and then into a handful of nearby star systems. In the process however, they encountered the Sarpah.

Conflict was immediate, and several vulnerable colony worlds were lost quickly. The Dalaraan rallied however, responding to the new challenge with determination to live up to the title they had chosen for their people; 'god slayers.'

The state of the war between the Dalaraan Empire and the Sarpah is one of a slow deterioration. The Dalaraan forces are able to defend their worlds, but have difficulty making meaningful inroads into enemy territory. The Sarpah are vastly more numerous and control more space. They can absorb losses that the Dalaraan simply can't.

Without allies, or a miracle, it seems inevitable that the Empire will fall in time.

A Note on Dalaraan Tech
Items labeled as 'dalaraan' have user interfaces that interact in the Dalaraan language, and often are powered or operate by interacting with the Dalaraan biokinetic field. Non-Dalaraan cannot use these items without highly specialized technology that can simulate a Dalaraan operator.
Dalaraan Universal Translator (super device)
A small device crafted to look like an earbud or bit of ornamentation on the ear, the Universal Translator is a marvel of Dalaraan molecular computer design, housing a dedicated expert VI capable of remembering codified codexes on an astronomical number of languages, and applying existing grammatical rules and knowledge to decode languages not currently in its lexicon. A Dalaraan trained in its use can utilize fluctuations in their biokinetic field to communicate quickly and undetectably with the unit, while it transmits information back via vibrations induced into the wearer's skull. Thus, a user can communicate virtually in real time, with no apparent translator being employed. The expense of the units precludes it being assigned to any but designated contact operatives.

Dalaraan Holocomm (super device)
A standard Dalaraan holocom is about the size of a terrestrial cellphone, but has vastly superior capabilities. It is a military-specification SIGINT platform, capable of cataloging signals all along the microwave and radio spectrum, with dedicated AI that filters out noise and extrapolates even weak or intermittant signals into an interpretable form. Onboard reception and broadcast can extend to 100 kilometers, or more if it can uplink to a larger array or signal source. It includes visual and audio scanners for use in sending or recording content, and can display visual information via holographic suspension in up to 2 cubic feet around the unit. A holocomm has sufficient signal strength to 'drown out' other sources, jamming or replacing other signals over a limited range. The SIGINT decryption suite can allow a skilled operator to decipher even encrypted channels in close to real time.

Dalaraan Direct Ranged User Interface Device (super device)
Similar in some ways to the holocomm, this device...colloquially referred to as a 'DRUID'...utilizes powerful directed electromagnetic radiation and phased array receivers to interface at range with electronic devices via either an existing wireless capability in the device, or by inducing current directly into its circuits and processors if it is not wireless-capable. It comes with a dedicated AI that provides a Dalaraan operator with constant feedback, using predictive models to anticipate the system's actions and thus dramatically enhance the ability of its operator to manipulate it. Any interface via DRUID requires a few seconds while the unit scans and interrogates the system it is interfacing with.

Dalaraan Survival Nutrient Processor
Though Dalaraan are superficially similar to humans, they have significantly different body chemistries that make some Earth foods non-nutritious or even toxic. This small device will scan organic substances, flag dangerous compounds, and can chemically treat foods that are inserted into it into forms that will sustain Dalaraan natives. It is powered by the user's biokinetic field, and as such can function indefinitely as long as in the possession of a Dalaraan.

Journal and Recovered Data
A handful of electronic documents on static storage media that Lily can use her holocomm to access or modify. It includes her personal journal documenting her experiences, and a few library files she was able to download from her escape pod before abandoning it.

Dalaraan Diplomatic Pouch
A small secured storage, keyed to Lily's biometrics and crafted from durable materials and shielded from scans, to keep documents, valuables or other small objects or items. Currently holds Lily's 'money,' which is largely in the form of various exotic gems originally intended to be a gift to open negotiations.

Eye of Dalaraan (Patron Item)
A sophisticated implant that ties into its wearer's biokinetic field and detects minute shifts in its density in reaction to objects in the environment. It can provide early warning and location of any solid object within an area of the wearer. Only works for Dalaraan natives, or other creatures with similar biokinetic fields.
The hero ignores any and all obscurement penalties (darkness, fog, invisibility, etc). Cover penalties for solid objects still apply normally. (Awareness, 3, Device)

Armored Overcoat (ARES Patron Item)
+1 Toughness
Increase load limit to Strength x 7 in pounds.
No Minimum Strength Requirement (10 lbs.)

Background
Kallila con'Aksani was bestowed a great honor in being sent to Earth, even for one of Imperial blood. Her mentor, the legendary peacemaker who ended the hundred year War of Five Clans, personally interceded with the Emperor on her behalf to include her in this, a historic journey to a distant star. The planet had been discovered by intercepted intel from the Sarpah indicating it was on a short list of future conquests. A single world, with relatively primitive technology, the Sarpah anticipated a quick and easy victory bringing them much-needed resources and slaves for their ongoing war effort.

The mission of the Star Stone was to warn Earth of the coming invasion, and attempt to secure an alliance against their mutual foe. Earth had much that Dalaraan didn't...but what it most crucially had was billions of people who could be trained and equipped to bolster the flagging ranks of the Dalaraan soldiers. Industrial capacity that could be used...with some refitting and supervision...to produce starships of war. Commodities desperately needed by an Empire slowly being bled dry by the attrition of a forever war.

It was a disaster.

The Star Stone was intercepted as it approached the planet; the Sarpah fleets had moved faster than anticipated and the invasion was already under way. Though the Dalaraan embassy ship managed to reach Earth, it was too badly damaged to attempt to retreat or attempt contact from orbit...and with the Sarpah in hot pursuit, there weren't many options open to the survivors. Kallila was practically stuffed into an escape pod by the lead diplomat and ejected from the ship. In the time since, she's searched for signs of the ship or any other survivors, but hasn't found any.

Her pod was badly damaged on impact, forcing Kallila to gather what she could from it and make a run for it before the Sarpah tracked it down and came looking for her.

She discovered a few things very quickly. Firstly: Earth was in no mood to deal with aliens at the moment. The prevailing climate was so overwhelmingly 'Earth First,' that Kallily feared she'd be in danger if she revealed herself, even with friendly intentions. Especially since she had so very few resources to prove her identity, and virtually no contact with Dalaraan to obtain official status. Secondly: Earth was, somehow, defending itself against the Sarpah.

It was astonishing, but the Sarpah field intelligence that the Dalaraan had intercepted hadn't mentioned anything about what she was seeing now. That lapse was costing them dearly. The overall technology of Earth was low, but that seemed to have a lot to do with an incredibly wide disparity between the highest available technology and the much more primitive tools widely available. The armies of the humans were largely ineffective against the invasion...but there were numerous small squads of individuals who had abilities and technology far in excess of those armies, and who were contesting the Sarpah invasion and occupation with singular resolve.

Kallila decided her best option was to blend in as best she could for the moment, and help these defenders of Earth. In time she expected they would become the next generation of leaders of the world, and they would remember her and her contributions to their cause. She would count on that to help counteract any anti-alien prejudice that would undoubtedly still linger.

Somehow, the humans won. They managed to uproot the Sarpah and drive them back into space. Even as the world celebrated, Kallila ...or Lily as she was known among humans when out of 'costume'...felt a profound disquiet. The Sarpah had vast resources, and never retreated without doing as much damage as they could on the way out. Was this the end of the invasion, or just a change in strategy?

Even so, the sudden cessation of hostilities gave her an opening to try to make contact. Except then the crackdown on 'supers' began. The exceptional individuals who had saved the world were targeted as threats, completely taking Lily by surprise. Like the rest of the survivors, she was forced into hiding. Since then she's been keeping her head down, trying to figure out what went wrong. Someday, Lily knows, the Sarpah will be back...and now Earth had rid itself of its only defense against them. It was more vital now to ally than ever...but how, when she couldn't even show her face at the UN or major national capital without being immediately attacked?

Kallila hasn't given up, but the way forward is shrouded to her eyes for just a bit longer.

It's a me, Lilio!

Any way we can transfer the base posts in this to my name, so I don't have to use Alecto's account to edit or update the sheet? :)
